Lexus F-Cars in the park, Newby Hall
doog442 replied to Cezar B's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
They did the same to me in the 80's...Chantmarle...for the record I was presented with a Bronze Medallion which apparently was the flagship award for life saving. Simply having a PTI not drowning me was worthy of a medal in itself. Nice vid @Cezar B -
I stuck my old kitchen in the garage....similar result . Is that a radiator in there ? ..fair play

A couple of RCF's here
doog442 replied to doog442's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Haha...I'm not sure I've seen a white one in the flesh. I think it can suit certain cars but Coventry is a long way to go to decide if I actually like the colour or not. 😉 I guess the point of the thread is that I'm pleasantly surprised to see these prices, I mean 19 months old ! Spec wise am I missing something other than the lack of TVD ? -

Cheers mate. I saw it had been reserved . 'Press open day event car' gives me images of the Jag F type drift track experience at Goodwood last year or similar. 😂....yeah I guess not but finding a one careful privately owned RCF appears as rare as rocking horse stuff. The white one looks good value, I mean thats 40% off list at 19 months old! ...but its white. I still have PTSD from owning a white Talbot Alpine in the early 80's before white went out of fashion and came back in.It probably looks better in the flesh I guess. -
From Lexus Coventry but neither on autotrader..yet £37K for a 67 plate. VO67OPL appears to have been up for sale at Lexus Cheltenham previously https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/RC-F/V8-50-Sunroof-s4bzvar My preferred colour at roughly the same price.. https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/RC-F/50-Sunroof-ACCPCS-Mark-Levinson-Hifi-ULEZ-Approved-u3by4m2 VK17YBZ Both seem to be sliding into my price range and appear to be decent value but does anyone have any idea on their history ? Appreciate Rattus Norvegicus is still on a sabbatical

Strangely enough I part ex'd my IS200t for a BMW 340i seven months ago. However it would be unfair to compare a 2 litre turbo against a 3 litre turbo, the problem is that Lexus offer nothing in the UK that does compare. One of the reasons for change was the B58 engine and 8 speed auto (an absolutely sublime combination ) and if the B58 is good enough for a Supra then its good enough for me even with my Lexus history / values. It really is a great bit of kit. so I would certainly argue that there are better products available, however that depends on the definition of the word 'better'. I've had no issues with the current car and likewise I had zero issues with the BMW135i I had before the IS200t so perhaps I'm lucky. As you say the IS200t is no slouch but it needs to be permanently in Sports mode to have acceptable performance or it demonstrates a sluggish side that can temper even the enjoyment of pottering around town. I would describe throttle response as its main gripe, or lack of it but you get used to it. Build quality appears on a par with the Lexus, performance is naturally on a different planet, infotainment and sound system (Harmon Karden) far superior. The car is more refined (due to the six pot), economy is on a par despite the different sized engines. I really enjoyed the IS200t but nowadays like to change my cars every few years. As mentioned above its quite exclusive, looks good and I could certainly sleep at night without worrying about reliability. If I go totally sensible I wouldn't hesitate to get an IS300h and that may or may not happen, likewise the complete other way and get an RCF. Life's too short 😉

Stunning or Not ?

I saw the ad and quickly moved on It can join the white and orange ones that appear to hang around for a while, with white moving slightly quicker than orange. Any decent colour (none of the above) tends to shift quicker. -
Totally agree. Not just the motoring press but the masses who buy their cars on finance and change them every three to four years. Anyway life is too short. Just buy what you want Lexus have tried to shoe horn so many into a hybrid, there's a reason long time posters have gone elsewhere.

They under filled mine in a service last year . Did you check after the previous service ? That said I would expect some oil usage at that mileage

The Octavia is highly regarded . I was reading that you could source a new VRS with discounts for not much more than £20K.... Every second taxi around our place is an Octavia If I wanted a long term reliable work horse / keeper then this would be on my list. However life is too short for such a sensible choice😉

UK set to adopt vehicle speed limiters
doog442 replied to Nico72's topic in Lexus General Discussions
The CTC is still going strong btw. Their forum ( recently renamed Cycling UK forum) is in many ways similar to this place. Its mainly full of enthusiasts who simply want to go about their life unmolested by motorists who think they have a divine right to 'own the road'. I agree about personal responsibility or lack of it. 95% of my many thousands of cycling miles a year are fine, with no confrontation. However there will always, without fail be the motorist who sees a cyclist ahead and their first thought is simply to get by them. Likewise there are cyclists with a similar mindset with role reversal in heavy traffic situations. I had to google your last word (despite an O level grade B ) and having done so, thoroughly agree. -

