  1. Have to agree with you exobex the company coming in are there to make a profit, so services we currrently provided will probably be reduced or alterd to to line there pockets, which will have a knock on effect on the good job/service we currently already provide

    Thanks for everyones comments

Working in local government myself I don't see how we can gain by outsourcing to a company that (unlike the council) is in it to make a profit. Council Tax payer ends up paying for it all. Keeping jobs within the authority means that any payments between departments are in reality just "funny money" whirling around within, neither a profit or a loss. As soon as money goes out, money is spent. Doesn't matter if for example in-house sparkies charge £75 per hour but Cowboy Electrical Ltd do it for £50. In-house sparkies in reality would be cheaper, just costing wage+fuel+parts, not the £75 levied by their department, which in fact would just be pushed from one council pot to another.

But hey, that's just my opinion...

  2. Thanks Aido

I currenlty work for local goverment we are a small team of 12 covering security and building maintenece etc i have a very favourable goverment pension, probably "the best" pension in the market i will loose this however the company that takes over (kier Group) must by law have a "comparable" pension scheme and we are told most of our benefits/perks will have to also be comparable, I have heard horror stories of companys coming in draining you for all your knowledge regarding the building and set up etc and then making life so difficult you would'nt want to stay anyway

I guess if i'm honest i'm very well paid for what i do, So no money making business would keep me on (i don't think) if they were able employ a couple of bodies elswere at half the price of me and my team if you know what i mean.

  3. Hi all, As it says on the tin has anyone had any experience of TUPE? my work are looking into outsourcing my job to a managing firm the transfer will probably take place in April so far they seem to be promosing the earth, and that my current working pay and conditions will remain the same nedless to say I don't believe them has anyone had any previous experience on this that would willing to share any thoughts or comments

    Any help appreciated

  4. For the first seven years my 99 IS200 was serviced at main Lex dealers by the previous owner. myself i have had it serviced by a trusted mechanic working from home who has never let me down and at half the price of a main dealer i guess when a car is so many years old the diffrence in value when it comes to sell will never be that great Lexus stamped or not

I'm sure the money i save having it done privetly now will eventually amount to the diffrence of the car value when it comes to resell even without the lexus stamps in the book

  5. Thanks Morse

Not a bad price considering there was a member on here recently trying to organise a group buy for LED Dome lights at the same price you were offering 3 sets of lights :excl:

    Thanks,

All that are listed in Niraj's post (dome light map light and visor lights all blue)could you give me a price for all if you can still supply or not? Sorry I spotted your post about group buy closed after the last message? But if you would be getting them back in anytime soon i would be intrested providing they are plug & play or very easy to install

I won't be running a GB for a while, but keep your eyes out for one. Price will depend on number of people interested - the set which Niraj ordered came to £31.75

Yes - they are a direct plug n play, easy to install.

  10. Hi folks

    Be gentle with me :tomato:

Not being that computer literate  I have a small windows media movie I was sent on personal email at work today its rather hilarious and I want to share it with you but I cant figure out how to load the movie caption into a topic starter can this be done? If so can anyone tell me how to do it or pm your email address and ill forward it onto you maybe someone load it for me

  11. Yep ill second that i'm in bucks (wycombe) and all meets seem  to be a bit further up north maybe we should arrange a something a bit more local

Since I join the club, I have not heard any meeting in either Berkshire or somewhere near, just want to find out anyone would be intereted as I will be off til Friday, as i usually work 6 day a week and long hours of work so could be the best time to meet other members around this area.
  12. Thanks buddy might be worth a call to them thanks again for the info

Its just the standard (speedtouch) modem, pipex sent through as part of the package

Ah rite, is more than likely your area then. The only think you can do is inform them of the problem see if there is anything you can do. I send some big 300-400mb files to some clients, usually via ftp and if the line drops you have to start sending again, can be a real ball ache.

  13. Its just the standard (speedtouch) modem, pipex sent through as part of the package

Are you using any sort of router. My mate had a Linksys router and it kept dropping the connection, he'd reboot it and it'd be ok for a week or so. He has since dumped that one for a new one not had a problem since.
  14. Thanks for the info.... i'm not really a computer buff but could it be something in my settings/pc or the area that i'm in that causes the connection failure? it normally runs at 7.6Mbps which i guess is pretty good so i cant understand why it looses the connection allthough when it is lost its only for a minute or two no real big deal just a pain in the *****

    Hi

I have been with Pipex for the last couple of years and although at some times the speed can vary I do not think I ever lose the connection.

I have had a very good sevice from them, it has only failed once (touch wood) and that was down to a BT fault.

    :D :D
