  1. Hi.

My car also is quite responsive and sounds very nice, but since i live in Estonia and well our weather here is absolutely awful, the traction control doesn't work that well in wintery contidions. It lets the tail slide out quite a bit actually, even though the yellow traction control light is flashing. In the summer time and slippy conditions it works like a charm :winky:

What's recently got me worried is a quiet clunk in the steering when ju try to streer widely at low speeds while breaking. Is this common on all IS-s or is mine broken? :tsktsk: It's like driving trough a pot hole but a lot quieter....

Ah from Estonia? My girlfriend is Estonian. "Kuidas Lehab?"(forgive if i mispelled im only learnin Esti) I've the same knock coming from my Altezza when i brake parking on a hill etc, only ever at low speeds, coming to a complet stop . As mentioned something to do with the brake pad holder thing! ill be over in Estonia in July, maybe i give ya a shout!

Wasnt very confident in my Altezza when i first got it, very jumpy rear end always afraid of taking a corner too fast. Since i got the coilovers fitted the car handles so much better. pushed it a bit last night and it just stukc to the road.

Dont like the the lack of low end torque, Glanza Turbo out did me from stand stil at the lights last night( i did catch up easily after a few seconds :shifty: ) Fuel consumption is bad and no leather seats. Apart from that I LOVE IT!

  2. The car is a 2000 model Altezza.

the pads are a couple months old. I don't think the previous owner did anything to the discs.

They only do it when I'm sitting on the brakes, say going down an extremely steep hill and slowly rolling down.

The first it happened in a long time was on Saturday, coming from a Church which was on top of a huge hill....

same on mine think its a common fault on altezza's. i think its just the pads moving in the caliper.

  3. i like them might get a set my self as current ones have died lol

were did u order from ?

Got them from a local plcae in Dublin called Tuning Factory, 655 GBP they work out at, not sure where u can get them in the UK. Delivery from Ireland would be pricey as they are heavy bastids!

  4. The muppet has now added this to the description today
IT IS A LEXUS IS 200 / TOYOTA ALTEZZA RS 200 VVTI WITH A BEAMS 2000 ENGINE, 24 VALVE, 2 LITRE, STRAIGHT 6 CYLINDER. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS CAR IT WAS ADVERTISED AS A 220 BHP CAR (I DO HAVE THE PAPER WORK TO PROVE THIS). I DID TAKE A COUPLE OF ALTEZZAS OUT PREVIOUS TO ME BUYING THIS ONE AND THEY WAS NOT AS FAST AS THIS ONE I HAVE FOR SALE HERE

Someone should meet up with him and give him a lesson in power!! if someone buys that they have to be a fool!

  5. Just looking at a MkII Aristo the other day. Most of the buttons on the console are pretty obvious, but couldn't work out for the life of me what this button does:

    Any clues, anyone?

    Thanks,

    ben

    reversing parking sensors?

  6. It is a AS Altezza same engine as is200, it dont have 220bhp as he saying it has :o

The ALTEZZA with 210bhp is the rsALTEZZA 4cylinder engine NOT 6cylinder engine :D

Its is altezza but has the same engine as the IS200 so its only 153bhp. not sure what model it is as its a manual and as far as i know all AS200's are automatic. Theres plently for sale in Ireland not sure if they would fall into your price range though

Here's alink for you to look at.

Cant understand why people try and over quote the power of the car. Do they think were stupid!!

  7. I have searched all over and I am really struggling to find a replacement air filter...

Whats the best one? And can I source it in the UK?

    Cheers

Apexi and Blitz both do drop in panel filters, heres a link to the blitz one

Or Envy Performance do a Blitz one

  8. They look, the dogs b0llocks!

    What a transformation :D

You must be well chuffed!? You will definately have to try and find out how much it has been lowered by....

    Jamie

Cheers Jamie, only driven a few miles on them so yet to fully test them out. Now all i need is to get the geometry done! but no one over here does it as far as i know. A trip to the WIM soon i think is on order so!!

  9. Blimey.... robmitch is a new member (6 posts) and entitled to post in the wrong place until he can navigate the club.... Surly some guidance rather than a pistol whipping would be more polite!

robmitch can you check the rear inner tyre wear and see it the tread has a 'wave/ scallop' pattern of wear?

Sorry Rob didnt realise you were a noob!! Sorry for the previous Pistol whipping!! :tomato:

  10. very smart like the colour they costly ?

    960 euro + 180 fitting

    So before pic:

    Rear lowered:

    Front lowered:

    dsc00301ep7.jpg

Opinions?? Not sure how much its lowered but just enough, no rubbing at all. the dampening is set quite firm at the mo ill get that changed at the weekend to a bit softer. rides the bumps well and no scraping on the ramps. Only thing im worried about is the way they secured the brake line onto the coilover, its just held on with a cable tie

  11. thanks for your comments!

yeh i reckon they look alright they look better in real life!

lol no curb marks yet mate and not looking forward to doing it either. its on standard lexus springs

yeh i need to lower it any suggestions and prices would help

    thanks

Getting some D2 coilovers fitted to mine today. 650GBP + 130 fitting. Will stick up some pics when im done

  12. Hi There,

Quick question, I have noticed on my IS 200 (17 inch rims 215/45/17 tyres) that there seems to be a lot of road noise. At first I thought that one of the wheel bearings had gone but all are good (only 27K miles) The tyres on the front are Firestones, whilst the ones at the rear are Federal. I am thinking that it may be the cheap tyres on the rear that could be the culprits. All TP's are ok, noise disappears at about 85-90 mph. Any thoughts?

    Rob

Yep id say its down to the cheap ***** tyres on the front and rear! And you totally posted in the wrong section! This section is for Altezza's not IS200's

  13. I think they do look ace. Good choice of rims - guess I'll have to choose another set now lol.

I see you've curbed them already!

    Only joking :D

Hope you're pleased? Not too sure from the pics if it has been, but how low is the car and what on? Coilovers, springs etc?

    All the best,

    Jamie

Ye they look really well on the black. Definetly some coilovers are needed there to drop onto them rims an inch or 2!!

  14. As some of you may be aware, I managed to obtain some later spec darker headlights and they're now fitted (thanks to Gord). In the near future, I'll be looking to match these up with the later spec fogs.

I've heard that there can be issues with wiring these up? Is this true? If so can anyone shed any light on how to overcome this if it is possible?

Also, if someone could post up some pics of their darker fogs (OEM not modified) that would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Jamie

Jamie are you talking about front or rear fogs??

  15. But the above is correct then?

Is that right mate, what you have said above? The RS200 (SXE-10) is a supercharged version of the IS200 (GXE-10)?

    Jamie

Nah sorry i was just comparing the performance of the 2!! Aint no supercharger on a standard SXE-10! a supercharged IS200 GXE-10 is about the same BHP as a standard RS200 SXE-10. bit more torque from the supercharged IS. both pushing out about 210bhp. Hope that clears things up for you. All of the above are correct though :P

  16. Knock knock knock.....................

    ??????????????????

@ Lee: Ye im interested in seeing the results!! Getting them fitted by a place called the Tuning Factory in Dublin, same place i bought them off. They are the distributor for D2 coilovers in Ireland. Getting them fiited tomorrow. They have a good setup in their shop but i still think ill need to spin over to tonu in the summer to get the geometry done as the word confuses people over here!

  17. Oh they definately look the part matey. What are the stats on them? Lowering etc? Did they turn out to be expensive?

Can't wait to see the results once installed :D

    Jamie

Here's a link to some info on them, they are the Type Street standard ones i think 960 Euro Getting them fitted tomorrow. Will stick up some pics when done
