I would Say £150 for Clutch £100 for rear pads (as maty above says if this is the case?) make sure you have agood look at the state of the discs and make sure there not warped this is a common problem are you likly to get the deposit back if you pull out? is it a dealer or private might be worth taking a mate built like a brick S**t house just incase he trys to get funny
Good luck
OK, I have a little more information on the car... maybe bad news?I have contacted Lexus Liverpool where they serviced it and asked them regarding the service history and safety document...
The clutch will need replacing
The front driver's side caliper is beginning to "bind" slightly
The rear pads have approximately 15% remaining
He hasn't told me about this and hopefully this will lead to further negotiating in price.
I'm a little worried as I don't know the extent of these jobs and parts and could do with some guidance... Anyone have ideas on prices for parts / labour?
Many thanks,
Jamie

Sorry to hear this Robbo i'm in a simmilar postion to you and need to think about selling up, Ive been all day looking around second hand car fourcourts with the wife and nothing compares
sold my lexus today not a happy bunny had to cash in work has dried up and morgage needs to be paid so now the npt so proud owner of a vaux omega this is not the end for my love of lexus i will be back soon with another i hope any way only had my new car 2 hours and have kicked it twice would never do that to the lexi so 4 now this is goodbye but not fare well :shutit: :shutit: -
Thanks for all the support folks
as you say raykhan i think ill just monitor the finances week by week and see how it goes, its really strange ive had a few cars in my time and never really had any probs getting rid.
The lexi although its costing more to run than any other ive had i'm so reluctant to let it go,especially after i looked at a few cars yesturday vauxhall/fords/MG and the interior etc everything is cheap plastic i think i would just miss the quality build all to much
-
Yeah i know what you mean about petrol etc it's a nightmare..... As much as i'd love a second car i need to be sensible and bring all costs down, insurance, petrol, warrenty etc etc i figured i could save £130 a month by downsizing and most of that is the petrol :duh:
I just cant seem to let go?
I know the misses has said its ok to keep the car but why do I get the feeling I might regret her suggestion 4 month's down the line
ive got a little corsa for work. i know its more insurance a year but im saving that and some on fuel by having the second car.costs me £30 to fill the corsa up and it last me over a week.
lexus is 55-60 and that last just under a week.
-
Spotless I should hire you to do mine :D
-
This is hard to discuss so take it easy on me
I'm in between jobs at the minute the new job will mean starting at the bottom end of the ladder again with a lesser salary etc etc
My problem is do I sell the lexi and downsize temporarily of course :D to keep the running costs down?
The wife has said "I know how much you love that car we could probably afford to keep it IF YOU WANT" I was looking around at cars yesterday and I don’t want to look at loosing to much power so here goes I found this http://www.perrys.co.uk/dealer-used-list?p...Saloon/P/25/1/4
I know its a Rover but lets not stray of the topic I phoned A plan to get a quote its 2 insurance groups lower so insurance will be cheaper right?..............Wrong they want nearly a quarter of the premium again
This has upset me and made me realise there might not be that much of a saving downsizing to a car with a little less BHP without looking at Micra etc etc :shutit:
So do I keep looking or do I for fill wife’s suggestion of keeping the lexi and struggle on paying higher insurance petrol etc etc

Damn, I was hoping for a few posts saying the IS300 was definitely the one to go for! I'm planning on test driving both of them which will hopefully sway me one way or the other.
I had a quick look on Auto Trader in my local area & didn't see any IS250 on there for sub £20k. I would go for the SE Auto + multimedia centre. I'll have a closer look later on.
It is Manual although the cheapest i found with MM package

Yeah i should have said refinment with a faint rattle or two
refinement? .... i thought that it was ... if you want "rattles", then 250 is a must .... no? -
Personally I prefer the styling of the old IS but if its the refinment you want then as Kazi says the 250 is a must
No need to spend 26k if your happy to go for 05/55/06 plates there is plenty in auto trader 19/20k with a few miles on the clock
