    my advice would be take it slowly to suss out your market, I have many come and go on here in the last 11 years so be careful mate. some make it and some don't so try and not get massive overheads at first mate

    ok, but it could still be a faulty sensor.

    on the MAF sensor is an ambient air temprature sensor.. this may be gone or needs a clean, but you probably did this when cleaning the MAF anyway

    is it constant black smoke or only when you start the car?

    Hi I think I have read a few times that this is a common fault with the early LS400 do a search on the club or google and you will see it's a common issue and not expensive to fix, but requires some research

    battery change... but get the battery from maplins or a watch shop... £9 in dealers for a £1 battery

    i did that to a lovely set of alloys i bought which cost me £1400 ... someone asked me to move car.. i nearly strangled them afterwards LOL
