  1. I'ts on the side supports i'll give them a call tomorrow i'm off to smell the seats now lol

You should give them the opportunity to fix it, despite what you think of them. Does it smell like boot polish or similar? Where exactly on the seat is it as wearing jeans can mark leather especially on any side bolster when you get in. I had a dealership cover a dashboard mark with boot polish or similar but it didn't fool me and was later confirmed by a motor inspector.
  2. for those of you that know I've not really had much good to say about Lexus Cambridge since taking delivery of my 220d SEL MM all that aside and over and done with,

I step into the car yesterday to find quite a noticeable large area of the leather has quite badly worn and looks set to get worse without some sort of treatment or repair.

This was defiantly not there a few days ago my theory is that something had been used to cover it when I bought the car now its wearing off and showing all the marks

it looks like its been there for some time so it looks like it will be another expensive repair on my part

although the car is 06 it has done 66500 miles so is out of the manufactures warranty anyone know how much this will cost to repair/replace?

My 7 year old leather sofa looks in much better condition and that gets sat on a hell of a lot more than my car :P

    :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

  3. Wow to pick up your car with all them problems are discusting............................

If your anything like me I borrowed Lexus Oxford's IS250 Auto for almost a week whilst they fixed rattles and in that week i realized i made a mistake buying the diesel :crybaby:

But strangely the 3 days I've had my car back I'm starting to really enjoy driving it

The SRS light on the dash has developed an intermittent fault in that sometimes it doesn't go out when the engine is started. I've rang the local dealership and spoken to a very helpful guy who is taking the car in to do a diagnostics check. I also asked him if he could tell me if the 5th injector mod had been done. He rang me back within five minutes to say it hadn't and they will do it the same day. I'm taking the opportunity to borrow an IS250 auto to compare.
  4. yeah my car had 65k on the clock when I bought it but they changed all four as part of the deal

don't make the same mistake i did

make sure any problems you have especially alloys and rattles are fixed by the dealer your buying the car from before you take ownership because your 1yr extended warranty will not cover these after you have purchased it..... it will only cover mechanical faults

I spoke with my local stealership today on the corrosion warranty on the wheels....it's 3 years or 60K miles, whichever comes up first. Also, they'll only change out wheels that have signs of corrosion on them as the replacements are new rims and not refurbished as was the case with the IS200's when they changed all four/five.

I have minor bubbling on two wheels so I'll leave it until it's nearer the end of the warranty period. Only problem is I'm about to put on the summer tyres with the Volks alloys back on the car...

  5. I'm 4 Weeks into ownership of my 06 SEL MM at 1st i had a lot to complain about Rear view mirror fuel consumption dodgey corroded alloys 3 separate rattles (2 dash and 1 door)

Now that these have all been rectified minus fuel consumption I'm a lot happier and love the car

don't make the same mistake i did

make sure any problems you have especially alloys and rattles are fixed by the dealer your buying the car from before you take ownership because your 1yr extended warranty will not cover these after you have purchased it..... it will only cover mechanical faults

    Good luck

I have Just Purchased a IS220d on a 55 plate with 18k miles SE with MM pack, sunroof cruise control full leather 17" wheels

Caxton slate i paid 17900 and got £3k for IS200 sport on a x reg with 149k miles

should i stop the sale as i have only paid the deposit (after reading the comments on the 220

i Loved the test drive, and i should get a better return than my IS200 on Fuel I hope

    or am i wrong

    Matt

  6. Ill get straight to the the point

    An 06 220D SEL-MM only had for 3 weeks

I've gone to select 2'nd gear it won't go try again to select again it won't, try again I think I've selected 2'nd raise the clutch and quickly realize its in 4th the car stall's whilst moving or negotiating a corner?

This has happened 3 times this week and once last week,

Please tell me this has happened to others and I'm not just becoming a very poor driver :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

    HELP

  7. I've only used it the once at the weekend coming from Cambridge to High Wycombe,

I was just wondering how accurate you have found it and how quickly it's updated fair enough it re routed me around the M11 because it had been shut following an accident,

But the whole journey home it kept flagging up (no less than 15 times) the yes/no screen to re route because of congestion ahead apart from the initial problem on the M11 I ignored it and stuck to the usual route back with no further problems or delays?

I'm just wondering if I should really trust the sytem or just use the old fashion method of radio news.

    Cheers

  8. Sorry if this has been brought up elsewhere but:

I was at my dealer yesterday to have some new alloys put on under warranty and a few other bits and pieces I brought up the issue of poor fuel consumption and they advised me that the day prior they had received a new software update from Lexus GB for the ecu (which I have had) and they were in the process of arranging a recall for all models. And anyone who has not had the 5th injector replaced can soon expect a recall soon also, (are things looking up?)

