  1. Your mirror was hit by a mechanically propelled vehicle - not a bicycle.
  2. It is not dangerous. Holland has a population of 16 million - more than London..and the majority of people own a bike. Lung cancer from what exactly - all them pesky vehicles..haha. You just don't get it do you.
  3. Linas..read my post. i said I don't condone it. That means I don't agree / accept/ approve it. Look it up mate, I would hate for you to get in a bit of bother over language difficulties
  4. It's a minefield. They require you to report any incident - no matter what. On one occasion my daughter opened her door and allegedly hit the alloy wheel of a Range Rover. The guy went the whole hog ..threats / demanding £500 for a wheel refurbishment but then made a mistake that would have cost him dear....but as it transpired also hammered my daughter for 3 years. He rang his insurance company. I guess in an effort to make us pay up. We didn't but within a few hours Admiral sent a text and e mail and it was on her record. There was no claim, it came to nothing but the Incident was on her record and reflected in her renewals. An Insurance claim is absolutely the last resort in my eyes.
  5. You saw one incident involving a cyclist and a car mirror and you think it happens all of the time ? Perhaps..just perhaps the motorist in his one ton comfort capsule got to close to the cyclist and put his life in danger...I dunno and I don't condone it. Random cyclists don't knock off car mirrors as a matter of routine. Why - because you don't pay attention ? By insisting that cyclists wear high visibility clothing you are doing two things. You are adding to the misconception that cycling is dangerous when it isn't. You are also attempting to put blame on cyclists involved in collisions with motor vehicles who aren't wearing some kind of dayglow outfit. You failed to tell me the country in which you stated it was law for pedestrians to light reflectors / high vis in the dark - please do. I see. Because it doesn't fit your narrative you simply dismiss it. You also dismiss best practice - what a way for a country to advance itself eh ! Hilarious. No mate. Promoting cycling is aimed at making people healthier, reducing traffic and helping the environment.
  6. You come from a country where J walking is illegal ...yet post this. I have every sympathy with your case against the moped but for added effect you went on an anti cyclist rant - there is no comparison between your incident and cyclists and I struggle to see the connection. Can you advise in which country pedestrians are lawfully required to wear high visibility in the dark...I'm intrigued only because I have never seen it in any city and will remember to take my high vis when I pop into bars and restaurants if I go there. Your instance that High Vis is the answer is simply shifting the blame from motorists who chose not to drive without due care and attention to vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists . There is no evidence to prove high vis has any impact on cycling safety ...lights yes and we have laws in relation to that. Have you been to Holland ? Millions of cyclists - no helmets or requirement for high vis, yet if there is there is an accident with a cyclists the onus is automatically placed on the driver of the vehicle until proved otherwise. As a result people drive more carefully and are more aware of their surroundings ( as you should be). You mention congestion and traffic being worse here than everywhere else yet go on a rant about cyclists - can't you see the hypocrisy in that statement ?
  7. It sounds like you need to get a better grasp of your surroundings. In other words fess up. Cyclists dont have the luxury of being surrounded by a ton of Lexus metal, that aside visit a few other European Cities and you will realise its pretty damned good here/ - I accept there are some muppets but 99% are normal law abiding folk. As a pedestrian should you wear High viz ?..should cars be high viz ? . I don't get this 'gear 'regulation thing you mention
  8. I believe my car is similar to the IS300h apart from the engine. I had slight wind noise heading down the M40 past Banbury into the face of Storm Brian last month. It was a whisper in my ear, just a slight one or I may even have imagined it. But in normal motorway use - no.
  9. Can someone sit in the back, perhaps put one of the seats down to see if they can pinpoint the area of the noise. I guess you have checked its not the rear seats / seat belts and have had the contents of the boot out. With most Lexus rattles / creaks people simply return it to the dealer under warranty and let them sort it. You might have to be be slightly insistent that they do actually do a proper job in looking for the rattle rather than fob you off.
  10. This is getting interesting. It would appear my manual doesn't relate to an IS200t...there is no mention at all of it yet I've just seen a copy on another thread that specifically states the IS200t should have a plug change at 40K....so yes @J Henderson you are right. The car was virtually new, main dealer 1500 miles on it. The service plan also relates to a bloody IS200 haha , I bet that confused the guys in the workshop on the last service. So two separate Lexus dealers have failed to correctly identify the model of my car ..unbelievable ! I guess at year 4 I will casually remind them about the spark plug change, however having paid 3 years of a plan I wonder if they will honour it.
