  1. Its called a typo mate and tired eyes. Of course you'd be the first to leap on that one. Low numbers you say.. the same low numbers as an M3 /M4 per chance ? Explain that one away like your 330i weird comparison. Back on topic. Lets chuck a Mercedes C class into the equation , perhaps a Volvo S60 T4 as well as the A4 and the previously mentioned JAGUAR and VRS. You keep on battering the Lexus corner as you do best...
  2. 124 IS200t's ?? There appear to be 7 RCF's currently taxed and only 229 ICF'S so a little unfair there Linas ...bearing in mind how long the ICF has been around. Are you going to pop over to the F forum and tell them their cars are a flop ..or suggest building one from one of those 14 thousand IS220's Very selective as usual if you don't mind me saying, which of course you won't
  3. Lovely car. My first Lexus experience was a test drive in an IS300 down the M27. Shortly after doing an advanced driving course for my old profession which will remain nameless. The salesmen came out of that car looking slightly shell shocked. If I had room on the drive or in the garage I'd have one .
  4. Tyres aside and for the benefit of anyone who searches wheel bearing on the forum and happens upon the thread. You will notice a back plate behind the calipers that sits extremely close to the discs. In time (probably too early yet for this generation of cars) the outer edge of the disc and / or the back plate will corrode. The two can make contact (or can do if the back plate is damaged / bent) and will produce a droning sound (usually on cornering ) . It sounds like the wheel bearings on its way out so worth checking.
  5. And of course this thread isn't about you two slagging off the IS200t .. post#2...well peachy I'm here to defend my car and educate you bearing in mind you base performance on traffic light tear ups with ST200's correct? The evidence is on this thread. The vehicle was never advertised as a performance vehicle. It sits comfortably amongst similar 4 cylinder petrol turbos in that aspect as I said earlier. That is the BMW 320I ,Audi A4 TFSI, likewise Skoda Octvavia VRS and the others I mentioned..all so conveniently ignored by you. As a matter of fact its quicker than the BMW and Audi. Someone keeps throwing a 330i into the equation but ignores the far better selling 320i. The engines are almost identical, one has lower compression, has been mapped and has a hefty price tag on top that doesn't include options. Lexus have chosen not to squeeze every inch of power out of their engines which is why they tend to be so damned reliable, unlike our German friends You didn't pick your car based on performance (obviously), I sold a 2012 3 litre twin turbo BMW to get back into a Lexus so It wasn't high on my agenda . I didn't want to do hybrid and didn't want to go backwards into an IS250. Your reasons for it being discontinued in the UK are like you performance figures for you car - plucked from thin air. Look at the post above you. Its still sold in the US and Canada and is doing very well . Have a good day
  6. https://www.0-60specs.com/lexus-is-200t-0-60-times/ 6.5 seconds... Happy to help.
  7. Let me assist you then. Current makes / models for sale with 4 pot 2 litre turbo engines with roughly the same or worse boy racer 0- 60 times to the IS200t if that's your thing..which I guess it is. Approx same price range / weight etc Skoda Octavia VRS standard or 230 (6.7) Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 Turbo (6.9) Jaguar 2.0 EX as above (6.7 ) BMW 3 series 320i (7.2 ) Audi A4 TFSI (7.2 ) These may well be the bulk of 2 litre petrol turbo charged engines sold in the UK . Even the new Golf GTI is only marginally quicker at 6.4 seconds whilst much lighter. I'l'll concede they may have slightly better fuel economy but they all have one thing in common : They aren't a Lexus. Why haven't these cars been discontinued? Manufacturers have various derivatives of their engines. Skoda have the VRS 245, Audi the TFSI Quattro for example, Jaguar the F type and BMW the 330i .Yes they are faster, as is a F1 1.6 engine but I think you're being highly selective if you think Lexus had any intention of competing with these. Which is a shame really as I know we'd all love a better choice.
  8. But, but. but Are we really comparing a Vauxhall with a Lexus on a Lexus form ...yes we are !! When did LOC go all boy racer on me ? Many cars have a turbo strapped to them nowadays and joe public are largely unaware. Yet strapping one to a Lexus is suddenly seen as a go faster marketing tool by two posters on this site and no one else - not even Lexus. My father in laws Skoda has a turbo on it, my daughters mini has one as well. I don't see them thrashing the seven bells out of them and comparing them to 'anything else with a turbo' ..ok the daughter probably does but she has no idea it has a turbo on it, what it does and why. Lets no forget that it was the IS250 that lost Lexus the vast proportion of its UK market share when it was introduced as the replacement for the IS200/300. Perhaps we can analyse that fact and come up with some constructive reasons as to why.
  9. What we need is an IS250, an IS200t, a set of traffic lights and a boy racer in an ST200. You 'give the nod' and we will scientifically prove beyond all reasonable doubt how quick our motors are .
  10. Two completely different cars and depends on your needs. You have the choice of thirsty old tech with an ancient six pot or new tech that does a job and will be considerably cheaper to run...just not that excitingly. If you want a proper six pot go German as they will blow the IS250 out the water if that's your thing. Red is nice though
  11. Probably the biggest load of gumph I've read on this forum.... lol As stated most Lexus are sold to business users and this didn't fit as per ColinBarbers post. Still sold in the US, a great car. If I want performance I don't do Lexus but the IS200t is no slouch (far quicker than the IS250) and far more economical and of course bomb proof.
  12. I haven't noticed this. I'm due my 3rd year service in September.
  13. Not sure if you got this sorted ? Here's a couple of pics of my engine bay. [/URL]
  14. Same colour as my IS200t and a decent reminder for me to clean the bloody thing
  15. The issue as stated is firstly the price and secondly how to charge the thing if you live in a house with on street parking or in a block of flats..in other words millions of people. This EV thing will move as quickly as battery technology and charging allows. ..and that is S...L...O..W I would rather the Govt put funding into subsidising and improving public transport in the first instance.
  16. Nailed on. The OP will be out of pocket big time whatever happens. The next three to five year premiums will be one big headache. Simply ringing them and reporting 'an incident' (as required by most Insurance policies) no matter how minor is not advisable. That said the OP is now stuck between a rock and a hard place.
  17. Absolutely gorgeous looking car and colour..very well done
  18. Warm water. We have a big jug and ideally the hot tap in the downstairs loo feeds directly from the hot water tank. Sorts the wife and kids out. I don't need it as rarely get out of my pit before the car has defrosted.
  19. Indeed. I've also just had my arm bent by my lad and purchased an LG OLED...it looks amazing in UHD.
  20. Mine appears to be spot on....no complaints and very quick. However it appears to take precedent over the heating system / fan......or is all the juice going to the lovely heated seats. The whole thing is still a complete mystery to me..is it a safety thing that windows getting cleared are a priority over cabin temperature ? I have no idea.
  21. Damn My old IS200 is still gunning it despite clocking up 658,218 miles in 2011 and passing the MOT a day later with 65223 miles In my many years of ownership I dont think it ever failed a MOT...yet its record is littered with 3 fails none of which I was aware of, including wipers, headlight aim too high and tyres. I think the lesson here is that the site and history are far from accurate so dig a little deeper if you can. That aside its a brilliant resource.
  22. Just popping out to convert my IS200t to an ISF Apart from a radiator and a bit of piping what else do I need chaps....I have a Euro car parts up the road, oh yeah and a Screwfix. Great thread by the way, It kind of makes me feel warm inside..and I don't even own one
