  1. Hi Adam and welcome to the LOC. That car amongst others is being discussed on another post presently, it looks like you have done pretty well finding that example. I’ve recently acquired an immaculate 2004 model year Toyota Celsior (the Japanese badged version of the LS430) from another member. Good luck with your purchase.
  2. Looks good to me 😀 What does windscreen insurance cover me for? ‘Windscreen’ cover includes all windows and not just the one most people refer to as ‘the windscreen’ (i.e. the big one at the front!), often including sun-roofs. It means you can recoup the cost of having to replace the glass, or simply repair what’s damaged and return it to its original state. Whether a full replacement is needed or a repair to a chip or crack will suffice depends on how much damage there is. https://blog.policyexpert.co.uk/insurance-revealed/windscreen-cover-explained/
  3. Robert, these are the OEM belt kits, even with shipping and taxes they are very cheap. Gee sorry about the link size! https://www.ebay.com/itm/294069778955?fits=Model%3ARX400h|Make%3ALexus&epid=80998156&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4477ecba0b:g:MXQAAOSwALxgUk3K&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACkPYe5NmHp%2B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsShRHxq6A69bx76cdn9aiJ%2Fxa1Aa%2BuQbFccRb2W26T%2FVZ9emgyZlFmJuZgX%2FuJn0ScfE8IYYL5PFmz%2BFKQxFrniSWImRLyKI1wv%2BGJ8RjZpx1uTvkKPC%2Ff34VGqqGNALBXJaO4UNU41rfGAApAHNVBxPrWg74CaezIqitofGXk6arWD55AjP8CxnIKVxVpcJOhjFbCmnk7Pob3D%2Bt5Xlu%2BNwJJgHsTZIcOkaYefBn8kLdOoIP6R4lQnjNb1%2BGwrbrgLh5vcQDqWSDkV3KFk4BxOO26nlMH%2FGJ3D%2BIfPevDxUcxIJU0G7R6BqErPbDvH6F7%2FXGkHkUpeobLf%2B4GnLJeSjaBXGRDded7e2fKSpOw%2FldyM7jqQsoJbSq%2FnpN1HTz10CNWMfdMP%2FWE4WKFOnUGBpdc%2BBhbS%2FQja0u%2F6QkNd9Sun4aq2ebHxmVnsskGUQ00%2BBYksFrAUj0YNuyBMaqTC3ZCQ9ZTqxOI4MReWzO6pN9%2ByEx77F2FDb28yo13449L15dHOFpWiDaX0RulT77vH7XsWArJ4wjx3B5mD%2F7GjHkGYUyGc7Jcs6nrmAB2%2FcsHZRmBV29CGNOYfOo56M2CRpF0XOjHIaDjEQoMxc24hw7r%2BKiQakuk8BaEkjg4QIUOuWuCWSG8ydPBvdzEYh9a%2FGINlQecyt8gQtWuFcnci54UxbuXP3V%2BF3XbMxjUZyLi8vIVEI%2BRm9E3MBvGTmC%2F4%2FnzqZL4iJ1q9E%2Bo2GgI%2BPMR9Iqp6wL4RpJf%2F2OWMWliw5LJ5d5wF4lr%2BlyZCqw5QM2mSM4V1yvBG3TGiAvNSaCCKgSVHfH%2F8iUMJxpJAeET|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2499334
  4. The B pillar trim comes in 2 pieces at around £150.00 each! How is the scrapyard search going 😀
  5. No problem, many mechanics ask for cam locking tools but they aren’t absolutely necessary. As long as the cams and crank markings are all aligned and remain aligned when the engine is rotated by hand all will be good. The only thing to make sure is done correctly is if the camshaft oil seals are replaced, the cam actuator bolts need very careful checking for correct torque.
  6. Hi Daniel and welcome to the LOC. I’m not aware of any special tool required, ensure all the timing marks are aligned, fit the belt then pull the auto tensioner lock pin. Turn the engine over by hand then recheck timing marks again.
  7. I like the “lifetime” guarantee which further on is “10 years” Does this guy realise how long these cars last😀
  8. Also bear in mind the fleabay offering is coming from Germany so be prepared for possible shipping delays and custom charges. Plus if it doesn’t fit what then?
  9. Hi David and welcome to the LOC. Car should have failed MOT with a missing wheel nut and unless you had other work carried out at the same time there is no reason to remove the wheel. Probably going to be Lexus dealer for just the one but this will probably cost you as much as a complete set, you often see them on fleabay new and used.
