I do think there is something quite perverse, when you wish to laugh at somebody else’s misfortune. You know nothing about me, my car or my reasons for enjoying this great brand. Failures can and do happen with every vehicle at some time, for all sorts of reasons, but what I can tell you is “ that the world is not about to end” 🤗. Try and get some pleasure out of this forum and make it a happy place.

Where is your evidence for it being a very common issue ? I have spoken to a number of Lexus independent specialists who tell me it is not very common at all, plus speak to Paul Frost, who dismantles more than any body else. I do know Paul Frost has seen LS430’s with huge mileages with no problems. This is all scaremongering , for what reason ?

Mk3 Ls400 new battery

That is excellent -
I think more than anything it highlights the importance of a full service history, whereby for example anti freeze is changed as per service requirements. I took the precaution of changing my radiator with an original lexus part but found no evidence of any corrosion . My indie thought I was nuts, and although it does give me peace of mind, because there was a full service history, I probably need not have worried ........but I guess do we really know. What I do know though is that I am told there are signs that something is not right before disaster , so if things feel strange , immediately stop and do not drive. Really sorry about your situation , cheers, Roger

Recommend me best battery for LS430 2005 facelift Please

This is what I ordered 072 Enduroline Car Battery 75Ah -
I don’t think you paid well over the odds if it all matches what you say. There would have been a queue of people with myself at the front. I paid similar to you over 4 years ago, with 59000 miles, now 95000, and apart from usual servicing etc have spent very little. I expect many more trouble free miles. Good luck, Roger

Hi , I had the same problem in that there are different types, non necessarily corresponding to what you have. What I did was put my car details into tanya and also have in dimensions and terminal side. It then will advise a suitable replacement. You can also ring them up. I got what I needed , 4 year guarantee, for £79.95. Very happy, good luck, Roger -

Have a look at www.tanya.co.uk . I would be very careful to check that you have the the terminals the correct way round, plus get the battery measurement. You will then find an excellent deal at the above, including delivery. -
Phil it is an interesting debate, and ever since I purchased my 3rd Lexus,an LS430 ,my pride and joy, and then joined this club, I am bemused by the constant desire to drive the prices down. I have always taken the view, that because these are superb cars, and past maintenance without skimping is key, then the annual maintenance cost is likely to be less than depreciation of a newer upmarket model. It is therefore to me a no brainier , and has proven to be the case. These cars will become classics and the prices will go up. I set my depreciation figure at £3k p.a., so if you take Scott’s LS 400 at £9k, in 3 years it has paid for itself. That depreciation figure by the way is low in today’s market. Regarding insurance, I’m sure a Classic Policy would easily agree that valuation. Some particular cars, like yours sounds, and Scott’s £9k model for sale, are exceptions , and there are plenty of people around who want to invest. Interestingly my friend has a Rover 75, which he expects one day will be a classic, and the Rover 75 club has the same arguments. I have a superb LS430 which I have for my own enjoyment and pleasure, and like Malc I think that they are to be enjoyed, but probably just as many people would wish to be collectors if there were enough good examples around. Good luck to Scott, I say, for those of us who are owners he is certainly not harming us. That is my opinion, cheers, Roger

Flat Christmas battery
RgrWynne replied to MLW's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I think that is sound advice, but I would add, having recently replaced a Toyota/Lexus battery at under 3 years old, that allowing the battery to run down in the first place, will prematurely age the battery. LS430’s have a constant drain on the battery to run the various electronics, alarm etc., so you are much better charging the battery to full, and then putting a trickle charger on to replace the drain from the car. I have just invested in a CTek charger, which will boost the charge, then lower to trickle to maintain. I was quite shocked to find just how much is taken out on starting in cold weather, and unless you then do a decent mileage to recharge from the alternator, next time you start from a reduced battery state, and so it goes on. That ruins batteries. Good luck, Roger -
Flat Christmas battery

Never leave mine longer than 14 days, because the battery drain means it will be flat. Just replaced a Toyota/Lexus battery after under 3 years, because I think allowing it to run down shortens it’s life, so just ordered a CTek charger, or as has been mentioned use a solar charger. -
I think that you drive your car the way you enjoy it. I agree that fuel consumption in a V8 should not be first priority, but I choose to not drive fast, but more in a refined way. I get great enjoyment from the serenity and total refinement only a V8 and in particular an LS, can give, all the while knowing that my vehicle will take off like a rocket if required. I suppose a bit like an old fart 😂. Enjoy your car the way you want not how others think you should and if that means also driving fast....so be it !

Hi Malc I spoke to Paul Frost about rust in the sun roof as mine is starting to rust on the corners, but not leaking or causing problems. I do not use it anyway. His advice to me was to scrape away as much loose rust and paint with a rust converter paint, not replace. He said it should not cause problems . I have ordered some spray Jenolite rust converter which I hope will do the job

Thanks for that report Malc, very enlightening. Cos I am lazy, is there any chance you kept your route, and a log of the places that you stayed in as I am sure my LS fancies a trip over the water 😜. Rgds, Roger
