after washing the lex today, i noticed that the drivers side front and back electric windows have vertical scratches on the outside of the glass.
has anyone else noticed this problem?
Hi,
The short answer is 'yes'. I never noticed them before. ( 2 months in to ownership) Drivers side only like you !
Not sure what to do about it ?
Just thought I'd let you know. (:-)
Cheers

No your right, just wait till you think you are getting a brand new car and you dont. Any way Lexus have lost a customer who had the old model
is 200 and the is 250 for 9 years wont be buying another car from Lexus.
I do agree with you mate, when you're promised something and they don't deliver it's a big disappointment, and the "no harm done" attitude from Lexus GB is unacceptable imho.
They should at least be a little apologetic, and I personally feel that the dealership should offer you the same price on a new one in 3 months time.........
Thought Lexus GB would have apoligised and had a word with the dealer, but the said nothing happened. But I buy two new cars in 9 years they
buy high numbers every month. What happened to the customer is always right!
-
On the original topic, I think it's unfortunate, a bit of messing around there, but I don't think it's that big a deal, I agree with Mat.
As for that IS250 F-Sport, well that is stunning! I want one!

ah that clears that up
problem you will have is that any new/facelifted model will hold a premium over its superseded model
in theory now until december is when to pick up the bargain "older" models
NO new models left in UK

Was promised car pre-registered car Sept 1st with no miles 2009 facelift model with change to exterior lights, mirrors etc which has been on promotoion.
Attempted to sell me 2005 model which I own already!
Then offered me new 2010 model for Dec delivery with no gaurantee for price of trade in
If you have it somewhere in writing and proof of the advert you can have the dealers under trades descriptions under mis-selling for promoting and subsequently selling you a vehicle, but later trying to supply you something other than was advertised, you can pretty much make them offer you the 'correct' car at the original price because thats what you were sold providing you have proof that they were trying to sell you the new model.
Everything was done verbally,
But they had the car from Monday, wrong model which I was going to pick up Thursday.
It is miss-selling but since it didn't happen according to Lexus it is in my opinion that they tried to miss-sell.
The money was in my account to pay and if I had been called away offshore to work my wife would have signed for the car
as she would have been unaware of the difference!

You ordered the car from the dealer, the dealer is an agent for Lexus GB, your gripe, is with the dealer, not lexus Gb, unless they supplied the wrong car to the dealer, have you seen the order form from dealer to lexus GB
I will never know who did what, but it stinks as no more cars available in country of the type so would have to pay at least 3 grand more for new model.
-
im not really understanding your gripe, other than the basics, of
you ordered car, and paid deposit
wrong model year turned up, you got deposit back
im not seeing how your gripe is with Lexus GB, its the dealer that specified the car, id check that they did actually order a 2009 car
My gripe is they attempted to sell me the wrong car, i did not think Lexus UK would like their brand name associated with this kind of dealings

Ordered new car 2009 model on Thursday 3rd September, spoke about facelift exterior and new model due at motor show which is all interior differences
apart from new colour available. Paid deposit to garage, car was going to arrive Friday but arrived Monday. Was promised pictures Monday none came,
Tuesday was salesman day off, got pictures on e-mail Wednesday afternoon opened e-mail to tea time to dicover it was 2005 model same car as I own.
Was due to drive three hours Thursday morning for car. Phoned garage was offered deposit back immediately, obviously they didn't notice it was old model when arrived on the Monday! Explained I wasnt happy and was offered a deal on brand new model due for release subject to value of my car in three months time. Explained that this was costing me so much more that I wasn't interested.
Phoned Lexus UK who told me that I hadnt lost anything the sale did not go ahead, ONLY BECAUSE I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE if my wife had pcked up the car she would have signed for it.
Lexus uk customer service very unhelpful, I now have my deposit back and after being lexus owner for 9 years I am disgusted whith they way this situation was dealt with, I thought Lexus uk would have been more helpful.
Big guy wins again.!

