  1. Will do. Found the box too! I'll bring it back in the morning. hopefully they give me a replacement there and then! I doubt it though. I only bought it in September, i hope there feeling festive!
  2. Look for the melted stuff i smelt burning!!! Yeah but as you say it will void any warranty you have. If you do find the bits that fried you probably couldn't replace them anyway, probably some little electronic part. i think ill leave it so! at least i found the receipt!! now to find the box!
  3. Well today as i was re-running my cables for the 100th time i found you dont actually have to remove the seats, there is enough give in the seat foam to expose the hole in the boot wall where you can run the cables through, means you dont have to spend a day gutting the back of your car, just a few minutes of finger scraping contorsionism! so just a case of taking off the plastic trim down the passenger side of the car, be careful you dont snap any bits off and then take out the carpet trim on the passenger side of the boot, then you will see the cables you pulled through.
  4. Yeah, i know, u learn from your mistakes!! but it was working fine until i started tidying up my boot install! Should have just left the mess in the boot! Cant find my receipt for it! and the guys i bought it from are ****ers!! Should i open it up and have a look inside? maybe there is some internal fuse thats gone, im thinking that would void the warranty though
  5. tried that but because her car's speakers are so bad. i couldnt hear any interference. ive re-done and connected all the HU cables the best i can and no change. One thing that makes me think the HU is gone.... one day in the not so distant past, when i was chopping up wires and testing which ones were contstant 12v, acc etc off the factory HU, i connected what i thought was the earth,( was refererencing to IS300 diagrams which are no where near the same), some smoke and melting smell came out of my shiney new HU, turned it off quickly fearing the worst, finally got it working again and it was fine. So maybe that little incident finally caught up with me
  6. Probably the easiest way you could add some extra sound is to add a sub and amp, but use the wires off the sub part of the rear speakers. So what you need to do is look in your boot at the bottom of your rear speakers, you should see 2 cables into each speaker( red and black i think) you cut these off the speakers, hook up a line level convertor to these cables and then hook these RCA's up to your amp, and then add a big dirty sub for that much needed bass, you can then adjust the high, mid and low settings on your factory headunit so you can turn up the volume more without the speakers distorting as much, you can get cheaper versions of the convertor, the link i gave is just the first one i could find, think this might be easier than adding to RCA's to the factory amp if your not too electrical savvy!
  7. So now i think i've narrowed down the problem to the headunit. Its fooked! With just the RCA cable plugged into the amp and HU, i switch the ignition to ACC and i get interference! Tried with my sisters HU, same setup and magic... no interference!! So im thinking when re-connecting rverything i damaged the HU some how, i was thinking of opening it up to see if there is any evidence of damage on the inside, but its still under warranty so i might just send it back to Pioneer. Any suggestions or anyone ever return a faulty HU ro manufacturer. will it be covered under warranty even though i probably damaged it myself! :tsktsk:
  8. have a read here for more info on what you need to do if you plan on upgrading to an aftermarket head unit too. subs with built in amps never sound as good as seperates,it would be worth upgrading your factory speakers too for better clarity. Because you have the SE sport version, its a lot more complicated to upgrade things, browse the audio section, topic has been covered plenty of times
  9. Prolex do some drill and grooved disks, these willfir your standard rs caliper, any bigger than standard discs and you will need a big brake kit conversion, about 2 grand
  10. IF I was to put in aftermarket rear 6x9s more powerfull ones would i require an Amp to run them or woul dthe Kenny Dec handle them? If i was to install the 6x9 would i require a MDF shelf cutting up, bracket etc.. (remember reading this somewhere) Which 6x9's would give the best value for money please? :D Cheers for the advise keep it coming please :D The Kenny Dec would run them but you would be only getting 50 watts max per channel out of them so no matter how good a set of speakers you get they will be restricted to this. i have a set of pioneer A6911(i think) running off a 900watt amp so they are getting about 200watts each With my rear speakers i had to cut out and mdf mounting plate so so i could secure them to the rear shelf. The maximum depth you can get away with without hitting the boot bars is 3 inches i think. I used 12mm mdf and made a mounting bracket, easy enough, once you have a jigsaw, have some pics around i can stick up i think.
  11. sure the factory speakers are only 25watt max so no matter what amp u hook up to ther rear subs u wont get any extra out of them. not going to ait for the group buy, not sure when that will happen. no music in thr car at the moment
  12. could a bad Hu ground cause the interference? Man i cant wait to get this wire, knowing my luck it wont work
  13. so where are the best ground points? Firstly for the headunit, secondly for amps in the boot?
  14. At present no it won't work. Paul is trying to sort this out with Pete. Guess the only thing to do would be to wait and see. He was saying it shouldn't be too difficult to do though. Just ordered one of these hope it fits, and solves all my problems!!!
