slight dink in front n/s wing, about 1" diameter no depth as such
  6. Had things under the "approved used warranty". 2 front tyres on GS300 Sport around 13 years ago which was caused by something going wrong on front suspension I believe and wore tyres to cord in around 500 miles. Headlight washer relay/motor on the GS430 about 7 years ago & had some front steering/suspension bits (£800+) on GS430 after around 3 months following purchase but can't remember now which was replaced under warranty and which was done under Sale of Goods Act. As with everything, read the small print very carefully.
  7. The interval for plugs on GS430 (same engine) recommended 5yrs/60k. Lexus Coventry changed the plugs on mine when I bought it in 2008 but I haven't changed them since as although 7 years it has only done 27k since and runs perfectly. I guess that's down to different cars having different service needs/schedules..... The service needs/schedules with regard to plugs will be the same for the SC 430, GS 430 and LS 430 since they share the same engine Michael.
  8. Have you tried putting your reg./ chassis number/ vin into an auto parts site or your local Lexus dealer?
  9. My late 2002 GS430 SENav has the 18" sport wheels fitted from new with 245/40/18 tyres but SE suspension and it has never really felt "all over the place" when cornering. It handles extremely well. Running Avon ZZ5 front, but about to replace as they are getting low on tread, and Capitol Eco 7 on rear.....which are excellent. Handling may be down to tyres or pressures.
  10. They can get the full history if they can be bothered. Try Coventry or Lincoln as they are the same franchise.
  11. The interval for plugs on GS430 (same engine) recommended 5yrs/60k. Lexus Coventry changed the plugs on mine when I bought it in 2008 but I haven't changed them since as although 7 years it has only done 27k since and runs perfectly.
  12. If the car has full service history c/w invoices it should be there. If invoices are not there then Lexus Cheltenham should be able to find out.
  13. More performance = more dangerous in the insurance world. The only reason insurance is more expensive here is because the companies are extorting customers. As customers don't have a choice in whether to take insurance or not, an increase in prices across all companies leaves the consumer with nowhere to go. Either that or us brits are just ***** drivers Very simplistic to state that. A lot more than performance is taken into consideration. Example Wife has Hyundai i30 with me named. I have GS430 with wife named. Both policies are the same for mileage, fully comp, NCD etc. Hyundai last year £148, GS430 £152 so on your criteria the GS is virtually the same as a 1.4 i30 !!!!!!!!!! The reason insurance costs more here (if it truly does) is not,as you state, that customers are being extorted. Too many fraudulent claims are certainly a major cause as is rising costs for repairs. Just got the renewal for wife's car at £163 which I phoned about but they say it is almost their base price.
  14. I don't see the relevance of how much it cost you to insure a Corvette in the US. Just about everything is a different price in different countries.
  15. Agreed Pete, but I didn't say it hadn't been declared. It does seem highly unlikely though.
  16. "I know someone who has a uk provisional license and has 3 year no claim bonus and had even a tracker fitted the first time he got insurance. He took test once and failed badly. Joke and a half. ha. Honestly I do not see much difference between insurance and extortion. That's another topic." The person you mention is wasting money buying "insurance" as he is not covered unless he has declared provisional licence and is accompanied by a qualified driver at all times.
  17. The 14 day cooling off period is not normally chargeable provided no claim has been made during that period. There is so much that is misunderstood regarding insurance. Regarding the offense it would be prudent to notify the insurance that you would like to see evidence that an offense has actually happened. Are you certain that you didn't take out the policy and then realised that an offense had not been declared?
  18. Glad it has been repaired to your satisfaction but what was the difficulty matching the colour?
  19. So how did you decide that the badge was not hers? Some conditions are not readily visible so people tend to assume that unless the person has 1 leg the badge is not theirs.
  20. I had a complete bonnet respray by an independent and it was a great job. Don't worry about the colour being "rare" as it, like other colours, has a code which ensures a match if done correctly.
  21. They have website with email and phone details. Their number is (+44) 020 7048 3700
  22. Do they say where they have ordered from? Do Nissan have a UK customer service line for Infiniti? If so it might be an idea to call them to see what the lead-in time should be.
  23. If you are using the repairer that the insurers decided then you should be contacting them to get things moving. Have you phoned any Infiniti dealers to ask them about availability of the parts? At least you would then have some idea of timescale.
  24. Excellent advice Colin, I tested the resistance at the plug. I used the two black wires. Both o2 sensors indicated open circuit.Given that the sensors are quite easy to access, I'm going to replace them myself. What I'm looking for now is a reccomendation as to where to source. Obviously Lexus will be quite expensive. My local garage sourced an o2 sensor for my GS430, Denso, not expensive. He had no problem at all, just looked in his system online and got it. Can't remember exact cost but I think it was around £50. I can check if it would help.
  25. You may find that they won't hold value as much as you think after 4/5 years, look at the prices on these cars and gauge the % depreciation compared to "normal petrols" as you put it.
