  1. My JDM 2004 Celsior was converted from air to springs before I purchased it and the ride and handling seems fine to me. The kit (LS430) came from the company below and they do supply 2 kits for the LS460 depending on 2 or all wheel drive set up. As Phil mentions there are differences in the suspension between the LS430 and LS460 and the latter was designed as air only so no guarantee you would have the same results as me but the strut quality is very good and USA manufactured. Also take into account the additional shipping and VAT costs which will push you towards £1200.00! https://www.strutmasters.com/suspension-parts/lexus/lexus-ls-460/2009-lexus-ls-460
  2. VSC codes can be flagged by a few causes from a faulty fuel tank filler cap seal to an O2 sensor, have you tried disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes to reset the ECU then see if the codes clear ?
  3. Yep code would be present, thought it was 1345?
  4. Have you located the cruise control ECU as it may have manufacturer details on it for reference to obtain service information. There must also be an actuator connected somewhere between the pedal and throttle body. LHD, Aftermarket cruise control.......yikes! Good luck.
  5. Part number as below, you could try pushing the bonnet down a few times to bounce the latch get someone to pull the release lever at the same time. There are also 2 micro filters which supply the oil pressure to operate the VVTI solenoids, if they get blocked ( not a service item BTW) they can cause timing issues resulting in a code and an EML.
  6. They look correct and half the Lexus price, not sure why there should be 2 colour options though, OEM are always silver. I would ask where they are made first! Don’t Bigg Red also do the fitting kits, I know they do the pistons, seals, slide pins and bellows for mine. Amayama have them if you can wait a while for shipping.
  7. Not living in London and rarely visiting unless changing trains at St.Pancras for Gatwick Airport most of my knowledge of street names came from playing Monopoly. Having seen Park Lane as the second most expensive on the board with Mayfair I always assumed that Lexus Park Lane was on there along with visions of grandeur no other dealer could possibly offer. Driving in there to be greeted at the grand entrance by a person wearing white gloves and a tip of the hat before guiding me to a parking bay in order to collect my £1.75 oil sump plug washer from the red carpeted reception area or even have it brought out to my car. Turns out it is in Battersea “ near the railway station” and miles away from my imagined location, so far away in fact they are now called Battersea Lexus. No complimentary silver service afternoon tea then even around 3.00 pm. Apparently it does get busy at certain times of the day so timing is crucial to avoid a queue for the coffee service. 😀
  8. With a trader you do have better consumer protection should anything go wrong with the car in the first 6 months on a retail sale, things like “Sold as seen no warranty given or implied” are not allowed and do not override your statutory rights. Also depends on the asking price. With a sketchy service history all you can really do is either check it yourself, pull the dipstick is the oil clean, is the filter new, check every button and switch for function or pay the likes of the AA or RAC for an inspection. Has the windscreen been fixed or replaced? My betting is it will have at least one odd tyre on it. At the end of the day if you are unsure walk away.
  9. Not really much to go on just checking an MOT history, plenty of advisories for tyres suggesting the owner at the time never checked them regularly or even before an MOT so what else did they scrimp on.....”brake pads wearing low” a worn out wiper blade and multiple parking brake inefficiency remarks are not good signs of a caring owner. What’s the service history like? Mileage is reasonable for the age though. Finally is this a private sale or trader?
  10. Did you not get any pictures Matt? It would have been interesting to see the damage before and after repair. Any hint from the garage as to the initial cause of the failure?
  11. No problem, have a look through the complete list to see if you want anything else changing while it’s in. Most dealers will do them FOC as a gesture of goodwill and future business.
  12. We could organise a Derbyshire mini meet to discuss and exchange mats 😀
  13. A very nice and comprehensive reply Len. 😀 As mentioned it does sound like a duff cat and when you do get the bad egg smell it usually means there is no cure apart from replacement (there are various potions like Cataclean which claim to clean the cat but never used them personally). Taking the car for a good high speed run holding low gears for higher RPM can burn out the contaminants but be aware it generates a lot of heat ( they have been known to glow red) so take care where you park afterwards and be aware of any fire risks. You mentioned you only purchased the car recently was this privately or from a motor trader? If the latter you do have statutory consumer rights should the car develop faults in the first 6 months.
  14. Section 7 on the link below shows the option for locking/unlocking bleeps, typically earlier Lexus models had a simple “volume control” mounted under the driver’s side kick pad to adjust the level or turn if off. https://di-uploads-development.dealerinspire.com/lexusofnashville/uploads/2019/07/2018-NX-300h-With-Nav.pdf
  15. I usually find one fairly local then offer to remove, collect and pay cash....that generally gets the price down. If you think a £60.00-£70.00 radio is expensive try a genuine Front Upper Control Arm at £521.00. 😀
  16. Have a look on fleabay or drop Paul Frost at Lexussparesdirect an email.
  17. Providing the radio unit has a conventional aerial socket you can fit a “Frequency Changer” This little device moves the Japanese FM frequencies up electronically into the UK band of 88-108Mhz. Just google it and you’ll find them. The only downside is the radio display will show the incorrect frequency but still pretty easy to find what you want by listening.
  18. Have you managed to open the boot with the key? I would try Lexus first for a battery, the AA replaced my stop/start Vauxhall Vivaro one at around the £200.00 mark due to the type.
  19. If you have Lexus Recovery the problem then becomes theirs not yours, there has to be a way even if it means them getting underneath to access the bonnet release to get to the electrics.
  20. Not sure if this is correct but apparently you need to turn the mechanical lock with the key and pull the door handle at the same time.
  21. AA/RAC/Lexus Assist ? The locking system needs vehicle power to operate the door lock motors but there has to be a way to access the car if the battery is flat.
