  1. Hi Alex , CD player works perfectly, am listening to it now, Rgds, Roger 😜
  2. Hi Alex, I'll try it and report back. Rgds,Roger 😜
  3. I have fitted an xcarlink to my LS430, as a result of an article way back on here. It is brilliant and play my iPhone through it. Do not now use the CD player because all my cd's are on my iPhone. Have to say that the sound really is fantastic. It also enables me to Bluetooth my phone so it is now hands free . I am not technically confident, and it does mean removing the fascia to take the radio out. However there are numerous videos on you tube , and very straightforward. If I can do it, anyone can! I am taking the car to Spain in May so will really benefit , enjoying my music in luxury. Rgds, Roger
  4. Phil, I think they call it "fate" Rgds, Roger
  5. Hi Nick, congratulations, looks like you have a real good un. The amount you have paid is immaterial, and after a couple of years you will consider it was a bargain. Mine a 2002 has just gone past 81k, and to say I don't look forward to driving in it is an understatement. Enjoy, you lucky boy, Rgds , Roger
  6. Phil if you don't need to sell.....don't, no point in being sensible !!!
  7. You can register your mobile number with TPS, but as you quite rightly say scammers will find a way around it. My number is registered, done en block by my supplier.
  8. Have been with LV for about 15 years with 2 cars, but never claimed so I don't know if they should be called dreams !!! i guess they are all as good or bad as each other, but something happened today when I renewed that was different. Was happy to pay the renewal and just tweeked a few things when the young lady on the other end of the phone said that as a loyalty bonus she would reduce the amount I had agreed to pay, further. Now that is a change. Just now hope I never claim, as I am sure we all do.
  9. Just had renewal for my wife's Honda and very competitive . Could not really beat it on search engine, where cheaper but different terms. With LV so going to renew .
  10. Blimey, bringing tears to my eyes John !!!
  11. That is a brilliant analogy ....oh so true !! i honestly don't think there are many cars out there that have such an effect. cheers,Roger
  12. Hi wasn't suggesting risk about conversion, it was risk of amount spent versus doing enough mileage to warrant conversion. I have nothing against lpg conversions and agree with what you say, but as in my case I do not or will not cover enough miles to justify (risk spending) the cost, that's all.
  13. Hi Paul, I agree with you. Most of us don't do enough miles to make the risk of spending on a conversion worthwhile. I have looked at it over the years and still come back to the same view. Different of course if high mileage, or already had the conversion done, when your view is affected every time you fill up ......with glee !!!!
  14. That is a brilliant analogy ....oh so true !! i honestly don't think there are many cars out there that have such an effect. cheers,Roger
  15. I bought my LS 430 from somebody who had owned it for 7 years who then bought an LS460. This had be owned by a well known company and had been chauffeur driven, with 100,000 miles on the clock. He bought through a dealer with a new mot. He immediately had it re mot'd to find extensive front suspension wear, all put right by the dealer at a cost of £7k. He also said to me that he would buy back my LS 430 anytime I wanted to sell . I am in contact with him and he echoed your sentiments, but he is not having mine back , as I prepare for a long Spanish trip later this spring. I do think that the 460 is a fine car , but not suitable for everybody. Thank you for keeping us all so entertained and wish you well in your search for whatever , Roger
  16. I trust you have miles of pleasure, Rgds, Roger
  17. Looks really superb, enjoy and happy motoring, Rgds, Roger
  18. What I do not understand in this now very deep, and confusing blog, is that the vehicle is always owned by you. Providing you do not allow the insurance company to take control of said vehicle you can choose. If you do not wish to claim, then don't and repair yourself. Nobody can force you to take any particular course of action and if the insurance offer is too low, don't accept it and do what you want. I am going to enquire about gap insurance as the probable solution. i
  19. Interesting, we insure our cars through LV, because my wife is a retired member of Unison. This specific policy is ' cheaper ' because of the exact situation you describe, whereby the union covers legal expenses. However I must now check in the light of your comments, thank you ! However this ' special ' rate on renewal, was more expensive than when I put in the same info through a search engine. I tried to barter down LV but they refused to budge. Thanks for the info , Roger
  20. I am told by a classic car owner friend that after an accident it is very important you retain custody of the vehicle, which at all times remains your property. Once the insurance company authorise removal and storage, you have a fight on your hands and a weakened negotiating position, towage charges and storage, all probably considerably inflated by said insurance company. I know this sounds probably unrealistic in some circumstances, but if you can I am told makes good sense. cheers, Roger
  21. This is a really interesting blog. Thank you for sharing with us, but my god you don't hang around !! Good luck , Roger
