  1. Scotty38 - congrats - I take it is a new '07 - so they haven't stopped the squeaky seat still!

The rattle on the outside could be a number of things - from simple exhaust clamp or dry bushes, to a shafted Cutch bearing (latter unlikely)...best bet is to take it in - they shouldn't have delivered it like that.

Oh, one thing...you must post some pictures, we likes piccys!

PS - my squeaky seat turned out to be the seatbelt anchors.

Thanks for that I'll pop it into the dealer to have a listen and maybe they can sort the seat too.

Yes it is an 07 and I'll sort some pictures :)

  2. Well my car arrived on the 2nd March, finally went for Cadoxton/Pembroke and very nice it is too!

But, drivers seat is squawking away merrily and also there's a strange loud rattle type noise that I notice if trying to pull off gently. It's not really noticeable if the window's up but if I I'm going up my drive and the window is open it's terrible. Any ideas?

    Thanks......

  3. NOT GOOD NEWS FOR ME

I've just taken the car on a motorway run.

The seat squeak is back. It's now worse then ever.

There is a faint dash rattle that gets worse over poor motorway surfaces but is fine in town. This rattle comes from deep in the dash.

Oh and that Speaker grill fits really badly. It still protudes from the back and there is what looks like a gouge in the dash on the left handside, and by looking through the screen (from outside) at the edge of the speaker.

I love the car, but the quality of this product is a sham. I'm sick of people:

    1) telling me it's an "early car" and you should expect teethers

    2) telling me Lexus are the most reliable cars. Maybe they don't break down, but they are not solidly made.

This will be the 4th visit for warranty work in 8 months and 6500 miles. That's more than the various German cars I've had before all put together in over 10 years.

Now tell me that a Lexus is better made than a German car...

As soon as I can afford to, I'm defecting back again. Period.

Oh - and before anyone tries to flame me, this is my last post. The car takes up too much of my life (and yes I do have one)

Blimey, it's posts like this that keep making me question my decision to order one of these things. Maybe I should have stuck with my beemer....

  4. Well, I had a 220d SE demo car arrive today and very nice it is too although not a colour combo I'd have chosen (Sargasso/Oakham).

I went out for a quick spin just to check out the "odd gearbox" I've read so much about and to be fair it seems ok to me. Whether that's just because I'm used to diesels or I'm just a pants driver I don't know but it seems fine and I can get it into higher gears sooner than I thought would be possible too given all that's been said. It's only done 178 miles so I guess it's also a bit tight but all in all first impressions are good.

The car has got the MM pack and the sound system is nice but whoever programmed the sat nav must have been p****d. I don't know if all sat nav systems are like this but I'd spend twice as much on fuel if I followed her directions :D :D I realise local knowledge is a wonderful thing but some of the directions it gave me to get me back home were miles off and I'm not just talking backroads I mean it picked what I would consider incorrect major roads.

Anyway I have another couple of days with it so I'm off out again.....

  5. Hi Guys,

1st post here and need a bit of help....

I'm just about to order a new car (company) and have settled on an IS 220d SE but I'm not sure on what colour combinations are available. I've searched this site and have found references to Beige, Grey and Black interiors but I'm not sure if they're still current. The Lexus site isn't much help on interiors either.

I also think I've settled on the Brechin Slate (I like the Black but not sure on the effort required to keep it looking nice) so which interior do you think would complement this colour?

I'm going to pop round to the local dealer tomorrow so hopefully I'll see something there but wondered what you all think on here.

    Thanks

    Martin
