Some people don't have the luxury of hanging onto a car for sale as long as dealers who can banjo it around the country for months on end. When furlough fully stops in October and the redundancies bite, things may well change. He's probably done well selling now, CAP had it at £28K .

Well this latest car has been sold because it was at a reasonable price...not cloud cuckoo land. Hopefully to someone on the forum.

Seems a fair price as a starting point rather than some of the over inflated stuff being recommended on here of late ( 37k for a private 2015 RCF carbon for example...!!) Best of luck , sorry you have to sell.

Yep, GSF's are as rare as rocking horse poo but I did mention F prices as a whole and the reason people struggle to move £30k plus cars privately.

It depends on the price point and I notice you have been personally bigging up F prices on here. There's a reason people go to dealers. It could be all about the monthlies plus the ability to VT the car if necessary and also any finance incentives. A private seller cant do this so most £30k plus cars on here get chopped in or sold to dealers. That's just how it is. The majority buy on finance and as a private seller most accept it. I'm a cash buyer but would rather pay a dealer more than buy from you for example unless you were a long standing member of the forum with a proven track record. I'm not seeing massive differences between private and dealer sale prices and I know what I would do at £30K plus with all the protection dealers offer.

I popped down my local dealership today. They've relegated the IS to the back yard where a load of 69 plates are lying their forlornly at heavily discounted prices. I think the opposition have absolutely taken them to the cleaners where finance and blingy tech is king and 3 year ownership forgoes any notion of reliability. The front is full of SUV's, obviously this is the future- just not for me.

There was a 2016 carbon bouncing around between dealer and private seller on here for £36k nearly two years ago...mileage 40k I believe Looking at some of the non carbon RCF's that have been sold recently, how much would you add on for Carbon ... I dunno. 2018 - 20k miles up for 35k...(specialist dealer told me he wouldn't touch one but if he did no more than 30k part ex) 2016- 14k miles ...29k 2016- 7k miles - sold for 29k 2015- Guy on here sold to dealer recently , now up for £30k I would try Wizzle https://www.wizzle.co.uk/ No option to sell and no cost but they will give you an idea of how much a dealer would give you and take it from there. The issue is people want finance, so dealers are king in that regard.

I can understand your disappointment. Ask to speak to the dealer principal if they don't play ball. A few scratches are to be expected on a six year old car and are easily rectified so would ask for them to be done. It may not be a perfect repair, say a touch up. The alloys are totally unacceptable for a used approved, I wouldn't have collected the car with them in that state. It really wouldn't cost them much to sort out those issues so make it politely clear you're unhappy and if they want future servicing, MOT's and possible purchases from you ask them to rectify it. I've taken a few vehicles back with previously unnoticed things (scratches on bodywork / cigarette burn on upholstery etc) over the years and within reason they've been sorted.

Do they stipulate Lexus servicing though ? No real issues with Lexus specialists but I recently saw a car that had a stamp from a back street garage at 15 months, so outside of the service schedule for warranty purposes and serviced by someone who had probably never touched an RCF in their lives, all to save some pennies. This is what I can't get my head around, why someone would buy or lease a £60k car and treat it like that. Well plenty do it appears unfortunately.

The last four RCF's I've looked at have had incomplete service histories or some kind of anomaly. An 18 plate, 67 plate, 16 plate and a 65 plate. I think this is down to people leasing the vehicles in early life so not really caring as they simply hand them back and also the outrageous Lexus dealership service costs for the RCF. I think some people also struggle with the concept of 12 month servicing when their vehicles are low mileage, compared to conditional servicing as offered by the opposition.Still at least Lexus still have a dipstick unlike BMW.

Cheers. I had a service plan on the IS and managed to negotiate a discount but because this service is imminent they won't include it. No problems with specialists but I tend not to keep my cars that long and at just over two years old the main dealer stamp might be handy if I chopped it in early doors. I'm not actually in it yet, still doing 'due diligence' and weighing up future costs. I'm used to the Luxury tax, factored in the extended warranty when required, now service costs . I won't even broach the subject of discs and pads just yet as the blood pressure is getting a bit raised

Just doing some digging. It seems service prices are the same across most dealers. £625 online and also when ringing. I guess this is oil, filter, brake fluid and a pollen filter. Any ideas on how to get this lower ? I'm aware Gold membership can get a discount,is there a way of confirming what dealers are part of this scheme ? cheers (seems very quiet on here since Ratty left )

I guess some main dealer stamps to follow would smooth things out for private buyers. Just wondering how the trade or Lexus would view it when it came to moving it on part ex. I tend to swap cars every 2/3 years nowadays until I find a keeper that is.

Just to bump this thread. I was ready to move on an RCF. After doing my 'due diligence ' and drilling down into its history I was made aware the first service was carried out at a VW specialist (Independent). For the life of me I can't get my head around why they wouldn't take the car to a Lexus dealer for its first service. That said I've contacted the garage concerned who seem like decent folk. They said they used a full Lexus service pack but also vouched for the previous owner who has a history of nice cars and seemingly always get them serviced there. They are happy to forward the paperwork. However and its a big however, I've seen how long some F cars hang around (It tends to go in cycles) and am aware on something as new as an RCF an Independent stamp (no matter how good the garage) may well impact on future resale and certainly will on part ex. Even if followed up with Lexus servicing and stamps what would be the thoughts on here ? I guess many will say avoid at all costs.

I retired at 48, pensions and everything sorted, mortgage paid off etc. What do I do ? Play golf, cycle long distances, walk our two dogs, visit National Trust properties, cook, do the housework, potter around the garden, the odd bit of DIY and plenty of travelling. I also follow our local football team all around the country and care for my elderly mother and father in law. I also seem to be the mechanic for the extended family's fleet of cars. I met an old friend, same age who'd also taken early retirement around the same time. He had no hobbies or any real Interests of note. He'd spent the last twenty years building his business up successfully , working crazy hours and knew nothing else. He told me the boredom was doing his head in and stated his Intention to go back to work, he didn't need it financially. I guess it depends on the Individual. There are days if the weather's bad for example and it can feel a bit 'samey' but I rarely feel bored. The family are starting to fly the nest so I guess that will be another chapter to keep my occupied. My daughter for example bought a flat so I had a great time helping her decorate it etc.

Popped down today for a second look as its near my mums who I was visiting. Poole seagulls have left their mark and I'm sure there's an RCF under there somewhere. I've researched the car and it's the same that was on sale at Lexus Swindon in October albeit with 3K more on the clock, it was mentioned on here back then.

Its across the board, always has been. Take a look at this....I have it in writing that a Lexus approved history isn't a full history. All I'm saying is just be careful. To get a missing service history 'approved' they simply examine it, service it and stick it on the forecourt. Most people would consider an approved service history at a Lexus dealership as something approaching a full service history..in some way, shape or form.We are talking Lexus main dealers here not some back street garage. I've never seen this from BMW or Merc dealers.

I hate to disagree but Lexus are the only company I know of who will put an approved service history (called a Lexus approved service history) on a car that doesn't actually have a full service history. Perhaps others do but you really don't expect it from this marque. Missed services, no problem just say its Lexus approved after they gave it the once over in the workshop. Ignore the marble and acres of glass and drill right down into the service records. I've been stung once on an IS200 and nearly got done over by Lexus Belfast on an RCF last year.
