  1. More people would use public transport if they could. How many more lanes do you want on the M25 😉 I would rather they complete a better and cheaper rail network than new and wider roads. I live in the SW and the overwhelming majority would rather take a train to London than drive and then find a place to park but prices stop them...ditto Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool. As this thread is about electric vehicles add on charging points to the equation. The country will not build more roads, ask swampy. Public transport is the future.
  2. I'd rather the Government spent that on improving and subsidising public transport in all areas, including rural areas. This is the real future.
  3. Your truck scenario : Highway code S162 Before overtaking you should make sure there is a suitable gap in front of the road user you plan to overtake.
  4. SEVEN ? 😂 Who the hell in their right mind would even think about overtaking seven cars on a single carriageway road ? I presume you mean seven cars in a line and at one go..You really are the next statistic if you go out on a road with that mindset. even if you accept that your car won't do it. Would you do it in an RCF ?
  5. You're right times have changed .Traffic is slower, roads are more congested and speed limits are enforced far more than they were back then. So why on earth would you need a faster car under todays conditions ? The road infrastructure hasn't kept pace with technological advancement so you drive according to the road and traffic conditions, not what your car can do .
  6. In my experience Lexus don't do large discounts on approved used in that price bracket. You may get something off with a finance deal and an extended warranty thrown in but not thousands off.
  7. Sorry Linas but that is just ridiculous. 7.3 isn't 'very very slow'. I was taught to drive and do overtakes at ludicrous speeds on slow and fast country roads / motorways / Cities in a 2 litre Sierra saloon with a 0-60 time of 9 seconds and trust me we did it without any difficulty. We then advanced to a 3 litre Vauxhall Carlton with a 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds which by your reckoning must be slow if 7.3 is very, very slow. Its how you drive and it wasn't much more than dropping down a gear prior to moving into the offside lane to get a proper view ahead before making a safe overtake.
  8. b) Then you get stuck behind Doris and Jim in their caravan.... b) Then Its Ken and Doreen in their lovely camper van b) Then its Bob and Cathy in their i10 Then you revert to a) as after an an hour you are only two vehicles ahead of Doris and Jim
  9. Roadcraft ? Well there's a blast from the past. For some reason I kept the blue version from the late 80's only because they made us buy the bloody thing. If those courses at Devizes taught me anything it was the importance of advanced observation, limit points and how quick you can make it back after a night out in Swindon.
  10. That was my point. The fact it doesn't have its own model points towards lack of knowledge at the Autotrader end rather than anything Lexus are trying to manipulate. How can Lexus sell IS200t's when they are listed under cars that ceased production 13 years ago ? Four years back when I was looking for my 135I there was plenty of cross contamination in the search field but that appears to have sorted itself out. Do Lexus decide the listing ? If they do then yes perhaps they are attempting to open up the RCF to a larger market.
  11. Perhaps there's also an agenda with dumping IS200t's and IS200's together😉
  12. I'm not seeing this issue on the official Lexus used approved site. Perhaps its a problem with Auto Trader.
  13. I might have to consider an extended warranty as its three years old in October. Someone on the US forums suggested the problem was so prevalent that they really should do a recall . I haven't noticed the gearbox hill issue but will monitor.
  14. There comes a time in a cars life when its best to avoid a main dealer. I don't think yours has reached that just yet so I would get a second opinion. Lexus have a habit of magicking a few things up, weeping shocks being one - ask for photographic proof. Pads/ Discs / air filter are serviceable items...run your finger over the disc and see if there is a noticeable 'lip' on the outer edge..get an independent to replace. If the radiator has gone they are £100 online...warranty should cover it A CV boot weeping ? - a new clip of the jubilee type..as long as the boot isn't perished. - That said you purchased a warranty and they are royally taking the p_ss so fight every step of the way. The so called Full Lexus service history probably isn't but look into it. Why would all of these issues suddenly manifest themselves on the last service ?
  15. I paid £170 fully comp, protected no claims etc for the IS200t in March. I've done a dummy run on a new RX450h and it comes in at £240 or £300 with a low excess. Its dependent on age, occupation, annual mileage, points and where you live so I think we'd struggle to make any meaningful comparison.
  16. To be fair I would have gone for the 350 if it was here and its probably the only thing Linas and me agree upon, However it isn't here so I did a back to back with the IS250 and IS200t over numerous test drives and decided, without doubt the IS200t was a better all round drive . I left a straight six Lexus, to go to a straight six BMW with a turbo to come back to a 4 pot turbo that does everything better than the previous cars and with newer tech. It was a no brainer. That said I'm itching for an RCF now so lets see what happens. I've had two years of brilliant ownership, as a daily driver its spot on.
  17. LOL 😉. You've been quoting the same few negatives that have cropped up in a select few IS200t reviews almost word for word and I read them all before making my purchase. You admit you haven't driven 90% of the Lexus fleet yet claim to know about them all. Strangely you claim you read reviews on all but negated to study the car you choose to hate.
  18. I see pics up now https://hedgeend.usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/IS-F/50-V8-Black-Leather-r1bryx3 Not that far from me, dealt with Hedge End in the past - it all went wrong but that was 11 years ago ..shame about the colour😉 ..or I might have wombled down there.
  19. It must be amazing looking at all of those cars on the forecourt. Those journos tend to get a chance to drive the things, do you ?
  20. They are so amazing you haven't actually owned one. I'm sure we would all embrace your opinion if you actually walked the walk rather than talk the talk.
  21. Some great posts and puts the thread on an even keel. Thankyou for posting and reminding me what this place is all about. This forum was always about embracing Lexus, not slagging it off at every opportunity, something has been lost in translation along the way.
  22. Small claims court / lives a fair distance from the cowboy dealer are there any positives to take out of this ?. I see Lexus mentioned the possible accident damage when doing the pads / discs and diagnostics. The dealer didnt hide this either if the OP has the receipts . Did Lexus do a health check as well, they usually do .You can bet they would have been all over the car like a rash when it was on the ramps and nothing else came back. That may be a positive. I see the owner in Ireland was clearly a very wealthy property developer, drop him an e mail and ask about the accident 😉 or make a few enquiries with the people on the receipts for the knocking noise and ask if they know its history since then. The OP examined the vehicle and was happy enough to hand over the money probably thinking he had a bargain with the big red stamp. It obviously has an MOT, new pads / discs. The only issue being the warning light. I'm in no doubt they cleared the codes with an OBD reader so it may be something as simple as an oil change but how would you deal with a warning light when you live that far from the dealer.? A few choices : Get it independently examined and go for their throat through small claims but I fear he may struggle having agreed it was unroadworthy to try and get a deal. Keep the motor, Lexus have looked at it and nothing else has been flagged up , new pads / discs fitted, it has an MOT. Deal with the code and see if the dealer will pay for the costs involved in that. Enjoy it or sell it via webuyanycar, cut your losses , run and learn from your mistake.
