Hi all,
We picked up a brand new F Sport Design today for my wife and we’re very surprised to find out there is no keyless entry ! This is our fourth Lexus over 10 years and got used to just grabbing the door handle to open the door. She’s not happy having to dig out the remote control from her handbag to open the car. I suppose we should have checked but we just assumed it would have it, after all we can open it with our phone. 😢

Turned wheels (are you turning at the junction?) and downhill slopes increase ABS sensitivity.
yeah, im turning right from a 40 mph main road into a side street

On a downhill? One particular pothole near my work, not too bad either, ABS will kick in. It's actually a feature of newer ABS systems to prevent the wheel slamming into the other edge of the pothole while locked, but rather by continuing to rotate. It does feel a bit more sensitive, but it is performing as designed.
There are two that I cant avoid and trigger the ABS, one is on a flat T junction and the other is entering a roundabout on a slight downhill slope.

Hi all
I picked up a brand new ES F sport a few month ago and noticed something funny with it and was wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing.
If I hit a pothole (pretty hard not too now a days!) whilst braking the ABS kicks in ! The potholes are not huge and I’m not braking hard and it’s happening quite a lot. It didn’t happen with my old mk3 GS or my wife’s CT so wanted to check before heading to the dealer.
Thanks

Glad to hear it’s fitted and you like it, my ones only just over a month old and I’ve got enough footage of cars pulling out on me to start a YouTube channel lol 😂

PeteTP - FYI , the Nextbase Cam from Lexus also has the park mode and my one was wired to a permanent live as standard. However I had to activate the park mode using the app on my phone as it was turned off, you can also set the sensitivity of the bump detector as well.

As promised here are the photos. The installation is really neat with no visible cables. The cams are actually a Nextbase 380GWX set as you can see from the box so you might get it cheaper outside of lexus. The rear cam is in the passenger corner and you cant see it from outside due to the tinted rear window. The front one is to the left of the mirror and you dont really notice it. It has build it WiFi that connects to an app on your phone to see the live video and all the recording.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Sure £390 supplied and fitted for both front and rear. This is Lexus Edinburgh https://www.easternwestern.co.uk/lexus/accessories/dash-cam.php
Ive seen other dealers offering them for £350 for the pair or £250 for just the front.
Thanks

PS I note that this model isn’t compatible with my Lexus.
I hope it is 😉 I’m picking up a brand new ES F Sport tomorrow and asked them to fit the lexus front and rear cams. I can upload pictures tomorrow if you want.

Cheers for the responses - I'm looking at a 2008 model, which should be new enough to be ok for E10 (although high tax bracket!).
Is changing the TPMS difficult/expensive if it becomes an issue?
I had the TMPS replaced with a clone (they copy the serial number of the old sensor into the new one so you dont need techstream to reprogram the car) by a local tyre fitting company and they charged £60 supplied and fitted.
Really simple job to do apart from my old one was stuck solid so they cut it out.

The same happen to my GS300 several years ago and I just had a stainless Y pipe welded on, cost me around £140 and lasted a few years before the rest of the exhaust gave up. Replaced with back boxes from Germany and center pipe/cats from Poland.

This particular V6 petrol engine is not suitable for E10.
Im lucky that my one is slightly newer so is OK with E10 (I confirmed with Lexus)

Ive had my 2008 GS300 for eight years so I can tell you a few things to check.
Firstly as already mentioned by everyone else its not a CVT.
Check to see if the exhaust is still the original as at the age of car you are looking for its going to need replaced soon and they are hard to find! Options are going to Lexus and paying thousands ! finding a cheaper one from Germany / Poland or going for a full custom stainless . All options are not exactly cheap.
Check the struts and they tend to leak when they are a little older.
Ive also had to replace the air con compressor and the water pump (luckily all under warranty)
My ones done 120K Miles and ive just had to change 1 TPMS as it was leaking.
Apart from that its been 8 years of pretty much nothing going wrong. The engine has always used more oil than I would expect but Lexus told me this was normal for this engine.
Hope this helps.

Apologies for the late update, I had to transfer techstream onto another laptop and that wasnt as easy as it should have been lol.
So after blowing the tyres up the light went out and has stayed out, however there is a considerable difference in the pressures detected by the sensors and what my compressor says (no surprise).
However , it doesnt matter any more 😲 as I pick up a brand new ES F Sport next week 😊 . Ive owned the GS for 8 years so it was time for a change.
Thanks for all the help.

