  2. Well very common fault indeed but from what i can gather it's not an easy job probably best being left to the experts at least you can blame them again if they F :tsktsk: k it up Must be really frutrating though knowing what these cars cost you expect a bit better from lexus what happend to the extensive testing before production surley this must have been found then:question:
  3. Sounds like a good find enjoy :D Some insurance companys offer a gap insurance wich means you will recieve what you paid for it in the event of a claim. Think its only available within the 1st year or so though
  4. Yep i tried it also when this topic was first posted a few weeks back and there is a deffinate diffrence

  6. Both seem like a good deal but alarm bells are ringing How serious is cat D? is it D to A or A to D on the serieous chart? Sorry Kam05 the first IS200 i went to look at was a Cat C write off (only found after doing HPI) this was a private sale from Slough through a guy who bought and sold in his spare time.............. When i quizzed him after spending 42.50 on HPI he seemed to be fair very gob smacked and even offered me a lift home it appered he was genuinley worried about my findings and now 3 months down the line its still in auto trader lying fu :tsktsk: er anyone intrested in looking 2001 Model X reg metalic red £6750 through Paul Noyce I contacted Auto trader to inform them and they wern't intrested tell your friends if anyone happens to be looking for a IS avoid this one

  9. As the title states I have a problem I done a long trip into london today to take my 73yr old aunt on her weekly shop (lets all say ahhh) but anyway on the way there I was in the middle lane traveling about 80ish looking at the new Saab in front (think its the new 95) (WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE REAR LIGHTS) anyhow At that point the saab in front swerved drematicly across into the fast lane and left a pile of debrie in its path as i try to establish what the falling debrie was the car in the 1st lane (i was about to overtake) swerves into my lane Oh sh!t on go the anchors my only escape route was left and the hard shoulder misses screaming the whole works!!! the car handled fantastic and I had every confidence it would but now on the jorney back braking capability is not the same i'm not saying its not working it is.......it's just not efficent in the same way I'm working twice as hard For the Technical minded Pads are Fine Disks are fine Fluid level is fine Breaks had plenty of time to cool down before journey home anyone got any suggestions its going for a check tomorrow anyway but any prior advice would be much appreciated Oh and the falling debrie.................................. 10. I think if we could all afford it we would all go to lexus for our servicing i'm lucky i have a guy who i trust who always does my service/mot etc at way below any qoutation!!! but to all you who pay out to lexus dealerships yes there is peace of mind (it's all that Tea) but the massive rise in main dealers offering free servicing & Free warrenty leaves the smaller dealers hard up which i have found that most off them have had to improve their service & Customer skills just to make ends meat and really what is the diffrence they can all do the same job they are all mechanics
  11. Hi guys, As topic states i'm off abroad (honeymoon) in a few months i'm off to Cala D'or in Spain ive been advised that Cala D'or is a little bit remote and car hire would be a better option for visiting some of the sites i've been looking around natrually for a good deal, And it seems that if i use the local spanish company's im getting an extremley good deal (although i'm only looking online) VW golf or simillar for £120ish per week Grande Punto for around £80ish and all these qoutes are inclusive with insurance excess and DEW but natuarally being abroad i'm wary of rip off mercahnts in case of something going wrong etc. I don't want to be stung in the wallett worst case senario writing of a motor and being left buggard but if i look at Hertz rental etc i'm paying a bit over the odds but if it makes it a safer option then fine (although i'm pretty sure that Hertz would sub contract to a spanish company anyway) has anyone been there and got any recomendations never been there so you when you book online you don't know if your booking the dodgey back street shop or not

  18. Hi guys The past thew months i've been watching closley to all your mechanical posts on the LOC and taking them in step by step and today Ive been out on the drive putting them to the test, First was a nice and simple cleaning out the air intake (hey we all gotta start somewere) the air intake filter was mostly black with wasps flys and all sorts I guess this wil need replacing? or is there another soloution cleaning it up? Secondly my brake callipers are quite rusty and corroded i've been looking at all your posts about painting them but i have the dilemar that my insurance company WILL NOT allow any mods do you think painting them would be classed as a mod??????? don't want to give them any exuces.... it may be safer to just replace with new standard oem anyone know the cost for this? Allthough i'd like to think I could Change callipers myself i don't wan't to take any chances with something as serious as stopping the car :D Wow what a day (well half hour at leat) who know's what tomorrow will bring maybe ill just replace the engine with a new one :D :D :D Sorry to bable any input would be great Cheers
