NX 2022 Takumi with credit card key
spacenase replied to Al D-Much's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Hi, my 2021 NX300h Takumi has the CC Fob. Like @RXtoNX, mine is stored away and I've never used it. -
Smart Keyless Entry
spacenase replied to bgb's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
If it uses the same key as the previous NX, you can turn the key signal off. You press and hold the lock button, then press the unlock button twice. It means you have to use the unlock button next time you use the car, but it definitely works. -
Michelin Cross Climate
spacenase replied to hunslet's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Hi, it looks like Michelin have reduced the size range for the Cross Climates, but their own site came up with 225/60R18 104W XL for the NX. It's available as a Cross Climate 2. -

I agree with @rayaans on the ceramic coating. There's no way the dealer will put the effort into the preparation work before applying the coating. You are better going to a proper detailer and I doubt they'll charge you any more than the dealer. I also doubt it'll last 5 years, I think they typically last 2 - 3 years. -
@Phil xxkr - Here's a quote from the report's summary: The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has set a guideline limit for RFR requiring that mobile devices emit an SAR of less than of 1.6 W/kg as measured in a volume containing 1 g of tissue absorbing the signal. In contrast, animals in the NTP studies received whole-body exposure to higher levels of RFR to identify potential target organs and to characterize toxicity. The highest exposure of 6 W/kg in rats and 10 W/kg in mice, for a total of 9 h 10 min a day (achieved by cycling for 10 min on, 10 min off over 18 h 20 min), produced higher exposures than experienced by humans under normal cellular phone use conditions. Thus, whether the findings in the NTP animal studies (eg, malignant gliomas in the brain and malignant schwannomas in the hearts of male rats; increased levels of DNA damage in hippocampal cells of male rats and the frontal cortex of male mice) indicate a potential for adverse health outcomes in humans remains a question. So whilst the study definitely raises a concern, it's not a clear reflection of normal human exposure to RFR from mobile phones. I guess we await further studies on this before anything becomes unequivocal.

The FDA and National Cancer Institute in the US, the WHO and Cancer Research UK tend to disagree with you. All say that the rf radiation emissions are low and the only scientifically proven impact is a heating of the tissue surrounding the device, which in my experience is less than holding a cup of tea. Of course if it concerns you, then keep the phone away from your body, but I'll go with the scientific evidence for the time being.

I think that says more about the driver than the EV, animals get run over by combustion engine cars too. I'd say definitely worth it. The ability to have ACP kick off and start playing music without touching the phone is worth the cost. The only thing I've found is that the GPS in my phone isn't always reliable when my phone is in my pocket, but that might be the phone or my pocket.

That doesn't make sense, surely your insurance covers you for theft from the car as well as theft of the car? Doesn't matter if it's a personal item or a part of the car. It might not be worth going through the insurance because of your excess and increased premiums, but I can't see how they can say you're not covered for it. -

I saw that comment and I like the translation, but I'm struggling to find the beach in the back of my car. Here's a slightly better one from Google: "Finally I managed to find the direction of dismantling. First, remove the screw found in the bracket which supports the rear shelf then remove from above by pulling straight the black plastic cover just below the white part (and on which rests the rear shelf, then the top cover (white) which protects the enclosure and the air bag can be easily unclipped by pulling on it (no screws). No problem very easy everything is clipped (except the first and only screw) Everything works perfectly , this is awesome Thank you" -

Good find! I've just ordered one because the blank screen always bugs me. Any tips on removing the c-pillar trim? -
Cosmetic & Alloy Wheel Insurance
spacenase replied to Marlinleg's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I had similar products offered when I bought my NX and I said no to all of them. I'm not keen on them because there tends to be too many limitations on them, a bit like a used car warranty. The tyre guarantee usually covers punctures and damage. How often have you had them in the past? The cosmetic damage one probably limits you to their workshop which means you can't go to your preferred bodyshop (if you have one). For me, the only one really worth considering is the alloy wheel cover, because you are very likely to kerb damage them at some point. Have a good read of the terms, conditions and limitations before deciding though. It may be better to keep some money to one side instead. -
Android / Apple Carplay
spacenase replied to Ed659's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I've been using the CPLAY2air device with Apple CarPlay for a few weeks now, so here's a bit of a review. So far, it has successfully connected to my iPhone 12 every time. I've found it can take longer to connect sometimes, it can be a minute or more, but it's never failed to connect. The sound quality is plenty good enough for a car system to my ears. I can't tell the difference between playing the same tracks through the CPLAY2air or from a directly connected USB key. It seems to randomly decide whether to autoplay the current track the Music app or not when it connects. Sometimes it will pause it instead. I haven't found a pattern to this yet. There is probably a tiny lag between trying to do something on the Lexus screen and the phone responding, but it doesn't make it more difficult to use, which is good. I do get an occasional dropout in sound when using the Music app on the iPhone, but it doesn't happen often enough to irritate me. I haven't been able too find a pattern to it, except for when I put Google Maps into Satellite mode. It happened frequently then and then was okay when I turned it off again. It may therefore be linked to the amount of data that the CPLAY2air can transfer at any one time. I don't use that mode any more, which is a shame because it looks cool on the Lexus screen. I had to reset the network connections on my iPhone due to a separate issue, so I thought I'd have to go through the connection process again. Fortunately I didn't, it connected straight away again. I'm really pleased with it and for me it's worth the money to allow me to get in the car and have CarPlay just work. -
car play upgrade
spacenase replied to Roychip's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Unfortunately the CPlay2Air is Apple only, presumably it needs to be specific to interface with Apple CarPlay on the head unit. I'd be very surprised if there is not an equivalent for Android Auto though... -
2018 NX Review
spacenase replied to spacenase's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
You can turn the bleeping noise down on the tailgate, I think it's in the menus on the main screen. My NX (ex-demo) is Sonic Titanium and it suits the car. It's a sort of browny silver and you can see a slight colour change in different lights but I don't think it's worth the extra cost against the other metallic shades. Silver is not my favourite colour though, I just see it as shiny grey. My last GS was Mesa Red and that was an awesome colour, particularly when clean and in bright sunlight. It literally glows. Given the choice I'd have gone with Azure Blue as a change from the red, if it was available on my chosen trim level. -

Yes I saw that, but every device like this is going to be awkward from time to time. One review said it connects 95% of the time which I thought was pretty good really. Mine turned up today. No import costs and a return address in Reading. It's pretty much plug and play, you just connect it to a USB port and connect the phone to the bluetooth connection it presents and off it goes. Not much chance to test it yet, but it connected straight away after restarting the car and apart from a slight delay in response times, it seems to work well. I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks and I'll get a chance to properly try it out on a long journey around Christmas. -

Grrrr! I ordered mine a week ago at just over £100 and I'm still waiting for it to arrive from China. By the way, the UK£ price they show is not necessarily accurate. When you order it the price is in US$ (currently $99) and you pay whatever that converts to at the time. I'm assuming I'll get some import costs too. Looking forward to trying it out though... -

WiFi Connection/Firmware Update

Hi, I've found that using a wi-fi dongle with a SIM card provides a more reliable connection. You just need a USB socket to power it.
