  1. i wouldnt risk buying a HU from the states because any problems with it. it doesnt fit, etc, always a lot harder to return. i think the states run on different frequencies to europe so radio may not work over here.
  2. Cheers Lee, will just have to wait now for another 2 weeks or so till i get the 4 channel amp back that cause all the trouble, its sent back to Pioneer and they have admitted it was a manufacturers fault so everything getting fixed for free under warranty. great!! but can be a very slow process!!! :duh:
  3. Just sounds unfortunate for you, Lexus the best cars i have owned so i think you just got a bad one or the previous owner destroyed it on you
  4. Brings a tear to my eye ... to see such destruction!!
  5. Finally got my fixed Pioneer headunit back into the car and fitted today, its been 4 weeks without music in the car. Its not fully back yet, one of the amps is still in getting repaired, so i cant hook the sub back up yet. So just a word of advice to save others the trouble i had. What happened to mine the earth point on one of the amps was faulty so instead of using the normal earth point for the amp it used the RCA cables to the headunit instead. This resulted in the earth prints on the RCA pre-outs on the head unit to damaged resulting in noise interference being routed through the pre-outs. So always check your power and earth points are secure and functioning properly or else the same could happen to you. Happy Christmas to all :D :D :D
  6. Leave it on in the wet or you will find yourself in a ditch!!
  7. Just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Great new year. So has anyone got anthing nice for their car for Xmas? Think the girlfriend has something nice for my Tez! I treated mine to some new mats, some tom's style eyelids and i finally got my headunit back from Pioneer so i can put the sounds back in the car. HO HO HO :D :P :)
  8. i stand corrected. My factory tweeters dont work( probably cause the aint hooked up to anything!!) At least i got my headunit back today so bring on the bass!!
  9. If you look at the wire that connects to your HU there is only 8 wires, 2 per each at the front and 2 per each at the rear. So i presume it only powers 4. maybe the top of of the rears and the tweeters dont work. Just my thoughts!
  10. For us lads maybe that know what were doing!! Anyone else , your looking at an hour at least!
  11. remember if you hook everything up and your rear speakers sound weird, this is because they were only designed to work with the factory headunit. You may need to stick new speakers in the rear which is a big enough job. You need to take out all the back seats and rear parcel shelf to get to them
  12. max you get from most after market HU's id approx 50 watss per channel, you could always buy a seperate 4 channel amp to power all the upgraded speakers, for best sound and a good solid bass
  13. Yep if you open ur glove box, and squeeze in both sides so it drops down to the floor, if you look to your left you should see a small amp. It should be black with a silver heatsink cap on it, If you have this, the easiest way then to add your new head unit is to by the wiring harness off ebay
  14. What model is your car? Do you know if you have an external amp behind your glove box? Any audio place should fit it for you, once you have the non amplified model. If you have the one with external amp im not sure if they will do it, because there is no wiring harness you can buy for it easily. Only one is on ebay and its 100 Euro.
  15. im sure it does, but the plug which you get with a new headunit, also has, switched live, perm live and earth, aswell as the wires for the speakers thats the point im making......it bypasses the amp anyway...why buy another plug with leads on I get ya, i did this orginally but trying to find the 3 wires in question can be a bit tricky if you dont know what your doing. i had to cut the 3 wires from the factory wires to get the power needed, which means it will be very hard to convert back to the orginal setup. I just think this ISO cable makes it easier for people that aren't too sure what to do
  16. That amp bypas lead comes with everything you need Mat switched, perm and earth aswell, so its basically just plug in your new HU into the new lead and thats it.
  17. no as far as i know th iSO lead will only power 4 speakers, 2 front and 2 rear, Seriously, do what Mat said replace all the orginal speakers. No point in changing just the headunit as your factory speakers wont work properly with the new HU. There is lots of HOWTO's in the work shop section that cover everything step by step
  18. Ive been looking for one since i joined back in August and from what ive gathered, the IS200 sat nav wont work in an Altezza. One member on here bought one on ebay and didnt fit. I have the whole sat nav screen setup too, ive taken the unit out so i just have a black screen to stare at! Just hook up a dvd player to the sat nav screen or else make one of these! and have a custom sat nav and multimedia center in your car!!
  19. Well its a good bit of work to change the speakers, you really have to know what your doing. Other option is to get someone to do it for you but you will pay a good bit for it
