  1. My parents are moving to Spain shortly and want to change their PC before they go so I can set it up and show him the new stuff he needs to know cos I wont be there to get him out of trouble!!! He's asked whether a laptop would be worth getting, and after looking at prices/specs it seems that you pay a premium for a laptop. I've never bought a laptop, only desktops. Can anyone fill me in with regards to best processors to go for, spec in general really. Only wanna spend around £600-£650 all in. I've looked at Dell Inspirons but really have nothing to compare to with regards to reliability etc. Any advice appreciated. Cheers :winky: Matt
  2. Can't help you on the SatNav screen problem mate, but I do know that you can't fit a bottom loader into an early IS - the connector at the back is different I think. Someone more knowledgable should help you out soon, but I would say your better off sticking getting yourself a decent aftermarket player. Thats what I'd do anyway. ATB Matt
  3. My 03 Sportcross had all alloys replaced under original 3 year warrenty in March. Get yourself down to ANY Lexus garage before your 3 years runs out and you'll get them replaced.
  4. Lovely looking motor fella, but you've put your towbar on upside-down!!! :P
  5. We both got on the A1 at Stevenage and both exited at Hatfield. I do that route every day and I've never seen you before. Matt
  6. But some vehicles have huge and long doors that the edge of their doors just touch the body of your car when they swing open. This way you will get a long deep scrape instead of dent. It happened to a friend of mine who parked in the Parent and Child spots :D Thats all you deserve if you park in parent spaces without having kids - w :tsktsk: r !!
  7. Wish u hadn't told me that one mate - I'm doing a skydive on Friday!!!
  8. Welcome and enjoy your great new car!! :D

  10. Yes, they use refurbs. They are actually better quality than the originals! :D The only direct replacement they change for new are the 18" styling kit alloys Never saw this reply before collecting my car, so I asked the service guy, and he confirmed they are refurbs. I said "So have they had any extra treatment so they dont corrode again??" He said "Nope they are exactly the same" I said "So will they corrode again then??" He said "All alloy wheels corrode!! And I've never known anyone replace alloys like Lexus do, and I've worked at B*W, Audi, Merc, Saab. They all corrode but the customer just accepts it!!!" I said "Maybe its just to do with Lexus owners having the knowledge that they can get them replaced!!" I also asked what the warrenty was on the new wheels. He said the warrenty runs out with the original warrenty - ie. not even 12 months!!! So my 1 week old alloys warrenty runs out TOMORROW !!!!! Thats b0110x !!!!
  11. I too signed up a few months ago and get regular emails from them updating me on how membership is going. Not holding my breath, but if they pull it off it can only be good for us all. Need all the pennies in my pocket now I've got a Lex, a wife AND 2 kids to support!!!!!
  12. Dont click it then!!!!! I did warn you!!!
  13. If it's a straight swap and you have no issues at the moment I would say not necessary. OK cheers Neil
  14. Sorry to hijack thread, but while on this subject fellas, should I get a full geo done after having a new set of standard alloys fitted on Tuesday????? TIA Matt
  15. I still haven't done anything at work yet!!!! Must...........quit..........internet..........
  16. Whys that mate???? Has it got near-on 100k on the clock, cos thats when the cam-belt needs changing It's just something I was advised, when buying second hand cars, if the person hasn't got the history. I wouldn't waste loads of cash getting it changed if you're its nowhere near 100k though. Put the money towards a newer motor with less miles. My first IS had 89k on it when I sold it and I hadn't had the cam belt changed. Good luck with your search though, hope you get yourself a good un. The guys on here are great if you've got any questions, so dont be afraid to ask!!! Cheers :winky: Matt
  17. Just wasted first 2 hours of the day playing this....... Ball Game Loads of great links on the home page too: Fresh99 Dont click them if you have things you should be doing!!!!! Matt

  19. Thats a bummer fella - I read a post on here a guy said he had kerbed his alloys but they still changed them!! I would have thought if there was corrosion elsewhere on the wheel, then a bit of kerbing wouldn't have prevented the corrosion anyway - so it would have still occurred, kerbed or not!!! Try another dealer, or ring Lexus GB. If its still under warrenty you should get them changed. Good luck Matt
  20. My 2003 SportCross is in today for alloy wheel replacement under warrenty - although I wasn't aware they would put refurbs on. Is that the policy of Lexus GB???
  21. I can only repeat what the other guys have said, you should get a decent car for £15k. I'm also on my 2nd IS, I paid £13k for my first one , a 3 year old SE. Have a good look round though as I'm sure you'll find some good deals out there. Matt
  22. Where does it seem to come from and during idle or moving ? Hear it during braking Check all wheel nuts for lose yourself . If that does not solve get a mechanic to chech the brake and service both front calipers. That will resolve the clicking/knocking issue. It'll be resolved tomorrow under warrenty by Hatfield.
