  1. Stainless steel available for under £400, he probably needs to cross that bridge when he comes to it.
  2. Your garage sounds extremely honest so fair play to them. My guess is the front discs have done 65K and the car being a bit of a lump its probably that time. The rear discs probably have a few years left in them. Most indies wont allow you to buy brake components and ask them to fit (they prefer to buy themselves ) due to obvious safety reasons, however you can always steer them in the right direction with prices. Having owned an IS200 for many years these are simply consumables but done properly should last another 5 years, rarely as much as the originals but enough to give you peace of mind.
  3. It's a decent all rounder , I just wish I had room for an ISF or even an RCF as well hence I'm finding myself on the F club forum more often than not - seems like an decent place to be a bit like the IS200 forum a decade ago. As @Comedian states I'd probably struggle to hand over £20k plus to an individual without the protection a dealership offers which is a valid point.
  4. I did this with my 135i on a BMW forum. Some guy started communicating with me over it, said I had it priced to high then later bought it from a dealer (after I'd part ex'd it for the Lex ) for £3K more than I was offering it to him privately. It still had 12 months of the manufacturers warranty, a year on the service plan, had just had a major service (inc plugs). The daft thing was that the forum starting moaning it was too high yet when it appeared at the main dealer there was a race on the same forum to buy it. I guess main dealer protection is worth its weight in gold, the possibility of part ex and also more importantly finance options come into play.
  5. Slightly lipped discs should not be an advisory. Go to any Lexus forecourt and many cars on sale will have slightly lipped discs, just stick your hand between the alloy wheel and check. On numerous occasions I've negotiated over cars and they will argue the discs are within tolerances - yet they pick it up at an MOT- quelle surprise. Incidentally what's your mileage and if the discs are £33.69 get them done (they wont be but you can have fun trying) As for the shocks- I would say get a second opinion but see they are doing them under warranty.
  6. Yes. I linked a few service prices from Lexus and its on a par or actually more expensive than Lexus, however can't help with Toyota prices. https://www.jardinemotors.co.uk/lexus/servicing-and-parts-offers/fixed-price-servicing/
  7. Your Lexus is a Toyota as you know. You might need to get beyond the reception desk to get this sorted as more than often than not they've only done a course in how the coffee machine works.
  8. Don't apologise. You made the accusation and you want something to fit your agenda whatever that is. Am I sensing some kind of political correctness when you are happy to to ignore what others might deem to be offensive..ie the term retarded or does that get lost in translation when its suits your argument.
  9. I had no idea or didnt care where Linas was from until he starting telling me the laws on reflective clothing where he comes from. I've never mentioned it, its never been an issue but he introduced the fact that there are laws in relation to reflective clothing in his country. So if his country has laws on reflective clothing for pedestrians (and we dont) why can't I ask if his country has a Highway code. As I said, it pays to read the thread before jumping to conclusions about xenophobia.
  10. and this is the thing...are you also anti horse riders because they hold you up ? I'm sorry mate but unless we get an attitude change like Holland / Germany / France you will continue to feel totally exasperated that a cyclist added on a whole minute or two to your journey...
  11. I've extracted numerous points or are you choosing to ignore them. You state that cyclists are retarded / a menace / a nuisance - all your words. You have stated you want to assault them (punch the C###t down). You have specifically demonstrated your impatience towards cyclists by stating you have a V6 and 204 BHP at your disposal whilst cyclists allegedly upset you by making progress. (Of course its satire now - it wasn't when you originally posted it) The Highway code give drivers specific responsibilities in relation to cyclists....I suggest you buy one, study it and take the big chip off your shoulder. All road users have a responsibility towards each other, cyclists pedestrians and everyone else who uses a road. If you think a cyclist is acting aggressively by hogging a lane and you're getting angry and upset (as you have admitted to ) then the aforementioned Highway code will tell you the lawful reason why they may be doing it. You simply cannot just dismiss cyclists as a public nuisance, rub your hands and walk away .
  12. Sorry for upsetting you Rebecca and @shahpor but if you were to read the content of the posts you'd find it was aimed at someone who appears to be totally anti cyclist and impatient with it when it comes to advancing from A to B in his V6 (his words) I've no issue with his moped / mirror thing, indeed I told him so and best of luck getting it sorted. His attack on cyclists as a whole...calling them retarded appears to be acceptable to you and others for some reason. Try riding a bicycle through a city and perhaps look at things from another perspective.
  13. Give over. The trend is for people like you to disrespect cyclists having read the complete vitriol and detritus you've aimed at them. You need to understand that you don't own the road in your V6 204 bhp metal box. (I chucked that in because for some reason you think the size of your engine relates to your entitlement to progress down a road ). Answer me this. Have you ever read the Highway code ? My guess is you passed your test in Poland / Latvia or whatever....as part of it did you study the Highway Code as its blatantly obvious to me you've never set eyes on it.
  14. I don't disagree with that. However pop over to a BMW forum and see how many times their turbo charged engines have issues. I think we all know that Lexus run their cars far within potential capabilities for a reason. How do you define slightly ?
  15. Under 7 seconds for the IS200t is substantially faster than the IS250..not slightly if we were to go by official figures. That said if you want 'fast acceleration' you would probably look elsewhere. Been there seen it done and It gets boring after a while mind. Like the ST driver mentioned in this thread you always feel as if you have something to prove.
  16. £10 on lunch most days bloody hell
  17. We get it..you have a V6 (with only 204hp - your words mind) and these **** **** ******** cyclists are making you look a bit of a tit.
  18. There are idiots in all walks of life (cycling included) but in my experience there are far more behind a wheel and you appear to be demonstrating that quite well. Mandatory only under certain conditions of course ie after dark in rural areas, poor lighting conditions etc.As you say the jury is out but I'm surprised Linas hasn't mentioned helmets in his anti cyclist rants.
  19. If you advise the vet you have no insurance the bill will magically decrease by 90% well at least 75% A bit like taking a car to a body repair place ..there are always two prices. We've had a virtual kennel and cattery for the last 30 years and the biggest bill was £400 for a hip removal on a Jack Russell. Vets tend to be non money grabbing folk - well the old timers do. back on topic..roughly I never had an extended warranty on the IS200. I did however on my recent BMW as the BMW warranty is allegedly second to none but the cars aren't .. I'm undecided on the IS200t - warranty up in 12 months. I've read some disappointing stuff on here in relation to Lexus warranty claims however, also some good stuff (Just to balance things up).
  20. The thread that keeps on giving. Where exactly do you come from Linas? I'm honestly intrigued as I've cycled thousands of miles through many cities in mainland Europe and look here I am alive, non retarded ,not suffering from cancer and strangely devoid of truck collisions (London is probably the safest city I've been to in that regard) Is this the place local pedestrians must wear high viz / reflection at night due to the actions of impatient drivers like you per chance Pray tell