Apparently - so I've been told the only difference I will spot with the updated ECU is the idle speed......... Can't say I've noticed anything

:offtopic: I had a loan of the RX400h for the day what a machine absolutely loved the drive but I felt that the interior was bit cheap :shutit:

  9. Hi,

I'm a class 2 Multi drop driver for a well known food-service company called 3663 and have been for just over a year now, it does make me wonder when I look at some of the slightly older people I work with and how miserable they seem....... will be like them one day? I hope not I do very much enjoy it and firmly believe a days work is what you make it,(choose your attitude)

anywhere between 10-30 drops per day so you just take the good with the bad,

For the 1st few months I did do some class 2 HIAB work I miss that dearly playing with big boys toys but unfortunately although its easy theres not much money to be made.

If your looking at 1 week fas-track courses I would be cautious of doing 1&2 back to back

    Good Luck

  10. I've been looking at diesel supplements such as redex not really the performance enhancing type but more the fuel and injector cleaning type ones, does anyone know if this stuff actually works? or if it will slightly improve the much discussed MPG?

  11. I've already given in and told them I'm keeping the car :shutit: they will not come and collect it which means another 180mile round trip for me its just not worth the hassle and I'm tired of arguing with them i give up it's just left a very sour taste in my mouth,

I'm looking forward to visiting them next week to have the new set of alloys put on (schedulled) just hope that Center Manager is working and i can get him out of camera's view :shifty:

    Thanks for all your input

  12. Well I lost my battle they still won't do the 70K service I think I need to eat humble pie :crybaby: all I can do is continue the argument with Lexus GB although as they have statted its nothing to do with them as Lexus cambridge is Franchised

I just hope that by dragging Lexus Cambridge through the mud on this site has done enough to make anyone on here think twice before signing any deal with the thiefing gits,

Although their initial sales pitch and service was great there aftercare is :tsktsk:

    Thanks for listening

  13. I remember your original post and the concerns you had, glad it all worked out ok for you :D

:crybaby: As some of you know that my car was getting shipped back from Cyprus, well I finally colllected it today and what a relief it was to see it shining in the wharehouse and no damage to it, apart from where the mattress was resting on a blanket that was placed on the boot and roof to prevent anything from falling onto the car. So now I have a scratched boot spoiler to which I am not worried about as I think it will buff out but I don't care.... I have missed my car and had to put up with a 08 reg Corsa Design, hated it, crap on fuel and well I don't want to go down that road.

I can't wait to MOT it and Tax it on Monday, I am like a kid with a new toy, I am all excited again.

Any way if Parthiban reads this your chrome tailpipe is here so let me find my new one and this one is yours after I have given it a spit and polish..

I never thought i could miss a car so much even tho I have had it 4 years.

I won't go on about it, just thought I would share my joy of getting it back and the persuit of perfection shall continue :winky:

  14. I agree with your comments the milleage isn't he end of the world its more principal,

I cover very few miles so the extra 1600k goes a long way towards my argument

I agree with the other guys above, as long as they still have your p/ex and you don't mind giving this car up and finding another, then I'd stick with your decision...........

I personally don't think the mileage issue is a big one, so I'd probably have let that go if I'd got extra money off the price of the car in lieu of the service, but I think the fact they've asked you to claim off your insurance for a windscreen that was broken is horrendous service...........I'm really glad I live in London where Lexus dealers still behave like Lexus dealers and don't think they're Audi or something........... :shutit:

  15. Hi and welcome £4500 is not a bad budget the old IS has come down a lot since the introduction of the new IS...........The one your looking at is about the right price for spec, age, millage,

Personally and this is just me but if i was to buy the lower spec ie S i would always be wanting the extra's that the SE has to offer, If I was you look out for a good SE/sport version.

Oh and i hope your wallet don't mind petrol stations

    Good Luck

  16. DJ wazza

This is what gets my back up whilst the car is advertised on their web site the car was still being driven by the previous owner hence the extra high millage apparently this is normal

as I said before I agreed to buy this car without viewing but by test driving a simmillar model

THEY FAILED TO MENTION THAT THIS CUSTOMER DOES 8K EVERY MONTH

Stick to your guns mate. Not only did they hand the car out as a run around whilst you were awaiting delivery,

but hey tried to get you to de-fraud your insurance company to avoid replacing the windscreen.

    You will find another one.
