    Hi all,

I got my car serviced last oct/nov, full service and cambelt change. Just recently this noise bit like a ratlle/tap has started happening, sometimes its worse than others. But its always worse on startup and gets a bit quieter after running for a mile or so.

There are no warning lights on, car is 12 years old is200. 70000 miles.

i think you can identify it quite well at 32 seconds and past 2 mins, the noise is most identifable from inside the cabin which i failed to get but can get if it helps.

Cheers in advance for any help.

  3. Hi Peeps,

I have been a named driver for 3 years with churchill and have come to take my own insurance out. heres the thing most places are quoting me £1800 + yet bell have done some sort of special deal where they said they will give me 3 years no claim discount cuz i have been with churchill. its only £741.00 comprehensive.

Do you think i need to get them to send me some sort of email confirming this churchill discount as i am worried if i have a crash they will ask for proof of 3 years no claims discount. does that make sense as this seems rather grey and i like black and white?

  4. Hi please somebody help!!

I have a Is 200 auto and my air con keeps turning itself on and off and when i press the buttons to overide it nothing happens and its driving me insane! The heating also dosent function when this is happening and im worried its going to cost a fortune.its now winter and i dont want my air con blowing when its freezing cold! Any ideas or help would be great!

are you switching the direction of the vents to the windscreen that may be affecting it. also just cuz your air con light is on doesn't mean it will be cold if you have it set to a hot temperature.

  5. Hi Peeps,

I dunno if you noticed but winter certainly seems to be here. 2 very cold frosts in my area this week already.

Just thought i would start at topic for people to post their advice on how to prep your car for winter.

Ill start the ball rolling..always keep some sort of warm clothing in your boot incase your car breaks down in the snow or something and your stuck.

  6. Hi,

My first car key broke practically in half whilst turning the ignition on a while back. now i have just noticed a crack that has appeared in the 2nd(spare) key. this is pretty frsutrating. I dont know if i am being too heavy handed or if this a common problem.

My question is, is there anyway to get this fixed without paying lexus dealer prices. over £70.00 they want. its only the black case thats cracked and they want how much.

    any advice welcome.

    thanks.

  7. The oem headunit can be repaired. Google Autosounds in Bradford (West Yorkshire)- they can repair the oem unit for about £250, I think (I've heard that figure been quoted).

TBH- why not rip out the factory system and put in a aftermarket/more modern headunit with bluetooth etc? That's what most people do.

£250 to fix error 3!!! send it to me and i'll fix foc mate!!!!

would you be able to fix mine mate? i tried doing it myself but i think i made it worse. I would not expect you to do it for free though

  8. Now that these new cars seem to be using start stop technology a thought crossed my mind whilst i was parked at the traffic lights today. I hit red as i approached the lights and it must have been on red for around 45 seconds. Now would it have been worth me turning the engine off at this point or would it use more petrol to start it back up. I guess this could not be used at all traffic lights but just the ones that you know your gonna be parked a while at.

  9. TBH I think this car from a visual exterior point of view is a massive step back for lexus and IMO looks like a toyota with a lexus badge on it. That may sound daft being that lexus and toyota do have a close working relationship. But as an IS owner I have never seen my car in that light.

  10. My Is200 has twin washer jets in each side. On the driver's side one of the pair was spraying weakly and horizontally, not 45degrees. I plucked a single bristle from a household floor brush and pushed it into the blocked jet. This did not improve things so I pushed the bristle up the good jet and it went in much further. Went back to the blocked jet and managed to push it in further. This cleared the jet so now all is well. I wouldn't advise a pin because you might damage the jet or pierce the tubing.

Oh, I do love free fixes.

had the same problem yesterday howvever i used a pen. Your option sounds easier though

  11. Hi PPL,

The other day i got the dreaded error code on my CD changer. I tried to fix this myself using a guide I found on another forum. Bad idea. Its now worse than before i tried. The CD player doesn't seem to recognise it has a cd changer. The dash is scratched to sh*t oh and to top that off some donkey drove into the side of my car over night and left a nice dent and huge scratch for me to fork out for.

Rant over, can anyone help with 'cheap' ideas for replacements or getting the CD player fixed. preferably fixed although any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dave,

  12. Hi Peeps,

I need some help re brakes. Is £120.00 for standard rear and front pads + rear discs a good price?

also I have no idea when they need doing or how often they need doing so some help there would be helpful.

forgot to say this includes fitting

  13. i had mine plugged into the main charging connection of the ipod and the quality was fantastic, just like cd, plus if you do that you can control the ipod using the original stereo buttons

I have a grom adaptor but i cant control it through the stereo. Mine doesnt plug into the charging bit. Is this why? and if so is there a cheap solution to resolve this?
