Did it push the price over the price for interim service on the Lexus website? I also got a 1L bottle of oil at last service. I noticed it was on the invoice but as it was all covered by the service plan and I didn’t pay anything extra I thought no more about it. I’m also Merseyside area.

Just had another look. The MM21 version is nearly a year older than current MM17/19. I presume they’ve pulled the new update as it was bricking units. Here’s the thread from earlier.
There is usually a map update release twice per year so the next one is due some time around October / November. Hopefully they will sort out whatever the problem is for then. Hard to believe something like this gets released without testing though and I’m not sure I would be too keen to carry out the update myself until I was sure it was ok.

That’s interesting. I don’t know which version sat nav you have but is suspect it’s MM21. I have MM17 which is essentially the same maps as MM19. There were reports a few months ago of MM21 units being totally bricked after a map update and requiring replacement. When I downloaded the update for MM17 a few months ago there was also an update for MM21. I’ve just had a look now and there’s nothing there at all for MM21 - not even older maps. I suspect it’s been pulled completely.
In short therefore I think the dealer is telling you the truth - just not the whole truth……..

I bought a 64gig Sandisk extreme pro 2 years ago and have used that with no problem. As has been said main thing is a fast reliable card. Sandisk make a range of cards and I would probably go for an extreme or extreme pro.

I had this as well. RC F-sport 300h and they quoted price for RCF. I had checked prices for services on website so I had a rough idea what plan should cost so I knew it was too high. When I challenged it I was told “what do you expect- it’s an RCF…….”. I pointed out it wasn’t and they had just serviced it………

No worries. Map is successfully updated now and that’s the main thing 🙂
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, did you notice any changes to functionality or bugs (such as order of files on USB stick, voice commands not working with an iPod / iPhone)?

Great, I’ll give it a go later thanks. Out if curiosity have you updated the DCU / MEU at all or are you still on what it came with?

Updated the map using this process a few times in the past. Went to do it today with the latest version and noticed that there are now 5 iso files not 4 under the FMU folder. The instructions on Lexus tech eu still refers to 4 though. Anyone tried the latest update on MM17 yet and if so any problems?

Just popped out to the car to check our destination is ready for our trip tomorrow and there's no Navigation option, no maps, no Destination option, nothing... !!
This happened to me once while driving. The whole sat nav section just disappeared. After a 20 minute stop at a motorway services it was back to normal and hasn’t happened since.
I don’t think there is any SD card on these models. All the updates are done by a USB stick in the USB port. The maps can update OTA (I think) and you can also update them using Lexus-tech.eu website. Your RC is a year newer than mine though so might be the MM19 version rather than MM17.

There’s a good thread on it here. I’ve done it a few times and it’s gone smoothly. It can be picky about USB sticks though.- 1

Absolutely spot on that was the setting when he showed me! I downloaded and printed both manuals, you would have thought a premium marque would include them 🙄. Lots of pages.
Just a quick question about the car. Does it have Android Auto? I don't think it does as I can't find a setting for it but just making sure.
As already advised sadly no option to update to include android auto or car play. They do come though with 3 years of map care from date first registered as new. You should therefore be able to update the maps to the latest version if not already done. There’s more than one way of doing this but I’ve found the Lexus tech EU site the easiest. Some dealers will update the maps free of charge when they do a service, others will charge for it.

There is a setting to disable the smart entry system - presumably to reduce risk of key clone theft. I’ve used it in the past and when set it does require you to hold the key against the start button in order to start the car. You should though have still been able to open the car using the buttons on the fob but not the sensor on the car door handle. I’d have been suspicious of the 12v main Battery as well though. It doesn’t tolerate being used to fiddle with settings for any length of time unless you are in ready mode. This was stressed to me by the Lexus dealer that sold the car to me on handover.
It’s well worth downloading both manuals from the website and having a browse. There are a lot of settings that you can customise……….😂

I must admit I don’t tend to notice any lag if I’m in sports mode. That’s an RC300h but I’m pretty sure it’s the same generation hybrid as the IS. For this reason I do use sports mode when I’m driving on the motorway as in this scenario sports mode doesn’t seem to affect fuel consumption (as the engine is running all the time anyway) and it’s much more responsive if you want to accelerate into a gap. If I hit heavy traffic then I’ll put it back into normal or eco as it definitely does affect fuel consumption then.

I had a IS250 from new until very recently. Loved the car but awful in snow. In Liverpool though it rarely snows. I bought snow socks for it 7 years ago after the last really bad winter. They sat in my boot each winter unused until last year. An unpredicted snow storm last year resulted in a lot of roads being ungritted. I used the snow socks and they worked really well. Better traction than the 4 x 4’s BUT it’s flat round here so I did not try them on a hill. Took about 10 minutes to get them on and 5 minutes to get them off again.
Service.

Intermediate service for an RX should be £340 according to Lexus website so as long as total didn’t exceed that then I’d treat it as a courtesy. They probably need to show it on invoice to declare it as an expense.
