  1. Is that not dwarfism? A midget is a very small person of normal (ie proportionate) build. So you could classify a giant dwarf, but not a giant midget, as that is like saying someone is a "very large very small" person
  2. Wheel size has nothing to do with ride confort, that's handled by the suspension and the side wall of the tyre Exactly - if you keep the same rolling radius (and the manufacturer will), then bigger wheel=smaller sidewall=firmer ride.
  3. I didn't think it was a "law", merely a "gentlemens agreement" between manufacturers ?
  4. 112 mph (or whatever it is) speed limiter on Jap models????
  5. You can't say that - imagine how many persons of a non-male gender it will offend :winky: Seriously, there must be a sh!tload of people with nothing better to do, sat on their backsides trying to figure out how they can make something, ANYTHING, appear offensive to some minority group or other - just so they can have their 15 minutes (or research grant). Get a real frigging job fer chrissakes Disclaimer: No offense intended to any being, living or deceased I apologise to any recently berieved for using the word deceased I'm sorry for anyone who feels they are emotionally weakened by not having been recently berieved. Furthermore....... Oh b0ll0cks, is there no end to it??????
  6. What I meant was, Iridium plugs are standard fitment from Lexus - He (and you) should have them already.
  7. No, I disagree with that - ECT PWR changes the shift program. It hangs on to gears longer and changes down sooner. I'm not aware it does anything to the ETCS. Also, I'm a little confused by what you said there; if PWR doesn't affect gear shifting (only throttle response) what are the benefits that are lost in EShift? I don't see what that proves, by using e-shift you're overiding the shift program anyway. You would need to do 2 runs in D, with & without PWR. Are we talking at cross-purposes here? Are you talking about "M versus D" or "PWR versus normal" or what?
  8. I disagree. The "power" button does nothing more than increase the sensitivity of the throttle pedal, there is no performance benefit whatsoever. ← Do you mean in M mode, or all the time? I didn't think the throttle sensitivity was affected by anything other than SNOW mode?
  9. The PWR effect is the same in D or M, the shift program is changed. In M mode, the same shift program is followed (as D), except you choose the highest selectable gear.
  10. The actual change isn't quicker for sure, but I much prefer to manually select a lower gear when going for an overtake, rather than just mashing the throttle and waiting for the rather slow-witted (IMO) kickdown. Why the hell didn't they make the kickdown work properly instead of the stupid sequential arrangement? - it's the only thing I don't like about the 'box.
  11. I imagine the Bi-Xenons will be an option. Xenon is the same as HID - usually only the dipped beam though as HID is too "slow" for main beam. Bi-Xenon means both dip & main beams are Xenon, although one lamp is used for both and a mechanism in the reflector changes the beam pattern to get around the warm-up problem.
  12. That's where I've been coming from with this from the word go, simply because it just seems like too much of a coincidence that this started when it started. For a while I had myself persuaded I had a sticking caliper but now I'm not sure. Deep down, I still think there must be something causing friction where there shouldn't be friction. Could something as simple as corrosion around hubs (or discs or whatever) cause this? Maybe if the car is on a ramp for a while things settle in a different position, but once the wheels are bearing the load for any length of time they revert back again? I'm getting my girlfriend to drive the car home this evening to see if I'm crazy. Of course, given that I'm letting her drive, I *must* be crazy... Si ← Corrosion on the disk faces (ie the braking surface) would be a symptom, not a cause of a sticking caliper. It's possible that an excess of corrosion not on the braking surface could interfere with pad operation, but I doubt that's your problem. Are all the faces (both sides of each disk) nice and clean when you've been out for a run? If you put it on jacks/stands, do the wheels spin fairly freely? Also is your handbrake OK - this operates a separate brake mech' on the inside of the rear disks. I've had problems with this setup on other cars due to poor servicing (not Lexus).
  13. It would depend. If all 6 are crap then yes, you'd really notice. On the other hand if only 1 was breaking down a bit under load, the effects could be subtle. They should be good for 60k and when mine were changed I couldn't tell any difference, but it depends on so many things like driving style, servicing, even the fuel. Only way to know really would be to change them.
  14. Unlikely that a blocked air filter would cause symptoms that come and go like that. Also "physical" problems like juddering and losing more speed than expected "off-throttle" sound like maybe a sticking brake caliper - interesting that it was better after the wheels had been removed & replaced.
  15. The 300 is a fair bit quicker than the 200 but the best part (for me) is how effortless it is. If your 200 is an auto, there's a huge difference - I had a 200 auto as a courtesy car and I thought it was broken
  16. Probably. South Wales Police have at least one fully marked-up traffic car with angel eyes! ← All 5s have them, so did the previous shape.
  17. Second that - I saw the ratios for the manual box are a lot shorter than the auto, resulting in about 4mpg less for the manual (US highway figures). I would like to see some performance figures for the auto - hope it's not too slow :o
  18. Legal or not, I think you'll find it's impossible (unless you pilot a "Bird of Prey") ← Really? So they don't work then? Not that I break the speed limits of course!! ← Sorry, I was having a laugh at "cloaking device". Jammers (aka garage door openers) do work but ain't legal.
  19. Legal or not, I think you'll find it's impossible (unless you pilot a "Bird of Prey")
  20. I think the same warning lamp is also used for low brake fluid warning.
  21. I really don't agree with that. With a four wheel alignment done and decent boots, I find the IS to be very planted and certainly not skittish. That's with both the standard and sport suspension setup.
  22. I think it (the Accord) is generally well regarded, but I've seen several comments from owners not being able to get above the low 40s mpg-wise, so 60 might be a bit optimistic.
  23. Auto is an option on the 250 only - pity cos I like the idea of a 220d auto.
