    @Big Rat

Yes love the engine, very refined for a four pot and almost silent when pootling along which is what the missus prefers.

Agree, lovely smooth four pot engine, probably one of the best I've driven and smoother than my recent 6 pot N55. It really needs to be in Sports mode however, then it comes alive.

Does the job nicely in relation to price / performance and of course Lexus reliability. Haven't regretted it for a minute.

within the last week lexus / toyota increased their servicing prices

our Auris service went up £5 yet the IS went up £40 Why or is it just because they can.

    new prices listed here

    https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/#ServicingYourLexus

Luckily I'm in year one of a three year service plan that they promise is fixed.

This servicing issue is a costly and major bugbear that doesn't help towards their market position. If BMW can do reasonably priced 5 year service plans based on mileage / use rather than chucking all cars in at 12 months then I'm sure Lexus could do similar.

  3. My IS200 SE, 53 plate and owned for 7 years in my case....part ex'd it for peanuts but its probably still going strong. There are so many  around , they still turn my head.

I regret not buying an IS300 back in the day, that might have been a keeper.

In my personal opinion, many Lexus models are now inferiour in terms of refinement, because key quality factors are ignored for the sake of customer appeal.. and while customers are always right, it is not necessary the case that customers always knows what is the best...

Why do you keep trolling this forum?

You've never owned a new prestige car..pop back when you have done some long term ownership of a few marques so you can compare.

Your opinion based on what though?  Which new Lexus models have you owned?  My GS is very quiet & refined as was my previous IS.

What "key quality factors are ignored" can you elaborate?

I like doors that thunk shut and superbly comfortable seats and soft touch panels even on the bottom of the doors etc

    Ed:whistling1:

Ignore him, he's done a test drive and decided Lexus are crap, the NX / IS200t engine is crap and everything else is crap..somehow he circumnavigated my ignore filter.

The scary bit for Lexus, our Tesla is the least capable car they do as it's the slowest and smallest battery version available!!!

Lexus isn't exactly an out an out performance product bar one or two exceptions.

I can't really see EV vehicles impacting on Lexus sales yet or for the forseeable, perhaps that's why they aren't overly worried.. Plenty of life left in the combustion engine with vast oil deposits being found ,fuel prices aren't going anywhere.   At least we know that when Lexus do go there it will be what we all want within reason....a solid reliable comfortable product which I believe overrides everything else for Lexus customers.

Plugging the bloody thing is also a potential pain in the arris. We live in an over populated country where it would absolutely impossible to charge the thing if you (like millions) are subject to on street or communal parking.

That aside, its been interesting reading your updates and best of luck....

Just input the page number into the header bar in Adobe Reader. I generally start at the index and skip directly to the page required

    cheers mate, that worked....:w00t:

Is there a quick way of getting back from say page 163 to the index

  7. My 2015 IS200t download is simply a pdf....600 pages and no direct link to any page, have to scroll through the lot.

The Lexus site also downloads McAfee security scan plus and something called True key by Intel Security.. dont fancy going much further and theres no chance of putting that on my phone..

A manual would be so much easier for an old nacker like me

    RTFM:yes:

Are you aware Lexus have stopped issuing manuals for certain models...........only a download

If you have a crappy phone then for people like me most things are still a mystery.......I dont think a rear seat passenger has got out of the car yet without a  massive hoo haa as I still cant work that out.....:wink3:

  9. Might be the dual mass flywheel .I had this back in the day. Lexus tried to fob me and others off , they said it was a characteristic of the car .They changed it (and the clutch)under warranty and all was fine. Hopefully for your sake it isn't.

  10. Black looks pretty good as well :whistling:..Celestial Black that is..gorgeous in full sunlight.

Before I got my 'sport'..albeit the IS200t ..(more sportier than the 300h :wink3:) my local dealer was selling one in the same red, with the black wheels and wing mirrors. Alarmingly the thing had a black rear spoiler fitted...made the whole thing look naff. Red and Black is fine on a Citroen C1 but not a blooody Lexus.

You're right I should fit it myself. I used to everything myself on my cars, but lately as I've got older encountered too many issues and not having the correct tools etc etc.

Leaving the professionals to it from now on.

Agree. Attempted to change the oil in my old IS200 a few years back. The oil filter is tucked so far out of the way it had to go on a ramp or I had to get into a position I simply cant do nowadays. plus the specialist tool.  There's a time and place and I'd happily pay a garage for a job like a water pump.

  12. Its like Marmite, you either love or hate it.

One issue I see is that someone will pay £5000 more than book value for an IS300h to be lumbered with something that no Lexus dealer will touch with a barge pole come re-sale or part ex time . Most specialist garages also like un- molested examples but this is hardly a specialist car.  In addition the performance I presume is just bog standard - in other words not very exiting - worth considering. .

If you want twin exhausts then possibly look at the IS200t , if you want to ruin it  jazz it further then consider  aftermarket body kits / wheels and you will not only save yourself a large wedge but also have something with more poke.

Apologies but you should see the ridicule the wannabee M owners get on some BMW forums. This is edging slightly towards that ground.

Personally I like the look of it but would be cautious of spending £25K on something I may struggle to move on in a few years.