Lol yeah just noticed I typed 40 tires 🤣

I just blew all 40 tires up to 40psi on my uncalibrated and probably inaccurate compressor !! and the light has gone out
I then plugged my laptop in to see what the sensors are saying but the screen on the laptop died just when I was about to open techstream ! Its not my week. Once Ive fixed the laptop I will take a look again
Thanks

I drove for over an hour today and the warning light remained on 🥴
Ive attached a screenshot from techstream. The red box shows that all four IDs are programmed (the new one is ID3), the purple box shows that it successfully reads the pressure from all 4 sensors and the green box shows the initial thresholds all of which are below the measured value.
Two things that I noticed, the red arrow shows a "Threshold of low pressure" at 41.2 psi ! What is this for? I though it used the 4 individual values to trigger the warning light, also the Battery voltage for sensor 4 (old sensor) shows "Less" but its still reading OK.
Thanks

Thanks 200h 🙂
I dont have access to carista but I do have techstream and according to the carista website it only supports basic diagnostics on a phase 3 GS 300.
Since the cloned valve has the same ID as the old valve what are you suggesting I program ? Should I try rewriting the existing codes?
According to techstream it can see and read all 4 sensors without any issues the issue is that the car doesnt overwrite the initial TPMS pressure and despite all 4 sensors showing pressures above the initial values it still thinks the pressure is low.
@Sami Tilander Yes I did drive it for a bit. Im just about to drive to a job so I will reset it again before I go. I can see the ID of all 4 sensors and all sensors read the pressure no problem and there are no error codes. All pressures are above the initial value.
I will take a screenshot from techstream when I get home.
Thanks both

Hi all,
I have a 2008 GS300 that recently has a small leak on the outside of the valve on the drivers front wheel. I bought a genuine TPMS fitting kit and asked a local garage to fit it. They couldn't get the old valve out if the car so had to cut it out (they showed me and it was jammed solid!). They copied the TPMS code and cloned it into an aftermarket TPMS but I was in a hurry and said I would re-initialize the sensors later.
The following day I pressed the TPMS button under the dash until I got the initialization message on the dashboard but the TPMS warning light stayed on and I still have the low pressure warning. I repeated several times and still the same.
Today I connected the car to techstream and it can read all 4 sensors and all are at the correct pressures I let some air out of the tyre with the new sensor and the computer displayed the new pressure correctly but the TPMS warning light is still on !!
Any ideas what Im doing wrong ? I tried initializing the TPMS with techstream connected and it doesn't write the new pressure values to the memory !
Thanks

They are spring clips, squeeze them to remove then and they tighten when you release so you can reuse them as much as you want.
i took the plastic bits off and didn’t bother putting them back on .

Well my plans got delayed by the traditional Christmas man flu lol.
Yesterday I emptied the fluid out of the heater matrix (blowing it out by mouth) into a clear 2 litre bottle and as always it was clean, I then filled it with a full bottle of forte and left overnight.
Today I did the same, blew the forte out by mouth into a clean bottle and it was clear 😞 I then reverse flushed it with clean water for 15 mins.
So as a last resource before replacing the matrix I put some clean water in it and pulsed some compressed air (40-50 psi) backwards through it (yes I know I probably shouldn't) again into a clear bottle and guess what ! I found some small pieces of debris in the bottle ! I did this multiple times until I didn't get anymore then hooked everything back up and tested it.
The cold side is now hot 🙂 and the hot side is REALLY hot so it looks like a matrix blockage was the cause but I suspect the debris isn't corrosion, my water pump failed several years ago and was replaced under warranty and i bet its debris from that 😞
Its not 100% yet so Im going to drive it a couple of days then do the same thing with the compressed air and finally a full flush and replace with new antifreeze.
So, now £1100 bill and no dashboard removal so Im a happy chap.
Thanks all and have a great New Year.

Possibly another device transmitting on the same frequency ?
I think the technology has changed quite a bit over the years, but in previous years a lot of cars were affected by transmissions
from radio links and amateur radio. I know that if I were transmitting on the 70cms band while driving, I would often set of car alarms.
With everything being digital nowadays, I doubt this happens any more.
Most cars nowadays all transmit on the same frequency and send a digital rolling code to prevent someone sniffing the remote control and copying the code (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_code).
It could be a faulty boot release button intermittently going short circuit or a wiring issue.
Have you tried disabling the boot opener by pressing the button in your glove box?

Hi folks,
Quick update on my problem. Ive had to put the car back together as I need to use it and I was waiting on some things being delivered. The first was another heater matrix from a scrapped 450H and the other was a bottle of Forte Bio Degreaser and Cooling System Flush.
My plan is to blow the cooling fluid out of the existing matrix and pour in the Forte neat and leave it sitting for a few days. I measured the water volume of the matrix from the scrap car it it held 400ml including the two pipes and by pure luck the Forte is a 400ml bottle 🙂
I also had a look at the other matrix and found that the two pipes that go into the radiator look like they are separate and are just held in by the surrounding metal being bent over (see the picture) and im assuming there will be a rubber seal between the pipe and the radiator. So im wondering if it is possible to bend the metal back, and remove the pipe. Maybe (big maybe) this would allow a small bottle bush to be inserted into the matrix to clear any crap or would this then allow the radiator matrix to be removed without taking the dash out ?????
More investigation required for sure. What do you think ?
Thanks

F Sport Design - No keyless entry !!

I thought all Lexus cars came with it but sadly I’m wrong. Yes it means it can be stolen with a relat attack but it looks like the can attack is becoming more popular !! And yes I could use the phone but that’s slow.
I just find it strange I can remote control the ac, hazards and lock/unlock the doors with a phone but not keyless. She who must be obeyed will just have to get used to it lol.