I have a new seat and a new cover but still looks as though elephant has satt on seat as it has two buttock indentations.
Anybody else have this problem?
-
My IS is tow years old and this will be our third seat cover, neither myself or my wife weigh 10 Stone. It looks like our
arse is indented into driver seat, it looks great!!!!!!!
-
I picked up a my IS250SE and about 2 weeks later the drivers seat started to squeak. The squeak got really bad and so I took it back. Lexus said it was the seat frame but to disassemble the seat and rebuild it would come close to the cost of a new seat so they would order me a new seat. However, as the cost of the seat was over the £1000 a dealer can automatically fit, it had to go to Lexus UK for them to authorise. Lexus UK authorised the seat and I have had a complete new drivers seat fitted. I asked how much the seats were out of curiosity and they cost a cool £4500!!!!
So £9K just for 2 front seats? Allow maybe 3k for the back bench with armresties and stuff - total just for the seats - 12K almost half the price of the whole car....something tells me the stealers are telling porkies??
.... don't forget £15k for the MLS
New seat that was installed has went exactly the same way indentation in middle, they are going to look at it next service!

I had for sets of alloy on my old IS which Ihad for five years from new, My one year old new IS 250 is about to get a new set of alloys. Whats it all about?
-
I put a thread on about a year ago about soft / scratchy paint and was told talking rubbish, my car is a year old past Jan and polished it last week and although nice all the chips are full of polish it is definetely substandard compared to my last IS. Although the alloys are the same standard as about to get other ones after one winter!
-
My car ic caterbury blue wth lots of suface scratches and white chips!! That is what I was thimking, that the paint must be mega soft, anybody approached dealers with complaint.
-
Anybody else unhappy with new is250 paintwork, i have three chips on bonnett which are through to white, never happened on is200 is the paintwork not so good on new car. Any thoughts?
-
Cheers for that. but was looking for feed back to see if anybody thought some paintwork problem as read somewhere a guyy's wife was laughing at all that money for rattles and crap paint!
Well in my experience the paint on the new IS is very weak. I have the Cadoxton Slate, and it too scratches easily and exposes fine white undercoat at the mearest of brush pasts or door bangs.
Also, my paintwork has been seriously damaged by bird crap. :tsktsk: The roof has many scars and the passenger door is marked by acid damage from bird muck. I spoke to the dealer who said it is not covered under warranty and I should call their bodyshop for a quote for a full body buff.
Not bloody likely ! They are part of the SmithKnightFay group, expensive and cow boys.
I have just purchased a pack of Quixx polish and will try to polish out one of the marks to see if that works.
I have had a Lexus IS200 Sport (Met Blue) from new for 3 years and never had these problems. Parked the car under the same tree, same bird muck (well same feeding area & birds species), and no such damage seen.
Conclusion: The new IS paintwork is rubbish !! Weak and not fit for purpose. A bit like the old IS original wheels and lacquer... Lexus had to replace these for the UK market, after many complaints of early corrosion.
I will have to contact my dealer as that is the same problem, buy they will probably say wear and tear but i will mention this site as this looks as though it is a problem and if there is enough complaints they might do something about it.

:) Wll done Lexus Aberdeen car picked up and returned to door, with new seat fitted. First class service after initial problem.
:D

I dont think they can order complete seat.... seat consists of 100 different parts they would have to order, so i really dont see an problem with them ordering "only foam and covers".
They can order a complete seat as the garage would have rather done that than try to repir it . Will they be able to make it like it was never repaired! We will see but first time was not done very well at all.

Hi,
Does anyone own a brechin slate with grey interior leather?
Are you pleased or do you have regrets?
I have a few days to reconsider my order and have been unable to see in the flesh.
Would appreciate thoughts.
Very nearly! I have the Brechin with the beige interior and am very pleased.
I think the lighter colours lift the interior and provide a nice contrast. My only concern is how long I'll manage to keep it clean! I've already switched the light-coloured mats for a set of black ones - though I think the grey already has darker mats and footwells? Other than that, it's holding up very nicely to marks and scuffs (though I have bought a bottle of Autoglym Interior Shampoo that works a treat).
As for outside, I love the Brechin - in my opinion it's subtle and classy. Easy to keep clean too!
Thanks Romaro,
I was sure about the Brechin slate looking classy.
It was the interior that bothered me. Black seemed dark for a smallish interior and it did not offer the two tone effect on the doors and dashboard. Beige looked good but I read all the queries about keeping it clean. Hence my choice of grey. But I couldn't see that combo!!!
I have grey leather an it looks great had a loan of one with black and glad i went for grey its much nicer especailly with the contrast of canterbury blue

Will not purchase Lexus, and would highly recommend Lexus Aberdeen which I used for 9 years.
Both salesman and service manager bent over backwards continually to help.
