You'll need to remove the trim and airduct (easy) from top of rad area. Suitable spanner or socket for tugging on tensioner to enable belt fit. Definitely a roadside repair I found it fiddly as it is best done with two pairs of hands! Quality belt under £20 Check to see if any of the belt driven components has not failed/seized causing the belt damage or slip....these belts are very tough unless extremely old. Ensure no fluid leaks causing major belt slip. Maybe it's time for a new auxiliary belt tensioner when you have time?

What does this do?

No idea. Talking to yourself button when passenger is not listening. May be it silences the passenger. Microphone? -

Ah interesting. Lexus dealers are franchises in effect or distributors so as long as they follow key guidelines they will source as preferred. Castrol is, from my experience, excellent. -

Yep I use Opie oils for engine oil. Shell Helix which is what UK Lexus use. diff oil any solid brand to spec but I confess Lexus gearbox oil which is not outrageously expensive. -

What! (Spills tea and cup & saucer fall to the shagpile). You mean you have not bought the OE oil from Lexus? That unctuous, gossamer liquid strained through the under garments of a 1000 vestal virgins? Half the forum won't speak to you now. Wonder who makes Asdas stuff... -
ABS damaged new sensor fitted cant remove lights on dash
Tinonline replied to Goldberg's topic in Brakes & Suspension
Hi From my research this is a resetting issue: The codes it found were:C1203- ECM Communication CircuitMalfunctionC1345 - Linear Solenoid Valve OffsetLearning UndoneYou need to Initialize and Calibrate the Linear Solenoid Valve. You have to use the scan tool to do this. Normally you set the parking brake, Initialize and wait until the VCS and ABS lights stop blinking after about 2 minutes. I can't find anymore detail and specific steps for your motor might be different but it is a reset exercise and it might need a full on scanner. I'm sure more specific advice will be forthcoming but hope this reassures/helps. -
Been there worried that. Cold charging size, terminals, price... i ended up buying a battery from local Lexus dealer and all in all price was competitive and piece of mind. but... Get the direct replacement and everything should match irrespective of manufacturer...might be a few more bob. Should all match up.

The LS400 might not be a looker, but in the driver's seat it can't fail to impress. You get used to the so called 'lack of feel steering' and if minded, you can chuck it around and pull enough G to scare off all but the new fast fad cars (like the Ford ST - actually not a bad motor...but a Lexus it aint). In my humble, prices have or are about to bottom out, just watch the values start to climb. We'll first see it in the Trade £7,999 ono tags and it will be "a lot of car for the money." 430 prices will be pushed up too. What can you replace it with? A Merc? No thanks, Jag? I'm a Jag owner/nut - not until they make a car that is reliably built with good quality parts...oh never mind it'll never compare to a 400 however fab it looks. Beemer? Over rated and over priced. Disregard anything from year 2000 - 2010 with an auto ZF gearbox whatever vehicle manufacturer. I'm not a fan of diesel although I gather it's very good in trucks and trains. Did you know? Jag use same coil on plug manufacturer as Lexus. I haven't read of any need to replace coils through intermittent misfire issues on the LS. Both my XKR and S type needed new coils: the Jag forum was full of 'I have a misfire when warm 50 mph plus'...coils. Funny that. It seems a lot of LS cars are being scrapped when there is still life in them. What next? 460 for me. Please tell me it's a cracker...

Yes the keys are just the start of your problems. (Pun intended). A grand is probably way too much. im sure with appropriate numbers and V5 Lexus will provide a key. It's not an unheard of problem surely? Bound to be a few bob. Still think a grand is a p take. You are buying it without a test drive. £400 cash to take it off hands and spare the hassle...

Hi there is some info in the handbook I believe the spec refers to G5. or similar. Oats means it's ideal for alloy and essentially doesn't contain nasty stuff. I would opt for long life as this is a Lexus requirement: complies with their service intervals. one can run around in circles on this...as with oil... you can always buy from Lexus if you'd rather. Sometimes prices are surprisingly ok. -

Hi I used Eurocarparts for neat pink long life. It's OATS and all so is perfect. They have some very good offers on and that might make for a good deal. For the water I was lucky with 5ltr distilled at only £1 yes one pound only on a Halfords offer. Worth shopping around. -
Hi Barry Pretty sure not. There is an optional self-input security code though for the sat nav unit as theft prevention. It is optional and you can set/not set/change it. Before you do anything you may want to access the security settings via the unit menu and see if the security feature is on or off. You may be able to switch it off without entering the code given that you have the ignition key - not sure.

Hi there Managed to clean and feed the leather interior over a few days. Now what next!? Really it's time to change the diff oil despite the local dealership growing over it. But it's a mineral based fluid and even I know it doesn't last forever. Armed with GL5 fluid and crush washers I jacked the car up and slid in axle stands. Boy there's little room and its claustrophobic wielding torch and bar. Both plugs were rusty and solid. So much so I couldn't fit a 10mm Allen key socket without WD40 and persuasion. Nothing undoing. Time for a think. I ordered and collected two replacement plugs (one magnetic), for £13.19 from Lexus. I'm going to have another more determined go, will remove the wheel for better light and access. My spirit level will assist in ensuring all is level whilst filling! Difficult differential that's for sure! 😌

Very nice and yep I wonder how. 460 might compare? Sometimes paying top money is a very sensible step if it matches what you are buying. But this is not from a Lexus dealer so top dollar is not correct. Also agree this has to be triple a condition with belts done and nothing to be done one next 2 years. fun looking though ain't it 😊 Simon

Hi I recently changed spark plugs, air filter and adjusted the slack out of the throttle cable. This has transformed the speed, pick up and sharpness of the engine. I have noticed the difference. only thing I would caution is that throttle bodies have a layer of protective coating and unless sticking or faulty are best left alone. My mileage is 78k and there is nothing on the butterfly...or at least not enough to warrant touching.
