  1. Do you mean you find the ect/pwr mode annoying Rick? As I said, I don't really use it as I drive in "D" mainly and use the stick shift mainly for engine braking. When in "D" I have certainly found mine extremely responsive and on the odd times that I "floor" the accelerator it appears to respond immediately.
  2. In 7 years I have never noticed any real lag. If you kick down it will have no more lag than if you used "E" shift as they like to call it. Also don't need pwr mode. The acceleration is not comparable to the GS300 either from stationary or from say 50mph to 70mph (ish) if you need rapid acceleration. Test drive another and put it through it's paces and you will see what I mean.
  3. No real lag on 430 but if you want it is simple to use the auto stick as a "manual". The autobox is superb on the 430. I tend to use it mainly on downhills to use engine braking as that was how I was taught to drive in the late '60's rather than following cars which seem to brake constantly on any downhill stretch of road. The "E" shift is really not needed.
  4. I would be concerned with those error codes on a car that has only done 11,000 miles (if genuine mileage!) MAF circuit low input & throttle actuator control motor. £10,000 seems very expensive for 2005 GS300.
  5. Does the car handbook not give relevant info?
  6. Do you know why it is seeping oil? Is it damaged or could it just be gasket?
  7. At the time I bought my GS430 I lived in Coventry and purchased it from Lexus Coventry trading in my '96 GS300 Sport. Strangely enough, the GS 300s' and IS300 were not a patch on the GS430.It had full Lexus history until the last service in August last year. Unfortunately, since I only currently do about 3000 miles p.a. and 4000 in other car, I might decide to sell it soon as we no longer require 2 cars. Glad you found a decent replacement after your collision.
  8. Not all GS430's have been thrashed. Mine has genuine 71,500 miles and I have owned it for last 7 years. It has certainly not been thrashed and I would imagine that the very few that you looked at were poor examples.
  9. The ZZ5 are far better than ZZ3, still running nicely on fronts. I am also very happy with the Capitol Eco.
  10. I pick up on every little noise in cars and had none of real note in my MK1 GS. My GS430 is pretty rattle free too. Build quality on the Mk2 GS is not generally as good as Mk1 though. Things just don't seem as solid.
  11. All comes down to the accountants pennypinching and not realising it probably costs more in warranty claims and loss of reputation than is saved. I saw the same happen at a paving manufacturer I worked for a few years ago. My Mk1 GS300 Sport had no issues at all.
  12. Far better to go for a GS430. I had a '96 GS300 Sport for 6 yrs but traded it for my GS430 7 years ago and although I feel the build quality and design/shape was better on the 300 Sport the 430 is so much better enginewise.
  13. So has the OP had his case heard yet I wonder?
  14. Needs speedo that reads both mph & kph to pass SVA and mph MUST be more prominent. It is legal to use a vehicle which just has k/h as long as the car is not uk registered but once you import and try to register it then it needs to meet uk regs regarding speedo.
  15. If it has been converted then why do pics not show that? Are the pics actually of the car that is for sale? It also states at end that since odo is in kilometres it may suit export to NZ, Malaysia, Kenya........ so which is correct.
  16. If you look at the dial it ONLY shows kph and where yours shows both and says km/h MPH in bottom centre of dial the one on Ebay only says km/h.
  17. One thing that stands out is the odometer is in kph so would have to be converted to mph.
  18. I'm sure that if any real threat was evident then imports of these vehicles would be halted by other countries.
  19. Trouble is that they are quite likely to kill others too. Speed is not the killer, it is the idiots who drive beyond their capabilities and don't take note of road/traffic/weather conditions as well as the car/motorcycle they are supposed to be in control of.
  20. Germany has totally different rules to UK regarding speed. Many people think that it is ok to drive at whatever speed they want in Germany which is a fallacy. There is an advisory limit of 130kph on motorway/dual carriageway type roads. Some have variable limits similar to parts of M25, M42 depending on weather & traffic.
  21. I would not touch that dealer with a bargepole. He says he imported the car privately for his dad but then says it is a trade-in so being sold as seen ....No Warranty. That rings alarm bells immediately.
  22. There was quite a lot of Crowns in Ireland, I remember a friend having a 2.8 in Dublin. I don't remember if it had leather, but the seats in this one looks like the have a lot more than 60,000 miles on them. William Seats are not really a good method of judging mileage as there are so many factors which contribute to how they look.
  23. Lots of imported Jap imports about.......Lots of Pajeros, Toyota mini mpv things(forget the name) Used to be a place in Coventry who only sold imports, Estima.....one just went down the road!
  24. Worth a phone call to a Lexus dealer to see if they know. Have you thoroughly checked the manual for info?
  25. event tyres. used more than once