  11. Interesting. My service manual states Iridium type 60,000 Nx 200t 40,000 I'm due the 4 year service (Full) in 2019 and its makes no mention of plugs but lists in detail what they will do (transmission / coolant change etc). My plan was £986 for two fulls and one Intermediate. Do I have Iridium plugs..? no idea but if the same engine is getting a plug change at 48 months on the Nx200t and the RC2OOt then I wouldn't be happy taking mine beyond that ( If I still have it)
  12. I don't think that's exactly rocket science. or is it
  13. That appears to be for the NX200t according to my manual.
  14. Welcome You have something different and utterly reliable so you won't lose any sleep in that respect. I'm not sure about negatives. I guess once the pink cloud of new ownership dissipates you might find a few issues..but I'm not really sure what.
  15. I beat ParkingEye through POPLA over some malicious payment they wanted from my daughter. I used MSE site who guided me through the process http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163 You just need a bit of patience to go through the appeal process. The beauty is that it costs these parking companies £70 (probably more now) to take it to POPLA....when you win they lose out financially.
  16. Somehow this spam circumnavigates my adblocker.
  17. It was tongue in cheek. The 4 breakdowns is laughable though. Decent dealer however and extremely competitive price wise.
  18. 4 breakdowns.....hahahhahahahhaaha Someone had doubled booked the one CT200h....naughty Bristol
  19. I did a run to Portsmouth yesterday from Bournemouth. Two adult passengers and a boot full of golf clubs. 51.4mpg. We tonked it home (fast lane with Audis up my chuff) so 80 ish and we got 42mpg I'm still pleasantly surprised . Strangely enough I had a CT as a loaner a few weeks back. This was a car I so wanted to be the real deal but It left me feeling slightly empty. Its a basic get from A to B mode of transport with a Lexus badge. I can understand the reasoning, less weight / padding / soundproofing and it serves a purpose .....with bombproof Lexus reliability. It rattled a fair bit mind and I guess that was my major disappointment compared to years in an IS200 and the IS200t.
  20. Yes I live in a rural area, I also don't commute. There is no common denominator and I accept that anyone living in a city or travelling during the rush hour will have wholly different consumption figures so yes we are probably singing from a different hymn sheet. That aside..the OP (original poster) is on about commuting so I will leave things be. Not sure how we ended up here/.
  21. I do a fair bit of cycling and have seen these community speed watch areas in various villages. They have a speed gun, fluorescent jackets and note down speeds. I guess they report the figures back but apart from that its simply policing on the cheap - thanks to Theresa May
  22. Its common knowledge and quite widely advertised that the infotainment system is pretty dire with Lexus. It may have been advisable to do some homework beforehand in that respect. My lad in a 13 year old Hyundai with a phone attached to his dash has far more idea of traffic delays and alternative routes. Indeed when he's with me in the Lex we just go with his phone which makes me look a bit of a clump.
  23. I'm with Admiral....multicar....plus two daughters..I usually do my homework..ring them back and they mysteriously match it. Have done for years. Strangely my wifes Mini never made it into their equation and is always cheaper elsewhere. Its just a right pain as the renewal is outrageous and they always chop off hundreds when I ring. Why not just give the best quote....bangs head !!!
  24. There is an indicator on the fuel gauge that also shows what side the filler cap is on. The problem is that when the needle (fuel) is low it covers the indicator completely.
  25. I've noticed a massive improvement in fuel consumption now that I'm approaching 10k. I've started doing longish trips on football away days around the country so I guess I've adopted a more economical mindset ..usually on the way there and I guess the engine is now loosening up a bit. I'm not sure how the ECU is interpreting things either. On the way home its a different story, I enjoy the car and what it has to offer hence my differing fuel figures As for the lag - oh yes, its there. Sports mode and some revs negates it if you need to but its probably the worst feature of the car. Its as if they produced this wonderful engine and then did everything they could to try and make it conform to EU regs and perhaps the economy figures I'm bleating on about .
