  1. Strangely the one thing I want probably isn't available in any of them. Leaving the actuation zone with the keys and the car turned off should lock the car and alarm it. I think I worked out why they didn't do it, though. If the keys lose signal, or get interference, or lose battery, then you don't want to be locked in with the alarm on. G
  2. That was actually one of the cons against me getting a Lexus IS. My current car is very rare - since there's only a few hundred Alfa GTA's in the country. The first one I ever saw I bought, and I haven't seen one since except at Spring Italian day, where there were only about 4 in the midst of thousands of Alfas, Ferraris and Lambos. On the other hand, the GTA is an Alfa, and they are common enough. The lexus brand as a whole is much less common than Alfa. At the same time, again the Alfa 156 is fairly common, and the GTA is a derivative. (Although not much of it is the same - Nearly all of the body panels were changed, and the chasis is completely different. That's before you even get to suspension, brakes and engine) As I wait for my IS to arrive, I keep getting quite mopey every time I see my old car parked up anywhere. I'm really going to miss it a lot.

  4. 24 I realised I can't really get away with driving fast anymore with all the speed traps and undercover police cars, so I'm selling my GTA (plug) and settling down with a comfortable lexus.
  5. You can always stick them on youtube ? G
  6. You know I can imagine you saying that in a very Terry Thomas type voice. hur hur!
  7. My missus used to work on Service Reception for an Alfa dealership. She said she would have seen less tears and distress working in a funeral home. She still loves Alfas though. Would she like a lovely, and rather rare, 156 GTA? :winky:
  8. To be fair there are a number of young ladies who advertise themselves in phone boxes who charge far more. But with them you really do feel scr*wed! :D I can also tell you that Alfa charge around £100/ hour for labour. Though they do a much longer service interval, too. G
  9. Snap. Mine should arrive in 4 weeks too. Just in time for the 07 plate :D I really liked the Cadoxton slate, but didn't like the idea of it showing scratches and watermarks so easily. (All the ones in the dealership did, even when they were just washed, because of the "drip" points like the wing mirrors) One of them had a scratch that really stuck out, but on my GTA it wouldn't have shown at all, being silver. I went for the Argento on that basis. What colour's your interior coming in? Can't help at all on the phone mounting topic, though heh I noticed that lexus do phone mounting kits, but I've got no interest in them. With my new Motokrzr K1 I finally got a phone where I don't have to take it out of my pocket ever. I'm a bit concerned about the bluetooth binding woes I've heard of, though. G
  10. I did think about the black mats. I really don't want to see that now and think I've made a mistake, though! I asked about the sunglasses holder because on another thread someone with an SE said he thought that it was a space for them in the SE-L, on assumption. G
  11. Congratulations. I bought my 220d SE-L a few weeks ago, but it won't arrive till March. I was really tempted by silver + the beige, but at the end of the day all the examples I saw had really bad carpets, and I didn't think I could keep it clean enough, so I went for the grey. Can you tell me: Is there a sunglasses cabin behind the map lights? Thanks
  12. Something about the version of bluetooth, perhaps. I'll look into it, but it's hard without actually having the car yet. I've heard mention of the lexus navigator not doing the auto-reconnect with versions>1.0
  13. this is common for petrol engines. How so? The piston rings are much tighter during the run in phase, until the path of least resistance has been worn in the chambers, on a very very small scale, and the rings have also been worn where that's obviously not going to happen. That's even more the case on a v engine, especially when the angle is greater, surely, depending on how it's mounted? G
  14. Stick it on a web server which will either host it inside a page, or allow people to access it directly. In either case compression, chunking and server languages need to be off. Content type must be correct, too, for many browsers. How big is it? You might want to re-encode it, since the standard video taken from cameras and phones somtimes amounts to a colossal size. Depending on size I might be happy to host it. G
  15. I actually preferred the original version of the LF-A. To me it seems like the second generation design is over designed, and swoops and curves are just put in there to compensate for the original criticism of it not being "hugo boss" enough. Having said that, I do also love the new one. Most of my problems with it are to do with those big curves on the front bumper. Are they still saying it's concept only, or are they finalising for production? I've heard that it's doing the rounds at the 'ring a bit more than concept car might. Definitely see what you mean about the undercarriage of the IS-F, too! G
  16. Thanks. Now only 4 weeks until I can verify which one I'll get! But presumably if mine is on it's way over now, it should definitely be 2007, n'est pas?
  17. I know this might be stated on another topic, but could you be a bit more specific? You mean the petrol tank flap release button for filling? And which switch is it next to and not above? And does it being next to instead of above said switch indicate it being an 07 build or an 06 build? Thanks G
  18. My car is on a boat, so I don't get to check
  19. Oooh - I don't mean to totally pervert your point, but: Where's that? I didn't see it on my gaze around the cockpit. Thanks
  20. 8 weeks old?! That's scary. I was hoping that getting a brand new one (on the boat now), I would avoid such things as they'd be sorted by now. G
  21. I know I'm a new member, but I'd say the split is a very good idea. With regards to the moving of posts, I would imagine moving posts about the new cars is easier, and that it could be automated and then cleared up. You could do it either by a balance of the generation of the car of the people posting. So if the greater average Lexus model of the posters matches (250|220d) then move it to the new forum. There would be some false positives, but not too many. The other option is to search the topics and content for 220d/250, but I don't think this would be as reliable. Ignoring Poster's signatures might normalise that a bit more, but I think they'll be plenty of 2nd generation threads that don't mention 250 or 220d at all! Just my thoughts G
  22. *mutters something about rings* Eh? Bad joke, don't worry.
