  1. Which was over 20 years ago. No one's disputing what the situation might be like in 20 years time but the debate that you're encouraging appears to be based around the fact that that a Tesla is better / equal value, has better performance and better suits the ergonomics of the general population at this moment in time. I don't doubt the performance aspect but as pointed out you can buy that elsewhere for half the price. Its still a novelty, people are renting them for special occasions (stag do's / parties) around here and I can't really see that changing until there's the ability for these things to be charged quickly and conveniently (ie minutes) . Battery and charging tech is notoriously slow to develop.
  2. Real people can pick up a 3 month old IS300h with 100 miles on the clock for just over £30K. Wait 12/18 months and its £20K. Who in their right mind would spend £41K on a new IS300h unless it was on PCP or you are a company car driver quoting some daft made up Lexus price which no one ever actually pays. So that's a £11 grand reduction for a proven reliable, luxury motor . £11K will buy you about 100,000 petrol / hybrid miles .£15K differential so more compared to your Tesla At the moment things don't add up. How exactly is the average motorist gaining anything from this scenario ? (ps I get the Nissan thing but not the comparison with Tesla and a luxury marque such as Lexus with its proven reliability. )
  3. Bloody hell that's good .The RCF is an itch I really want to scratch but the only thing holding me back is I do a long run a few times a month to watch my local footie club away from home or the odd airport trip ..mid 30's on a run would do me fine with a random blat thrown in en route. The other itch is a motor home but lets not go there.
  4. and you've nailed it. We can bang on about it for an eternity but the cost of these cars and the sheer impracticality of charging the things for a massive percentage of the population is a complete no go. Calling @ganzoom
  5. It would need to be Lexus quality for me to make the jump.
  6. Its worth bearing in mind that a Lexus approved service history isn't necessarily a full service history (for people who aren't aware and buying from a main dealer- or after its been through the main dealer network) I think its a shame dealers use this to their advantage. I appreciate that's not the point of your thread but I always like to drop it in if I can to raise awareness. As you state a stamp means nothing, always ask for the receipts and read them thoroughly (apologies for going slightly off tangent) .
  7. I'm not sure you buy one for speed. About 10 seconds to 60 according to figures but as we know on here that means nothing 😈. Have a test drive, they can be a bit marmite.
  8. The only common denominator I'm seeing here (Sports Direct and ECP) are that they both sell a hell of a lot of stuff, hence they can reduce their prices. The branded stuff in both outlets is exactly that...branded. I've never seen Adidas / Nike in Sports Direct much cheaper than anywhere else, its simply marketed better with numerous outlets so you can try it on , quality same as...err....anywhere else ?. ECP deliver to several independent garages around our way....they have a fleet of vans. My understanding with brake parts is that the garage won't fit if you supply. As for paint, yep there's a rumour that the stuff they sell in the sheds is inferior quality.....to what and to whom I wonder? Most punters buy paint from the sheds and it does what it says on the tin and that must be 99% of the market so yeah..I just don't get it. .
  9. To the OP. There's nothing the matter with Euro Car parts, Brembo or Pagid its all genuine and I've used them for years on my families fleet of cars, including my IS200 back in the day. That said, with your new ISF did you check the discs weren't lipped and ask for pad measurements ? I'd insist on all new at that mileage if they haven't been done...or as you say perhaps you're stocking up.....actually I find it a decent barometer of future car servicing by looking at ECP and they are decent prices. Lovely looking car by the way.
  10. Strange that. Not just with Lexus but also BMW . My last BMW was apparently the dealer principals car before it went to Mr and Mrs Miggins down the road for 12 months. I think its code for "its a fast car that's been ragged within an inch of its life by everyone at the dealership but scrubs up well".
  11. I agree the title of the video is misleading. What the video did in my case was reassure me that leaving it in drive wasn't causing undue wear and tear or was a 'problem' as such . I was previously putting it in neutral but really cant see the point now .
  12. Yep seen that so use mine daily for that reason only. Also worry slightly about mullering 10 kids playing down the bottom of the cul de sac if I didn't. Understand over the pond they rarely use it.
  13. Its one one those things like do you set the foot/ handbrake when parked up. I appreciate its off topic but opinion is divided on that as well.
  14. Explained here at 7.16 in the video. I used to stick in N but as he summarises there's no good reason to so I just leave it in Drive.
  15. I'm not a paint shop expert but bearing in mind your'e getting the bonnet done under warranty and they also did the dents I'd go with it, the price sounds reasonable. Also a good idea to get it done at the same time I reckon.
  16. A service plan plus extended warranty on mine would be nearly £80 a month. I'll keep the service plan but doubt I'll get the warranty until its a fair bit older. I guess it depends if you want peace of mind. That said this article gives the GS 100% reliability according to What car http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-5630807/The-reliable-second-hand-luxury-cars.html
  17. So this so could possibly comes under Careless Driving according to the article I think that's stretching things somewhat. What the article negates to say is that thanks to Theresa May there are hardly any traffic cops left to deal with it.
  18. Linas My list of cars was in reply to Rebecca who stated "Infact I can't think of a modern 2 litre turbo thats actually slower than the Lexus." Ive provided a list and they are nearly all slower. What part of this are you struggling to get your head around ? People dont buy a Lexus for its bone shaking performance...there's a raft of other stuff including reliability / comfort /customer service.
  19. Every weekend you say ? I'm often here midweek as well. The IS250 is a lovely car peachers but I believe we are currently in the process of slagging off the IS200t if i'm not mistaken.
  20. You can do PM's without being abusive Peachy old boy Thanks anyway. Hopefully its not the beer talking mate.
