Hi George, I assume it’s the same from both the driver’s master switch and individual switches? I think the door interior panel will have to come off to investigate further, with the clicking it would indicate a relay is operating so you have some power but first check fuses 4 and 6 in the passenger side fuse box (see photo) as there are individual fuses for the rear windows. From there it could be a faulty motor or jammed mechanism.

Hi Erik, As I previously suggested the photographs confirm the oil leak is coming from the valve cover(s) gaskets which have failed. If you have some basic tools I also provided a link on how to DIY the job yourself. I think I paid £140.00 for this set of staggered 18” IS250C wheels last June.

Is the Lexus priced firmly fixed? Can you not check out price comparison sites then go back to Lexus and tell them “Compare the Lexus.com” are cheaper perhaps?

I wouldn’t worry about the spare wheel, I have had one puncture in 16 years. I certainly wouldn’t even attempt to change a tyre on any roadside these days purely from a safety point of view, just get yourself safe, call the breakdown operator and wait.

Lexus cars are notorious for “ sticking or seized” brake callipers as the slide pins rarely get removed and greased ( not even a dealer service item). First check is to carefully feel if one side wheel is getting hotter than the other after a drive both front and rears.

Which ones, the cowl clips? Not sure on the diagram but around a quid each from Lexus. Quite surprised on the windscreen cost at around £300.00 from Lexus given their prices.

Is the tow bar already fitted? Reason I ask is the loom from it may still be attached but tuck away under the car, the grommet near the boot connector looks like the original entry point. Other than that if you have a multimeter you could find out which wire does what inside the boot connector by switching on the rear lights, brake lights etc and look for the 12 volts being present.

I also watched that, I was only 7 back in 1966 and cannot remember watching the match on TV back then which would have been black and white of course but I can remember collecting the Esso coins as my Dad worked at a garage. To see the complete match in colour for the first time was lovely especially with no adverts every 12 minutes on a commercial channel and being in colour as we didn’t have colour TV in the UK until 1969. What I did notice was there was no “set plays” so if a player got the ball they were off towards the other goal with no back passing like today to get all the players in the “planned” positions. It was literally end to end football with players actually running up and down the pitch for 120 minutes. The nearest they got to any treatment was pulling their socks down because of cramp. No Academy awards for being pushed over, rolling in “agony” then after failing to get a free kick to spring straight back up. If they went down they got back up, brushed themselves down and continued to play. I can’t even remember seeing a substitution on either side. The commentators... no in game analysis every time the ball is passed just the name of the player who received the ball leaving the viewer to enjoy the game instead of constant unrequested piffle. We’ve gone from 22 footballers on maybe £100.00 a week to 22 millionaire celebrities kicking a bag of wind around a pre planned field. Give me that 1966 match anytime above the computerised game of today.

Another interchangeable item are the speedo and tachometer, the PCBs mounted on the “motors” are marked speed and tacho but can be swopped by lifting the 4 flat lugs then gently pulling off the motor, they are literally plug in to the boards. The needle motors themselves are weird in design, they are 4 pole sinusoidal drive on an X Y axis.......whatever happened to a rotating cable drive!

Sorry Howard didn’t notice that you had already tried that company, regarding capacitor failure the only one I can see from your pictures that is possibly defective is the largest one situation to the top right of the orange socket, guessing here but maybe 470uf 25V. If you compare it to the others the plastic sleeving has shrunk exposing the top fully indicative of overheating and increased ESR.

2029.....just renewed my driving licence again for 10 years but will only last until 2029 when the 3 year renewal begins for me. Getting old ain’t no fun.

Hello Rafael and welcome to the LOC According to the MOT requirements there is no specific check that the speedo is in miles or KMs so I would assume from that it is legal to drive a car with a KM only speedo in the UK. MOT testers tend to assume the odometer is in miles but as I mentioned mine has been stated as KMs a couple of times.