  10. For the second time my iPad Air decided to die completely, the last time around 2 years ago I had it repaired but this time I purchased a new one ( even this proved difficult with even Apple having a 2-4 week delivery time). Open box and power up and this is where the problems began.....Apple ID? Hmmm that’s on the dead iPad....20 minutes later I managed to get it from my PC...password?....No chance....”I forgot.com” ....”We have sent recovery instructions to your other iPad”....No good it’s dead. ”We have sent you a text with a code to your trusted mobile number” Great enter code.....”please enter your old passcode” Yea I know that...”You have entered an incorrect code” No I haven’t ...”Yes you have, you will now have to wait 24 hours for account verification” 24 hours later I get a text .........you will be able to access your account in 2 days! I’m now getting some paper, a pen and a safe for my passwords.
  11. So the rest of the cluster is working just the MID out? I have no diagrams but would think the power to the cluster is common to both sections.
  12. My 1994 LS400 has been pinged and told to self isolate for 10 days apart from essential journeys. I’m a little worried about the 2004 as it’s parked less than 2 metres away from it. 😀
  13. £4100 now with 5 days to go, it will get bid to £10K again and reappear 3 days later due to another (or even the same) flea bay waster.
  14. Have you checked the throttle position sensor, does it move freely ( when the fault shows up try lifting the pedal up from behind and see if the idle speed drops indicating it is not returning up fully). Also check for obstructions in the area like wiring which may have moved. Check the plug and socket connections to the sensor.
  15. It could well be but have you also considered the safety factors involved, the last thing you want is to touch the brakes to disengage the CC only to find the car continues at the preset speed!
  16. There are lots of choices of colour on the earlier model but I’m guessing you are looking for some self adhesive stick over ones? Chances are they will be cheap and nasty looking and they will look completely naff in less than a year despite a fantastic 10 year fleabay seller’s guarantee.
  17. You will struggle to get the same ride quality as air suspension. I have these fitted to mine, works out around £1200.00 shipped and duty. Made in USA too. https://www.strutmasters.com/suspension-parts/lexus/lexus-ls-430/2002-lexus-ls-430 A set of decent coil overs are around £800. Or buy all the parts from Rockauto.com From Lexus you are looking at around £450 a corner for all the bits, top mount, insulator, spring and damper. There are 2 types of front damper one at around £80.00 and the other at £220.00 ! That’s assuming all the parts are still available as stocks for earlier models have been dwindling for some time now.
  18. If it isn’t broken it’s probably OK as the ends tend to break off, Lexus only sell the complete unit with the height sensor for around £500.00. You can buy just the arm then adjust it to the same length. If you have a rattle in that area check the exhaust heat shield above the back box they tend to corrode and fall onto the exhaust causing a rattle. One of these will do the link job if you want to replace it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254774547432?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338792760&toolid=10001&customid=EAIaIQobChMIwOuR58fy8QIVFODtCh2q4AVzEAQYASABEgJB_PD_BwE&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwOuR58fy8QIVFODtCh2q4AVzEAQYASABEgJB_PD_BwE
  19. 1uf 6.3V are now “ceramic” capacitors so I would use 1uf 16V for a replacement, 820uf is fine as electrolytic capacitors generally have a “tolerance” or range of +/- 20% so an 820uf could be anywhere between 656 and 984uf and still be within specification. Another consideration is the temperature range most are rated at 85C but try and obtain 105C versions. ESR is too technical to go into.
  20. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I’m surprised Cruise Control is not fitted as standard, you will also need the actuators and plenty of other stuff. Personally given the amount of work required and the cost of parts I would live without it.
  21. It always makes me smile when you are on a quiet A road and the speed limit has been lowered from National to 50MPH but every country lane off the road remains national at 60MPH.
  22. The good thing about Lexus plastic clips is they rarely break off, good job as brutality is often required.
  23. The removal of the door card is well documented with videos, the real problem is the “garnish” trim circled as this is clipped on apart from one removable fixing. They are a very strong fit, need some force to remove and run the risk of breaking during removal. I would suggest getting a set of plastic trim removal tools to make the job a little easier. Once this is off you should be able to access the seal, not sure if you can simply lower the window to get the seal out or you have to remove it completely.
  24. They must sound good through the Hindhead tunnel, pity about the speed limit and cameras 😀
  25. It is extremely difficult to tell the correct level with new oil with it being so clear and thin on the dip stick. Maybe some artificial colouring would make it easier, they put an artificial smell in natural gas so it can be smelt. For those with a transmission dip stick the level is easy to check with red fluid.
