Cheers for that update Paul, must be the fact we have such clean air over here in the UK🤔

Hi Phil and welcome to the LOC There is a filter shown, no price given but around $8.00 in the USA so double that then add 20% for UK prices 😀 Part and number highlighted.

It is difficult to price any car there are a couple of similar offerings on fleabay at the moment and the prices are averaging out to around £2K. You mention there is little recent service history, I’m guessing the oil and filters have been replaced regularly during your ownership but what about other servicing requirements particularly the cam belt. You are welcome to advertise the car on the LOC following the rules in the “Cars for Sale” section. P.S. hiding your registration plate prevents potential purchasers from checking the MOT history, performing other checks in consideration and poses little if any risk to the seller.

I think there is an option on fleabay where the price is automatically reduced on a weekly basis until it reaches a set minimum amount. In this case the minimum is probably £500.00 and from there a “Best Offer” will be considered. I also noticed that the other showroom import with 12,500 miles now has a “reserved” strap on the picture at £10.995. Just glad I bought mine when I did.

I would think the battery disconnect is for safety reasons, it is always recommended to do this before any electrical work but provided the ignition switch is off there wouldn’t be a problem just pulling a plug but remember to reconnect before powering up the car again. As for the cabin filter I pinched this from out sister site.

The outer rubber boot on the strut is not fully airtight it is a dust cover, any leaks from the strut seals would not show using LPF or soapy water on it. New struts as you are already aware are expensive, secondhand may or may not last plus even those are attracting premium prices now. Mine had already been converted to springs, which given if one has begun to fail the others tend to follow, is a reasonably cost effective longer term solution. I think there are also aftermarket coil over kits available too. I think for now continue to monitor the situation, if the car continues to drop lower overnight and the suspension takes longer than present times to fully inflate then further action will be needed. It’s unlikely to completely fail leaving you stranded but has now fired a warning shot across the bow.

An interesting and informative article linked below, in the comments section I do feel somewhat sorry for “Jon” and his BMW. https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/does-seller-declare-damage/ -

Price drop alert.....the 15k 1994 has been reduced again to £8000.00, the seller must be slowly recovering from reality failure 😀 -
They stopped the race because of a bit of fog......was the radar cruise control disconnected 😀😀😀😀😀. ”I hit a tyre wall” sounds so much better than an errant Tesco trolley. Nice video 😀

Hello and welcome to the LOC. There are still some bargains out there then and yours looks better than the 15K offering on topic at the moment, MOT history all looks good, brake pipes replaced a few years back and cam belt replaced so no worries there. Almost a 1997 model. Get those arches cleaned out to help stop the rot and with regular serving the mileage is nothing for these engines.- 10 replies

Another member had similar last week, it turned out to be the disc shield touching the disc plus sometimes stones get stuck between them. Get the car off the ground, spin the wheels and listen for usual noises, place your hands at at the 9 and 3 position and check for any movement when pull/pushing repeat at the 12 and 6 o’clock position.

When you say you cleaned the vents/filters under the rear seat did you actually remove them and do this? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WNo-VXJSg7s From what I have read 40-60 degrees is normal operating temperature, obviously everything is computer controlled so if the temperature did exceed the safe level I feel you would get a warning for check hybrid system and a code. There are 3 fans located within the battery pack so some dismantling to get to them for cleaning plus the HV danger aspect of the job.

Personally I would buy the bottom one as it includes other parts which you might as well change at the same time, the spark plug seals prevent oil from leaking also and are easy to replace while the covers are off.

Foot well lights on

Even on my old 1994 Celsior/LS400 there are illuminated rings around the door key locks, ignition key and the interior lights illuminate when you lift up the driver’s door handle. The 2004 model illuminates the mirror lights and interior lights as you approach the car plus it even talks to me in a sensual female Japanese voice when I start the engine, I must pop down to the Toyota factory in Derby to find out what she is saying to me.
