  1. Best wishes Si. Hope things straighten themselves out for you
  2. Let's not forget... There's law and there's justice - very different animals. We have courts of 'law'. In these places, 'justice' is rarely (if ever) considered. In fact, to my mind, having the scales of justice on display outside courts ... should render them open to prosecution under the trades descriptions act :duh: :shutit:
  3. Nov 2003 ?? Should we take that as meaning there's a new one out ??
  4. Yeah hoax... Highest premium rate is £1.50 :duh:
  5. Chuck your Slick50 in the bin Duncan - or flog it to someone you dislike ( no i don't want it :D ) It'll likely do more harm than good ... The US FTC (Federal Trade Commission) came down heavy on them for false claims. This link gives an outline of the problems... http://www.usasynthetic.com/page18.html All these types of additives could cause similar failures - Beware !! As for Oil, I've tended to use Duckhams QXR when choosing myself. It's a semi-synthetic so guess i'm with Mat on that one. First used it years ago after big probs with Castrol GTX going sludgy white. The QXR completely cured that problem so i stuck with it. Castrol... Barrr Muck :yack: Last service i had the dealer used some synthetic stuff ( texaco i think ). Tried to charge 53quid for it - told them to sod off and it instantly halved in price
  6. Errrr, Ummmm, Ahem :shutit: Latest in chat up lines Where's my coat
  7. Rear lamps look like Benz ... grafted into originals perhaps Agree about poor taste in wheels - Yak :yack:
  8. Mine was also standard engine wise apart from s/c. Also has later (silver box) sub-ecu which was supposed to help prevent meltdown. Even so, pre-cat still broke up and partially blocked exhaust. Now the bulgy bits where pre-cats were is just straight pipe - phew :D Anyway, not sure that would cause the prob at hand. My money's still on fuel relay or some bad connection (sub ecu perhaps ? ) There's a BIG box of straws out there - get clutching :zee:
  9. The UK/EU supplied cars have both boot lamps as fogs. Technically, i think you'd need to change the lamps... reflectors in a fog lamp are different from those in a brake lamp. Also, need a warning lamp visible from driving position when fogs are on. It is possible to have the lamps in the bootlid operate as both brake and fog. Some of the people here have hooked up a conversion.... Some even managed it without starting a fire Oh - nice to see someone local too :)
  10. Ok then - just one other straw outta the box .... Have you guys decatted your front pipes yet ?? If not, i'd strongly suggest doing so. They could be blocking the exhaust Not entirely sure that would cause this problem but worth a look
  11. Take care driving under low bridges
  12. Pop the brake light out - makes that part easier :duh:
  13. Oh, best people keep away then ... By the governments own guidelines it MUST be a proven accident blackspot Maybe a JCB rolled off the carriageway during construction Grrrrr cynical ?? Moi ??
  14. Just a small point. When calculating duty etc... Take cost of goods + shipping + insurance (ie - all charges up to point of uk entry) Apply duty at applicable rate and add to the total. Now add VAT to this... Yes that's right, you pay VAT on duty For example... suppose goods + shipping/insurance totals £500 Add duty at.. let's say 10% for example.. gives us £550 Now add VAT @ 17.5% to this to give a total of.. £646.25 That's basically how it works. Carrier will probly just ask for money b4 they deliver. And as Mark said, the carrier may invoice you for clearance charges too. This is for completing the formalities to clear the goods through customs. Exchange rate used will be set by customs - usually pretty fair. Hope this is of some use... Probably just confuses things further
  15. My (standard) front bumper started losing it's clearcoat lacquer. Also repainted under warranty.... Not too good a job though so gonna get it done again. Am i gonna pay?? Am i hell
  16. H a P p Y B i R t H d A y Well done Ian - another notch in the gatepost of time ... Hope Mrs Mop has seen recent posts and got you a shiny new zorst Not wishing to put a downer on things... But... You'll be 30 soon mate Right, i'm off (seething jealousy )
  17. In that case everyone should shop at TDi.... They'd get tons and tons of stuff :P Ummm, naughty ... :winky:
  18. I heard the toll for police cars with speed monitoring equipment was £10,000 per day. Still probably make huge profit for their christmas box even at that price
  19. right, for the front don't go bigger if you lower the car. The rear can be 10*19 with 265 tires I should have added ... "sizes without any body mods required". If you start going 10" wide etc, you'll need to mod arches and/or suspension.
  20. Hmmm, confused In the dark Unsure whether to feel left out or not
  21. Hmm, woz offline yesterday so belated good wishes Rob sir. Sorry to hear you're under the weather.... but ... at least it'll have prevented you getting sozzled and losing your passport
  22. If they do 8x19 with 45mm offset and with 225/35x19 tyres you'll be fine !! :D
  23. Yes - agree there... couple of strategically placed tie-wraps should do it. Nice one Duncan - welcome to the club ... Not before time i might add !!! :D
