  3. No synchro on first gear ?? used to be the case i'm sure ... Or are we talking crash boxes here ;)
  4. Well there's a stroke of luck .... I'm sure my brother was looking for one of those :duh: And so strangely enough was my next door neighbour ! Tell you what, i'll forward it on shall i
  5. WOT ?? You mean Mark charges you all that money for a soopa doopa manifold ... then makes it out of a pile of 2nd hand bits :P
  6. Errr, i use the ski-hatch ... even without the expensive extension sack :) They do a roof bar set don't they ?? I know Thule do ...
  7. Sorry Gordy, just bought a TRD front skirt today ... You'll have to find someone els to sell yours to
  8. Not that Zee would have noticed .... He must have been completely out of it ! Hasn't even spotted that they swapped his nice IS for a knackered old cortina. :D :D
  9. UK Version 3.4 released May 2000. Maps are from late 1999 08664-50824 or 86271-15V254 I guess the first of those is the part number, not sure of the second. Couple of people have mentioned getting new CD's recently. From what Chris says, that'd be version 3.7 Anyone got the new versions part number handy ?? I'd be interested to dig around to see what deals are available
  10. Indeed you ARE the master of evil :hocus-pokus: :P :P :P
  11. Enquired about some tyres today too ... need doing soon ... 215/40x17 Bridgestone 90+vat each fitted, balanced etc ... Choice of RE040 (standard fit) or S03 pole positions ... same price. I had some S02's on my turbo mr2 ... Ripped through the 235/40x17 rears in 7k miles .... Damn that car was crazy fast Anyone tried the S03's ?? I know the mr2 crowd luv em.
  12. No Gord, mines still the 'whatever was in the compressor kit' filter. Standard celica one then i guess. If i have yours, i'll only need the colour off your car to have had ALL the parts :) 'good home' ?? me ?? are you sure ?? Go on then, give us a go with it .... B)

I asked them to check it - felt a bit too tramliney ....

Wheel alignment is not checked @ 10k. Is this what you paid for a 4 wheel CHECK or an ALIGNMENT? If this is for a check - then they saw you coming, as this is part and parcel of the 20k service, and not needed @ 10k. If this is for the alignment - then SCORE! - loads cheaper than everyone else! (including me!) Mat. 115quid was the 10k service, vat and full 4 wheel alignment. Alignment was listed seperately on the invoice at 25quid. Yes they had to make adjustments ... Yes i got the printed report showing what they'd changed etc. And YES it drove much better afterwards :)

oh.... Me ?? Toyota dealer in Ipswich ... Bit far out of the way for most people i expect :) Having alignment again + 20k service at new Ipswich Lexus centre next week ... Will make my report but i'm expecting them to be HUGELY more expensive. Just a sneaky feeling i have .... For info, my 10k service was 115quid (that includes vat and 25quid for the alignment).
  16. Catching some zee's Zzzzzzz Hang on a minute ... something odd here .... I reckon it's Harty with a Zee mask on :D
  17. Well that's a bit of a no-brainer ... Take 10 for 556quid .... that's £55.60 each B)

I've had 2 of these done ... by the same lexus / toyota dealer ... 1st on a MR2 turbo ... £65 2nd on my IS at its 10k service ... £25 Both included adjustments and a full print of before + after + tolerances. And both cases resulted in a huge improvement in handling. 90-110quid ????? Holey Moley, Zee - they must've seen you coming with the hubble telescope mate I don't doubt they're nice people - but at the cost of the shirt off your back ???
  19. Looked at Honda Accord type R and the S2000 too. Would have had the S2K but couldn't quite get within available budget. So, plumped for Impreza turbo ... then the facelift with bug eye lights ... Wowwww there !! Now disheartened, had a go in the IS which had also been on my shortlist. Managed a cracking deal so that was that ... I like it a lot .. but (and this'll get me lynched) .. if you like to 'drive' , i still think Honda is the stable to visit However, as an all rounder, and with its 6pot , goodies and looks, the IS is great. Specially with a s/c to correct its main achilles heel - bit gutless B)
  20. Be sure to check ..... Wheels - for signs of pitting ... get all 5 replaced if they are ! Clutch - try it in stop / start + crawling speed traffic for juddering. Seats - do the front ones creak ? Paint - for stone chips, the paint on these cars is rubbish ! Gearbox - as Rob mentioned, difficult gearchange ? specially when cold. Shock absorbers - known to leak / fail prematurely. I think that's the main things to watch for from memory .. Is this from a Lexus main dealer ? Get a proper warranty - at 66k it's past the manufacturers 3yr / 60k one. I'd also ask for a full alignment to be done + ask for the printed result sheet. (this is one way duff suspension is found if they can't get it withing spec) If the above are issues, make sure they're sorted BEFORE taking delivery. Easier than arguing with warranty company later about what is and isn't reasonable. Other that that, just the normal precautions for used car buying ... Did you kick the tyres to check they were ok Hope that helps.
  21. VERY sad news indeed :( I'm sure the astronauts would want the shuttle programme to continue ... Once the cause of this tragedy is known and fixed of course. Also sad that space barely makes the news except in circumstances like these. :( :( :(
  22. Is that just the bit above the waterline ?? Surely the rest is 'antifouled' to keep the seaweed and barnacles off .. And what do you paint the rudder with :arrrggg-matey:
  23. Oh is that what it's for ... I thought the 'snow' button was something to do with the climate control ... ie. cause extremely chilled precipitation from the rooflining
  24. Oh hell, now i'm for it .... Tell him to leave the knives at home please
  25. He just LOOKS that old TG (running for cover and resigned to being kicked out of chat this week)
