I hate Marmite but blow me I've never badgered Unilever to change its taste. I also don't partake in Ribena but I understand they've gone all Lexus on us and changed things. Instead of chucking in a poxy 4 pot (noisy) with a turbo (with massive lag ) and an 8 speed gearbox (thats crap cos its tested on a bench ) they've committed the worlds biggest sin- they've taken out the sugar. Apparently it tastes like dishwater, whatever that tastes like. You see that BMW forum over there .➡️.......I think they might have reported a missing person.

...and a very nice box it is too. As for the gear hunting, if it happens its almost imperceptible, you only tend to notice when you have the gearbox display on the dash and see it change. As for overtaking or flooring it, there is a small degree of turbo lag that almost dissipates if you drive in sports mode. If there is any complaint I would say that ECO and even normal mode tend to be on the sedate side, they've tried to eek every bit of economy out of it. What I do find quite hilarious is that a certain poster on here lifts a few negatives from critical reviews, blows them out of all proportion and bangs on about them for an eternity, completely ignoring the many positive reviews and attributes . No Lexus make or model is immune I'm afraid which leads to completely biased and disjointed debate and discussion.

I think I agree with rayaans here. If you agree to buy a vehicle under the terms of that stamp , I'm struggling to see how can you have any recourse. You agreed to purchase an unroadworthy vehicle. You agreed to trailer it away and buy it for spares and repairs. Civil courts deal in the balance of probabilities. If you both agreed it was for spares / repair on the balance of probabilities a court would assume it was unroadworthy at the point of sale as there is no evidence to prove otherwise. It might be roadworthy at the point of an MOT pass but 10 minutes after that MOT it might not be. In relation to the receipt (and they would argue a degree of transparency in that they kept that documentation) , many Lexus have knocking noises from the suspension, it looks like the work done was to address that, I had similar with my IS200 as did many others.

Don’t do it they say. Don’t buy a C63

Just further to this I recall he mentioned Christchurch. http://www.westovergroup.co.uk/news/westover-jaguar-land-rovers-new-75m-service-centre-opens-in-christchurch-/ Showroom opening over there soon. -
A dodgy part on the IS200t engine
doog442 replied to BaransuIS250's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Thanks for the heads up.It appears to be a common problem in the US on the IS200t...no issues with mine on 15K. What was the issue you had with your battery ? -

I commented on the rear car park being empty and he said the Jag servicing had moved on so I presumed the rest would follow. I'm might be wrong in that aspect but it was all very ghost town out the back. As for Audi and their gym and spa, I did pop up there once but didn't qualify for ownership as wasn't a hairdresser (Which is all very off topic so I apologise) -

I took my car in to Poole for a service last week and I was the only punter.....when I collected it I was the only punter. The sad thing is I wasn't even offered a coffee. Its been the same for years, how the place makes any money is beyond me with the prices on the forecourt being so much more than Bristol, Exeter or Hedge End, I've never seen more than two customers in there. I wonder when the Westover Group will bin them off. The Jag place is relocating, the Lotus place is so up its arse I'm surprised they sell any cars - its an extremely odd set up along that road. Pop into BMW , Toyota or Nissan in Wallisdown Road and they are all busy with people simply looking. I wonder if Lexus should relocate. -
You said the official was 8.4 and you did it 7.4...thats one whole second.. You also stated that Lexus performance figures were negligible yet when it came to your OB1 kenobi Amazon measuring load of crap you proved otherwise. I ask the question..if your old 110K mile tub can demolish official performance figures, why cant any other model including the ES do the same☺️ ....and more importantly ..who cares
-
I have personally tested that on OBD2+GPS and I consistently get 7.6s for metric and 7.4s for imperial acceleration. I definitely doesn't do anything under 7s (unless modified)... but neither it is 8.4s happy to help-😂.. You magically lost a second from the official 8.4 0-60 times .... on a 2006 IS250 yet you claim on this thread Lexus underestimate these times by a negligible margin. yes Lexus underrates acceleration by negligible margin.. say 0.2-0.4s, still they are in different ball park from competitors where the difference is in several whole seconds.

I actually fear for the future of this place. I recall the birth of the IS250 , the IS300h, the CT and dare I whisper it the IS200t.(you know that slow / thirsty old 4 pot with a sh it turbo lobbed on 😉) The excitement, joining a community of like minded people, the build up etc only to find a bloke in a 12 year old IS250 rocking up to rip you and your pride and joy up for arse paper. I'm sure it'll go down like a lead balloon.

IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!
doog442 replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Mine went in for an intermediate service yesterday and there was no mention of the cabin filter. On the major service last year they asked if I wanted it replaced for £90. I declined as am very low mileage and thought it was a rip off. As an aside does any know if its difficult to change ? -
IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!
doog442 replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yet you can bet your bottom dollar that if you part exchanged the IS300h at Lexus Bradford with the essential care service history, they would still put in on the forecourt as a Lexus approved service history. Can you confirm that your essential care package quote is for three services ? -
Nah mate. You said the official was 8.4 and you had done it in 7.4.. You cant move the goalposts when you simply feel like it.. If we were to apply your logic to the ES then it brings it within what some people (a minority ) might deem an acceptable standard. I doubt most potential buyers would really care.

What Makes a Premium Car these days?

A write off 'for now' ...? Its either a write off or not .If it is then please do us a favour and buy a car from a manufacturer that you won't moan and bitch about I mean criticise until the cows come home. Obviously it won't be a Lexus.😏 -

I remain absolutely amazed at your in depth knowledge of a vehicle based on a 20 minute test drive (plus a BMW sponsored magazine review) Were you driving it eco mode...I guess so. The V6 thing is blokish and antiquated....the market has moved on and peoples perceptions have moved on likewise. -

That's an extremely polarised view and very outdated but as you say its all about opinions. I'd argue it doesn't reflect modern society. Your average lady driver for example (a large percentage of the buying population ) doesn't care whats under the bonnet or if its RWD. To them its the badge be it Mercedes, Range Rover (for higher earners / more wealthy) and with the younger generation Mini is absolutely considered a premium car. -

I agree that the Mk2 felt good, slightly better and more refined than my Mark 1 but it was left behind, not in the comfort stakes but in the rapid world of competition that gripped the market back then and that was perceived luxury combined with economy. -

They weren't the opposition.. The IS200t blows that BMW diesel out the water btw and try getting a fully loaded 330i for the same price as an IS200t. Get on the BMW forums and look at the reliability of squeezing things out of a 4 cylinder BMW turbo Must try harder mate..😂 This is the oppo and lets be honest none of us buy them for speed as they arent exactly a performance motor.....all 4 pot turbos Jaguar 2.0 EX (6.7 ) BMW 3 series 320i (7.2 ) Audi A4 TFSI (7.2 ) Mercedes C class (7.3) -

Yes the same old moan from you ..🤣..cant let it go me old mucker I think we proved it was faster, quieter and more efficient than your old tub and has similar performance as all the major opposition in this bracket. As for never finding the right gear...I believe that was reported once in a motoring test drive ...I suspect you've taken that as gospel in your constant effort to have a dig as I've never come across it in two years of ownership. Its extremely smooth and quiet as any IS is and always has been. -

Drive a new Lexus on a regular basis then test the opposition. Some people obviously don't have the chance to do this 😉 It becomes apparent what makes a premium car and Lexus are still bang up there in build quality, reliability and all round exclusiveness.
