  1. never seen one of these before! someones must of taken it off mine!

ya dont need to heat the screen much- just enough to warm the glue to soften it. maybe wait til summer n it'll be easier to get off without using a hairdrier. either way will prob leave some glue residue- i find nail varnish remover is good for clearing this stuff up. clean ya windows after tho!!

  2. i had a similar prob when i wanted to change my bulbs. now this sounds harsh and others my kno a better way of getting a corroded bulb out so... but i disconnected the bulb plug n took a pair of mole grips to my old bulb. it only has to turn about an 1/8 of a turn then its just a matter of wriggling it backwards and forwrds to get it loose to pop out with a flat screwdriver. wd40 will help also. then clean it up and hey presto, new bulb ready to be fitted..

if not believe i saw a foglight on eBay the other day.

as regards to aftermarket options the appertures are big enough to fit a lot of lights into. would just be a matter of cutting off the lexus loom plug and matchin +/- up to make them work from the stalk switch. :D

  3. If you do go for the audi TT mate make sure that it has the small spoiler and suspension mods at the back as this was a recall on ALL TT`s due to the small but fatal problem of lifting the back end of the car at high speed ..........most/all of them have had it done but just check...was a massive problem when they where first made.....lift of over steer i think?

would defo do this although the spoiler is ugly! i remember seeing a TT totalled at the side of cambered corner just after they were launched!!

i considered an audi before getting my IS200, mainly for the quattro option. the good thing is ya dont have to compromise if you were to find a a4 quattro (curse the blastpheme!!)

  4. strange one this for me, i seem to be loosing volume on radio and cd. i seem to be cranking it up higher and higher just lately. i could just be goin deaf i spose, but ever since i've had the car i never, until recently, had to put dial more than about a third of a turn.

is it possible ive blown some sort of fuse or resistor somewhere?

  5. As mentioned previously, if they're made for the IS300 then there are several alterations that need to be made; one of which (IIRC) from reading one of MM's posts, the IS300's wings differ from the 200's.

thanx was sure i had read that somewhere.

i agree about the angel eyes thing being so yesterday- but had some on my astra a couple of years back. when i wired them up a put in a swith to toggle between the angels and the LED side lights. so had an option of what lighting i had on at anytime. didnt use the angels much to be honest but it looked well mean with the projector lights!

  6. hey lexylass. had similar problem with the ignition barrel on my IS. really easy fix with a new barrel. went with the how to guide on here.

been searchin for a place that does lexus parts for ages so gonna be giving lexuspartsdirect a little looky in a min! ta!

Ok, so IF clever, nice hubby cant fix the existing barrel, do I need to go to Lexus for a new barrel? Will I need to do any reprogramming?

Have to go to Lexus in the morning to get correct rear pads as both sets as supplied by Lexus Swindon do not fit - one pair completely the wrong ones (despite the part number being correct - John @ Swindon Lexus called to say they had sent the wrong ones immediately sent what they considered to be correct, but these still do not fit). Is it worth taking the barrel with me to see if one of their techies can fix it, or will they just try sell me a new one? Are these over the counter with a new key or am I better to have a new barrel cut for my existing key - I have had no previous problems with the ignition?

Thanks in advance for all your help advice

without getting too complicated, a new ignition barrel from lexus is a mechanical fit- no need for any programming. you can order a barrel to match your current key(s) by quoting the chassis no or registration plate. agian i'm not totally sure if its the same fit as an IS but cant imagine they'll be much different.(although mine a 1999 IS200) i see your in norfolk- ian at lexus norwich is a good chap. and so is the service manager (cant remeber his name soz!). they said it was a fairly simple job on the IS so i saved myself some money and done it myself. i kno this ignition barrel prob is a common occurence on the IS, not sure if its the same prob with the RX tho. have you tried a search in the RX forum yet?

appear to be too late for your trip to lexus yesterday morning-sorry!

hope ya pads are sorted now!!

  7. is 200's do have spark plugs!!! and coils!! sorry mate not sure about the spark plug thing. little trick i learnt from off here is to disconnect battery for half hour or so. this will clear any error codes in ecu and put the engine light out if there are no faults. hope this helps.

    thx for the quick response.

if i reset the ecu i know i will lose any fault codes. however if the fault still persists will it store new codes (probably a stupid question).

yep sure will. any fault that was there before and not fixed will still show.
