  1. Hi and welcome to the forum Russell and sorry to hear of your woes. Other than trying to source the required part second hand which you have obviously tried, I'm out of suggestions. Hopefully someone here with more knowledge will be along shortly to help out. Out of interest, how did you jump start the RX, did you following the handbook instructions? Keep us updated regarding progress, wishing you all the very best in getting this issue sorted out.
  2. Lovely looking GS Jav, nice to see someone keeping these great cars on the road.
  3. Loved my Sportscross (see pic) the downsides of owning one now are ever increasing Road Tax, MPG and finding a good one that hasn't been messed with. Great pictures, love all the old Jap stuff, thanks.
  4. I had my RX450h in Lexus Bristol recently for a major service and opted for a courtesy car which was £12 for the insurance, so it seems this price varies across dealerships. The courtesy car was an ES300h which looked smaller than my 2005 GS430, I was quite surprised to find it's longer than both the GS and RX as it didn't fit in my garage (it would if I removed the rear shelving)!
  5. Lexus Bristol's labour rate is £150.00 an hour.
  6. Wishing you many miles of smiles with your new GS Nick, hope it looks after you
  7. Congratulations on the sale of your IS300h, aside from some hassle at least it went to a decent buyer which makes the selling experience rather more pleasant. Anything part exhanged or bought through the trade is going to be lower/higher but thankfully you and your buyer cut the trade aspect out
  8. Sorry for late reply Bill, have been away. Good first step at least I can include/exclude if it's actually the cover/blind. Don't worry, it will drive me nuts so persistence is a given
  9. Interesting, obviously the rattles were common hence the discontinuation of the parcel shelf extension in 2012. Thanks for the input F.A. I will add your fixes/things to look at to my list. Who'd have thought a humble boot blind could garner so much input, still that's the beauty of this forum!
  10. Thanks Nigel, a few more things to add to my check list Agreed, it's not the best load bay cover, my Subaru Forester one is slightly better and more robust. With regard to your comment about "something is missing on mine as there's a gap between the seats and cover". Mine has an extension that clips onto the back seats from the main blind housing which moves and covers said gap between blind housing and rear seats when moved back and forth. Good to know they are good load luggers, suspension looks beefy so I'm not surprised.
  11. Much the same as the dealer told me upon asking so I guess the same thing could have happened with mine, at the price they are asking it would be a big, quick profit! Will keep an interested eye on the advert regardless😉
  12. Thanks Bill, as you said I accepted the offer and the deal has been done so time to move on. Your story highlights the swings and roundabouts of the car game, and like you, I didn't have the hassle of selling privately.
  13. Whilst you expect a dealer to make a profit it smarts knowing what price they I recieved me, it's makes you feel short changed. In fairness the dealer could have sold it on to friends or family who are just trying it on. The reason I went down the part exhange route was I hate dealing with private buyers, I've had some good ones in the past but too many idiots and at my age, and given I have car another to sell, I just couldn't face it. Also, whilst the GS was spot on, within the next two years a cam-belt change was due and in reality, possibly a new water pump given it's age and whilst the tyres had 6mm of tread they were eight years old. I needed to buy a more upright car due to health issues so it was time change and made sense to put my money into a newer Lexus. I part exchanged it with a dealer, so yes the ad is misleading and a little untrue in places to be fair. I think what annoys me most is I had lovingly looked after it, kept a comprehensive folder of service history, bills etc. and they are passing all my love, care and money off as their own. Still, that's life I guess🙄
  14. Best of luck with your search Peter. I have just gone through much the same search, and it was a long, frustrating three months, prices are all over the place, but £15k should afford you a nice one. Only had mine two weeks but very pleased with it so far, very different from the 06 GS430 it replaced but strangly feel right at home in it already! Keep us posted
  15. I'm pretty certain it's coming from the blind but will check for anything loose in the boot Hopefully that's the case with mine Bill but will go through all suggestions regardless.
  16. Thanks Bill, things on my list to look at I recall a number of years ago on another car the blind wasn't a snug fit and went down the self adehesive pad route, have ordered some just in case. 😁 I will check it!
  17. It would be an interesting conversation given the last eight years of servicing was carried out by Lexus Bristol and the seller is in Derby.
  18. That's what I thought, it was only px'd a fortnight ago so as you say "a little naughty", I'm sure it was more than two owners as well! Correct, it just missed the higher bracket.
  19. My 2012 RX450h rear hatch blind/cover has a slightly annoying rattle, I've yet to delve into it but wondered if anyone has experienced the same annoyance and if so. what solution(s) did you find successful (other than removing it😁)?
  20. Very sad news, he will be sadly missed on the forum. My sincere condolences to all the family.
  21. My much loved GS430 which I owned for the past eight years and part exchanged two weeks ago has popped up on Autotrader for one hell of a lot more than I got for it😭......... that's car dealers for you I guess! https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202304066022329?sort=price-asc&include-delivery-option=on&advertising-location=at_cars&model=GS 430&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&postcode=bs351ug&radius=1500&make=Lexus&page=1
  22. Fingers crossed this is the case for me Doug as I use Lexus Bristol and since the Marshall Group took over certain aspects of their service has suffered, nothing major just niggles but they slightly spoil the overall Lexus eperience I previously enjoyed.
  23. That sounds promising, thanks Just heard back from Lexus Parts Direct and they have confirmed only the plastic/rubber mat is available for my car, so it's aftermarket or DIY.
