If it doesn't recognize the entire format then there's no chance whatsoever. I'm not saying this is for sure, but there's a possibility. The manual isn't absolute about it, so there might be some wiggle room. The two problems are: 1) It specifically says it won't play mp3s out of anything but CDs 2) It really won't play DVD-As So the only thing you could want to copy a dvd for is DVD-V. That could work, but I'm not putting any effort into it - I buy all my dvds.

System 2 = Lexus System 2, as opposed to system 1, which was on the RX300. The information on the errors is from the same spreadsheet you're looking at, from tmti. There's notes in the cells to say what extra information there is, and the numbers refer to a key at the bottom saying what the errors are.

Yes, it actually specifically says that it won't play them. MM manual page 217. I didn't notice this myself until I checked for you. It means that not only wouldn't it paly the mp3s I put on there, but even read the discs!

Yep, I'm very pleased with it. I was really worried I might have gone the wrong way with grey instead of beige. I feel much better now.

A quick general reply: Nokias have the most compatibility with the System 2. SE seem to come in second, since two of it's phones have critical errors, whilst two of the nokias have minor errors (and there's more of the nokias. All samsungs have the minor error of no voice dialing from handset when connected. The SE W810, W850 and w800 all have good compatibility. G

There is a DVD audio format - DVD-A. However in either case, CD or DVD, when there are mp3s on there it is not treated as an audio format at all, it's treated as data. The manual itself says so, since it says that it searches the folders on the discs for files called .mp3. It certainly would have been possible to allow mp3s on DVDs. I managed to get a fair my music onto 4 CDs though, with a bit of chopping stuff I probably would have wanted to have avoided anyway. I do have a question, though, for someone who has used mp3s + CDs: When you have it in random mode, does it switch between folders? I currently burned all my mp3s flat, for fear it might not randomise between folders. I regret this a bit, since I can't find what I want easily enough.

On my part I didn't go for the petrol because I was trying to take a step away from performance cars for a while. The engine is pretty gutless without the turbo, which lags a lot, without a doubt. I've also found poor fuel economy to start with, however I'm fairly sure that this will improve with time as the engine frees up.

I burnt two dvds before I found the part of the manual that said, in terms that should have been made much clearer, that MP3s will only be played from CDs. Does anyone know why this is? It's very very annoying. G

They will. If you ask your dealership they have an extremely comprehensive list of exact features for all phones, and car systems, plus about 20 different handsfree kits and both lexus models. I was testing the D900 (which I bought yesterday) in my new IS and it works fine, except that the battery and signal don't show as they should. I've got the excel sheet open now and it shows that the Lexus system 1 (RX300) does not have good compatibility. It says it constantly disconnects, plus other issues. The E900 reports better but will not transfer contacts.

I've driven the car once and already it had a lot of finger prints and the glare showed these up badly enough to make it difficult to see the picture. Is it worth going for the quite expensive AG? How will that cope with fingerprints? Thanks

So you're saying that basically there is no option to make the directions silence the stereo? That's really a shame, and a real pita. Where do you change the volume for the voiceover?

So I took it out for a drive at lunch. Generally very impressed. Don't like the "setup, nav and phone input unavailable whilst driving" feature... VERY annoying. Will probably splice the firmware together and see what I get. Struggled with the diesel, stalling it several times, though. I'm used to a big petrol which can pull away easily in fourth. One question: How do I set it so the sat nav voice-over will silence the stereo? I can't find it anywhere in the menus on first glance. Photos pending better sunshine. G

I can now report that the Motokrzr K1 definitely does not auto-reconnect. Not only that, but clicking connect won't work either. Reconnecting is about a 10 second process, and a pita. Probably replacing with a Samsung ultrathin, maybe the 830

Thank you. I chose the silver too because of wear. I prefer the cardoxton, but it shows scuffs and scratches much more easily, and also watermarks. I was very very keen on the beige leather, but ended up going for the grey because of the beige carpets getting dirty so quickly. I figure it's better to have it look better most of the time than better once a week when it's been cleaned, hopefully without dripmarks, and without foot prints in the beige. Hope you enjoy it - it looks fantastic.

What colour interior does your 250 have? My 220d is being delivered tomorrow.

Lexus do not update the ecu automatically on new cars. They offered to do it automatically on mine since I asked.
