  1. I agree totally, I ave also just found the secret menu which gives the option to change the country, but mine is less than a week old and I am twitching a bit about changing it.

Put me on the list for the petition. I have actually just spoken with my dealer regarding the issue of the phone block and he said that whilst you cannot enter a phone number on the screen whilst moving, you can still do it on your phone keypad!!! (much safer that, isn't it!!) But he still would not budge on releasing the block. I am starting to think having read all this thread that only way will be to snip the wire as mentioned earlier, which I assume takes the speed signal from the nav unit. Think I may do a bit more searching first thoug.

    Regards

    Steve

  2. LS430 I was offered this car top of the range adaptive criuse ect for the sum of 45K, thats a 57K car ( at least) for 45K, New model on it's way (460) I turned it down though, got 20% off a new (in september) audi 4.2 A8 TDI fully speced up with full sports options, + pax system run flat 19" wheels ect, ect, retail 64K my price £51200 and thats on order for september.

Lexus do not like discounting and consequently dont sell many cars. :D

Got my brand new unregistered 06 plate RX400SE in my preferred colours with dealer extras last Friday. Total on the road should have been £43,800, signed up for a cash deal at £39,300 !!

So the discounts are there you just have to get the right time, patience is key!!

  3. I can see your point, but comparing a large, heavy SUV with the aerodynamics of a brick wall to a sleek and "light" coupe' such as the Saab does not make sense to me...

The 400H is not about saving on petrol, it's about getting more from the petrol you pay for.

Compare it with other large SUVs (X5, Ml, Range, even Cayenne), and you'll find out that it's the one giving you the best performance/consumption ratio, or the other way round.

Given that, any large diesel engine will give you better mpg on a motorway, but then you'd be driving a truck... :winky:

one other point to mention about the 400H fuel consumption, lots of members have different views on whether it is as good as the book says. But it is not just about what the mpg computer tells you, thats only the start. Remember when you are standing in traffic with no engine running, the computer is NOT incorporating the standing time in the MPG equation hence (MILES per Gallon). if you are not travelling anywhere how can it tell how much petrol you are not using over a distance of 0 miles. You just have to accept that whilst you are sat in traffic all the other cars around you are sipping fuel whilst you are not. Try having your consumption screen on as you decelerate to a stop. It goes all the way upto 99.9mpg until you hit stand still and then goes to zero.

  4. Hi there

Just got my brand new 400H on Friday after test driving it a few weeks ago. So far I think its amazing, although I must admit I did not drive the 300 and have not driven any other Lexus (a lexus virgin, you might say). It is a bit strange getting used to the batteries, but the mpg is working out on the top side of 32, which is something I have not seen for many years. And for a 4x4 it certainly moves quickly enough. Not had any rattles yet, but if they start it will be straight back to the dealership.
