QUOTE(T7RY B @ Feb 23 2007, 10:59 AM) ←IS offset is 45-50
40 offset on 7.5 may fit but might rub if lowered
i have 7.5x18 on a 42 offset and they are perfect
Bazza, the reason they fit perfect is because they fall into the 38 - 45 offset guide NOT 45-50
38 - 45 is correct guide
See table
So 7.5JX17 PCD 5X114.3 with an offset of 35 wont then? Sorry for the high jack.

checked the earthing cable that is connected to the battery? So the (-) terminal cable... is that properly fastened to the body of the car...?
just a thought
or any earthing cables connected behind the dash to the body, had these undone when I had role cage fitted to a Lancer, found out it was this after stripping the alarm out because it refused to start.

Got the same problems on my car but its done 76k.
I know the 1st to 2nd gear is a trait of the gearbox (was in Lexus when one of the service guys mentioned it to the head tech, you almost had to pull his teeth out for him to actually say its a characteristic of the gear box) but its really the vibration in 1st when I rev high that gets me, feels all wrong and means I short shift to 2nd which sometimes sorts out the clunk.
Had the car nearly a month now and don’t seem to notice the clunk anymore.
