  1. Drew, you have to go through the DVD menu on the touch screen.

I think it's behind "menu" or "info", then DVD and there should be a "eject" button.

BTW, when mine was in for maintenance I got a replacement and the 4-DVD box 2007-2008 was in the glove box. No need to say that I took all discs for a spin in my computer if you know what i mean ;-)

There were 4 discs: Europe North, Europe West, Europe East and a Lexus Maintenance (or was it Evaluation) disc.

  2. I've had a 9-3 built '99 (not a sport sedan though) and afterall Saab has been a bad experience: the buttons break of the dashboard when your turn them, I've had numerous technical problems with it... Basically the first three years were good but then after that things went from bad to worse. I will never drive a Saab again. The looks of the Sport Sedan are great, but that won't do it for me anymore...

Proud IS220D Standard (+17") leaser, but my next car will be a IS220D Executive (new gear box, drive is more "natural").

    Edit:

Rich Bee, "pretty much the whole car being replaced bit by bit" : sounds very familiar.

  3. Sorry if I'm repeating something that was already posted here (in that case just delete this thread).

Had my car in for 30K km maintenance yesterday.

They gave me a free replacement car for the day (standard procedure here).

Mine is a standard SE, the replacement was a luxury edition (called Executive here).

When I drove off, I immediately felt the difference in gear ratios.

It was not a Sport model, so it SHOULD have had the same ratios.

But I could easily use 6th at 120km/h (which is - my guess approx. - 80mph?)

Afterwards, they told me that in the new version of the Executive (LE) they put in a different gear box from now on. But not in the standard (SE).

  4. I forgot something:

    - Go sit in the passenger seat

    - Lock all doors using the button at the driver's side

    - Turn on the power (one push on the start button)

    - Get out of the car by opening the door, keep the key fob in your pocket and close the door (don't lock)

Now try to get in at the driver's side...

  5. Try to solve this puzzle:

    - Go sit in the passenger seat

    - Lock all doors using the button at the driver's side

    - Get out of the car by opening the door, keep the key fob in your pocket and close the door (don't lock)

The car will beep and you will see the message "key not detected"

Now try to get in at the driver's side...

  6. Is there a way to turn off the car and keeping the Bluetooth connection?

I often find myself arriving at my destination when being on the phone with someone. I cannot turn off the car because that would drop the connection. A little bit an annoying problem to have to leave the car on for another say 15 minutes when parked. The other alternative is to call back the other person. A bit stupid, no?

  7. About the mpg, I can confirm this (posted it in another thread a couple of weeks ago): it's as if it gets a better mpg "suddenly" after about 4000 miles.

I went from 7.5 litres/100km to 6.5 litres/100 km without really drastically changing my driving style.

I also have to admit I am addicted to the car... we'll have to start a "A"LOC and have meetings about our addiction.

Hi, my name is Koen and I am addicted to Lexus. *applause*

  8. News on the subject:

Found this interesting thread on Club Lexus:

    thread on sat nav destination

So could not being able to change nav dest in Europe be a problem of the software version and NOT something that is disabled in Europe?

What could only mean that we have (had) a more recent software-version than in the U.S. since the beginning of the 2nd-gen IS...

If so, that's good news i guess, because like they say... there must be a way...

  9. Easiest way, find a friend with a Sony Ericsson, use SE Suite or this http://www.fjsoft.at/, import all the contacts to the SE from Outlook, bluetooth them all in one go from the SE to the car.

No idea why Nokia don't have this option.

Great tip. I had an old T68 somewhere, took it from under its dust :-)

Could send the address book all-in-once. I've noticed that even this "old" T68 sends more info to the handsfree unit than my (newer) Nokia. Battery status, network status, ... So I'll keep using this T68 from now on...

  10. Of course, they are sh***ing their pants because Lexus is truly quality and eventually they might lose respect in favor of Lexus.

That's why they have to try to convince the public (who doesn't know Lexus that well) that Lexus is just a Toyota (when they have nothing objective to say).

You can read it in any "general" forum. Again and again. Everytime a thread is started about Lexus, the jerry's-and-friends are criticising the Lex (mostly with cliché stuff).

So, from my point of view, these people are not truly car fanatics, because they FIRST look at the badge, and then they say either positive or negative things about it. It's just about being Japanese or European... A Jap is always bad, a European is always superb. Maybe they ought to test the car first without knowing which brand it is and then put their comments on paper. But hey, who can blame them for being patriotic?

This is what works for me: if you have a brain and you have to make a choice between bmw and Lexus, and you want to make that choice "objective", you'll probably go for the Lex. More value for money.

  11. Eight months and 11000 miles.

Collected the car on July 7th; 1 month and a week later I have 9200 km = approx. 5716 miles. I just love it.

Noticed that after 4900 miles I started to have a better mileage.

If I calculated and converted everything well, then I have these numbers:

From the beginning 'till 4900 miles I had 31.36 mpg

After 4900 miles (and some calmer driving) I started to have 35.11 mpg

The car gets looser and looser, the gears are getting smoother...

    I JUST LOVE IT !!!!

  12. Hi Loc'ers,

Picking my IS250 SE Auto Argento Ice up today........woohoo...its a preregistered car (Jan 06) and its only done 6 miles so I'm well chuffed...

Had a quick query on the Ipod aux - do they provide a connection cable with the car or do I need to go out and get one? And if so, whats a good one to buy and where from?

    cheers

Get the iPod one and while you're in the apple shop buy the charger as well...it is one of the few that fit in the auxilary socket and allows closure of the arm rest.

Which charger is it that fits the iPod and allows closure of the arm rest? I am off to Birmingham at the weekend and can pop into the apple shop while there.

    iGo car charger on Expansys

Very handy and can be used for all kinds of devices...

  13. Hi, has anyone experienced an idle RPM of 1200 from cold, my 220d does this from time to time. When it does it it stays at 1200 until the engine is at normal running temp, which I find strange as on other occasions it idles below 1000rpm which I think is normal. Phoned Lexus Glasgow about it who said they would look at it but didn't think anything could be done.

Also noticed that when it happens my mpg sems to be 3 to 4 mpg lower on the same trip.

    Cheers

    Russ :o

I think it's normal to have a slightly higher rev of 1200 when still warming up, I suppose. After a while mine goes down somewhere to 800.
