it is due to the SMTP not gracefully failing... the person you tried PMing had mail problems and sometimes do not accept the mail... the forum software has a right moan.

what would be possible is the keypad could have a fluid brushed onto them and with a black light could show the last 4 keys on the pad that had been touched.