There is a massive difference between the responsibilities of someone getting on a bike or behind the wheel of a car, a 45 ton HGV or if you really want to take it further piloting a plane or commanding a 100,000 ton oil tanker. Even you must accept that your capacity to cause Injury, death or damage is massively increased in a car. There are numerous cycling offences available out there, seemingly not the one you insist on simply to make a point based on three deaths. Also don't lump all cyclists into the same pot - you appear very black and white on the issue. Cycling is a transport of choice across the social spectrum. Some members of this spectrum don't give a toss about the law. As for jumping red lights. Yeah of course no motorist ever does that but by god should a cyclist do it then hell shall rain down on the bloke. -

I've never said they should be treated differently ? The Law decides that Linas (not the made up law you quoted earlier I'm afraid pal ) and the reason the law decides that is that unlike you they can differentiate between someone getting on a bike and someone getting in a car. How many cyclists were done for speeding last year ? (You see I can throw some daft statistic into the equation just to divert the issue) -

doog442 replied to Nico72's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Most were suicides. Trains dont randomly run over people because the driver gets impatient for example. Why should cyclists get treated differently for causing death you ask? Such a massively rare occurrence that you are seemingly using to deflect the issue here. I've noticed you are saying cyclists 'causing death' when you have totally smudged and minimalised road deaths, almost refusing to accept they happen and not least due to speed. -

The tool 🤣 Its a bike mate.and in a population of 65 million 3 people lost their life as a result of a collision with said 'tool' .....more people died falling over and banging there head or falling off a ladder. There is no comparison so forget it 😉 Last week some 'tool' in his van nearly wiped me out. Sat in his steel cage he had the cheek to tell me to stop swearing at him for nearly killing me. Yeah mate. -

I'm absolutely in favour of keeping the core values of the forum alive. However I had a post removed for suggesting a certain poster had an an inherent dislike of slower moving vehicles, No bad language, no offensive remarks.. The same poster has demonstrated my point in its entirety tonight 😉 -

Home Office statistics are quite accurate. Hell I used to spend a stupid amount of time filling them out back in the day! For your Information the Road Traffic Act states (I've lifted it hence some of the quotations) owing to the presence of a [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] on a road [F2or other public place], an accident occurs by which— (a)personal injury is caused to a person other than the driver of that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or (b)damage is caused— (i)to a vehicle other than that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] or a trailer drawn by that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or (ii)to an animal other than an animal in or on that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] or a trailer drawn by that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or (iii)to any other property constructed on, fixed to, growing in or otherwise forming part of the land on which the road [F3or place] in question is situated or land adjacent to such land. Theres is no grey area Linas ..The onus is on the presence of a mechanically propelled vehicle. That said , you are comparing someone sat in the seat of a 2000kg steel cage capable of a minimum of 90 / 100 MPH with someone sat on a 10Kg bicycle. You then have the temerity to state everything should be equal. -

Thanks In 2016 there were 1792 road deaths of which 102 were cyclists. 18477 cyclists were Injured (many more as all don't get reported) In 2016 3 people were killed by cyclists....did you read that.....that was THREE If you are seriously making an issue out of these figures and claiming the law is skewed then as I said you have a disproportionate issue with other legitimate road users. -

doog442 replied to Nico72's topic in Lexus General Discussions
You keep adding to your post so I will comment on the last bit. Mobile speed cameras were originally placed where there more than average instances of road traffic collisions. Static cameras were positioned in areas where road safety was paramount, outside schools etc. This is one area I agree with you to an extent. Without doubt cameras are now being used to generate funds rather than the original purpose of reducing road accident casualties. However I still believe the current speed limits are appropriate to the road conditions and sheer volume of traffic on the roads (sadly). The country is overcrowded and the recent expenditure on smart roads is simply aimed at keeping traffic moving, not at speed as you would like but safely. -

Your are quoting some random pieces of legislation but answer me this. After you casually fobbed off 1700 road deaths as if they were inconsequential : How many people are killed by cyclists ?
