  1. The guys that did mine also used a plastic foot on their machine. Even so, still scratched all 4 wheels all the way round so that's not an answer. Anyway, still worth following up what i said about half price replacements. That would be about 30quid a wheel for some newly refurbed ones from Lexus. If dealer doesn't know about it, refer them to Pristine... Hope that helps TG
  2. Similar happened to me - all 4 wheels though. I got them replaced and the tyre shop paid for it. Worth popping to see tyre shop boss and discussing politely imo. Sometimes better than being confrontational straight away :) Incidentally, if they've only recently been swapped for refurbs.... Pristine (who do them for Lexus) will swap them again for half price. This aplies up to 12 months from replacement if memory serves.
  3. Mine had the plate plastic coated to the mesh in the way Mat describes. Changed the mesh - that got rid of it :)
  4. Not from the look of that picture it won't. Doesn't have the required bits for the mounting of the compressor cradle. And will the vertical cradle tube fit between No.1 and 2 pipes ? Mark... i told you....
  5. Friedel is going to Japan this weekend but they're looking at it ... Gerald is coming over to JAE... I expect he's been informed too.
  6. I wonder how many lb's one can inhale . . . . . . . . . . . Challenge Bazza :duh:
  7. Paid, registered, announced intention etc etc.... Must have taken a bloody hour filling in all the JAE threads :duh: PS: fri + sat + sun
  8. I'm sure Friedel will do his best to help Chris - specially as they fitted it. You have silver ecu i seem to remember - me too... I know from experience it gently backs off the throttle rather than abrupt cut. Given it's only 50rpm below stock cut, difficult to see on rev counter though. If it would help, i'd volunteer my car to demonstrate what it does to Lexus. Pretty sure they'd take advise from TTE over that though... Surely the onus should be on them to prove it DID cause the problem. With the number of cars similarly equipped, might prove difficult. My guess is bottom end cap bolt sheared causing failure.
  9. I'm bringing gennys too... but only coz they're attached so i can't very well leave them behind
  10. Had a trial tent pitching sesion last week so i'm ready. Got a single gas cooker thingy too + spare canisters - bet it never get's used :) Also bringing shortie wetsuit etc in case we finally do the jet-ski's !!
  11. Finally confirmed time off work so.... Put me down for friday, saturday and sunday.... Think i'll skip thursday this year if that's ok :duh:
  12. Ooh, me me me... just me...
  13. Cold galv + hi temp anti friction pls m8 :)
  14. Are you sure £150 wasn't for outright sale - ie you keep the old wheels too ?? Dealers supply on 'exchange' basis for £85 + vat per wheel (mine does anyway). On top of that, they may or may not charge a fit / balance fee... fiver maybe ? Alternatively, find a local pristine agent - they refurb the wheels for lexus. The same wheels on an exchange basis from prisitine are £60+vat each. If they corrode again within 12 months, they'll redo them for free. Also, if you scuff them etc within 12 months, they'll redo for 1/2 price. Hope that helps B)
  15. I maybe got lucky then ... Renewal with CIS is 25quid down on last year to about 800. Tried Lexus, they said 400 and something.... AND that included a 30% loading for compressor etc :) Asked for specimen policy to compare what's what ... Also called Liverpool + Victoria. They said 500 odd + charged no extra for mods. Said keep photos / receipts. Called back to check if protected ncd and got different person. Then was told no can't cover coz of mods. Recent change of rules apparently. Must say having been with CIS from late 80's, i'm loathed to change now. No probs with claims i've had and seem ok to cover whatever i get - for a price :) But, be interesting to see how the Lexus policy compares - and who runs it.
  16. Leo is the owner of the IS pictured... and Nemesis itself i believe...
  17. SABOTAGE !! From someone who felt Chris would beat them to 'best car' at JAE :duh:
  18. I'm not a big fan of bodykits but i do like this one. Seen this car in the flesh a number of times and like it a lot. Having said that, i'm with the majority on disliking the rear wing. Veilside one not much better. Neither really flow with the rest of the kit. Maybe an exagerated version of the standard 'sport' lip would be better ? Preferred it before the eye lids too... never have liked those things. Do like the mini switchgear in the centre console... Fits in very well. yemqi - yes the original kit was built around egoist bumpers. The arches aren't the wald ones though .. Now putting on my club cynic hat for a moment B) Big tyres, lots of grip.... very useful while it's pushed / towed / trailered around :P Building a race car so no PS, ABS, A/C, Traction etc ... Hmmm, sounds like some difficulties in interfacing with stock ecu's ?? Nice looking kit though - best i've seen by a long shot. And down from £2250 to £1000 too... (think 2250 included bonnet though) ... If only the fitting costs weren't such a big ouch :duh:
  19. Crikey That's dreadful news Chris Shout if i can help in any way mate... though not quite sure how Do i detect a collective ring tightening from all *** owners
  20. If you're outside Lexus warranty, you can still get Lexus refurb wheels. Ask your local dealer. £85 each on an exchange basis if that's any use. Obvious advantage is you're not without wheels while they're refurbed.
  21. Had an egg hit my front wing leaving an odd pattern in the paint. I was surprised at the damage but i s'pose an egg shell is basically made of grit. Anyway, quick blow over didn't completely fix it so having a repaint.
