  1. Just looking at the MOT history it reads of “5+” careless owners who never checked their tyres or lights given the fails and advisories, no mention of service history but all cars sold have one. Mileage appears correct at 189,000 looking at those front seats 😀 I wonder if it still has the buckled wheel from the last MOT that must be the “rare” specification. I’m so happy I managed to purchase the car I did from Phil.
  2. I may still have a copy on disc, will check later today for you. These needles have a tendency to stick at the stop rest have you tried the usual thump the top of the dash whilst driving to see if it frees off?
  3. Hello and welcome to the LOC Neil, Always liked the 250c I drove a new one many years ago at a Lexus event in the summer, top down driving and 4 seats you can’t beat it. Put a few pictures up for us all to see please.
  4. Your model year seems to be fetching between £2.5-£4.0K on fleabay, if you spend 1K on a secondhand transmission including fitting you would have a decent car if there are no other potential problems surely? The main problem selling as it is would be arranging collection as it is not drivable so limiting to someone with a trailer or transporter who are in general the traders who will pay you scrap value.
  5. Some dealer descriptions make me smile, “Fitted with optional extras for example Sat Nav.......heated seats and cruise control.” Weren’t these all standard? ”Lexus service history” at “Mountain Goat Lexus” A bit worrying when you see the invoice for the door trim rust problem repair .....what about the other 3? Does look nice however.
  6. I just noticed the cost of the cam belt and MOT, I thought Lexus were expensive for servicing but seem to remember they only charged around £500.00 for the LS400 belt change. If the engine is the usual front wheel drive transverse set up with a single cam I would expect the job to take a maximum of 2 hours with all the tools in hand but the exception of cam locking ones. I cut through Pride Park yesterday having been to Dunhelm.
  7. The wheels were about the only thing not listed as an advisory on the MOT or other functional problems. A bit of welding on the sills was an understatement when you look at the test fail reasons and the picture for the other one.
  8. Sorry it was a quick glance, I saw 6 speed and assumed automatic as my LS430 is 6 speed auto.
  9. Is this the same gearbox ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284415127545?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3D1364272ae03b44e8973f49c889f850b1%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D265002387882%26itm%3D284415127545%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv9PairwiseWithPLXWeb%26brand%3DLexus&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A2844151275451364272ae03b44e8973f49c889f850b1|enc%3AAQAGAAACAGe0bTVDGzKKZcYmzeQaKFFyZmRkKf7ikJVvH%2FcJU3a1mfV%2FPT3qXNmHWowE1t%2Fy0zaCcCA4jSwJVF%2FGyiO9Szn1gHDqt9T8Fs4tcHjuG5YJ4zCzGWGnkMB7wyGbuGOxf5eb%2FAP6hQz6cVNXGAqGGmnNo9FpTexXcsMt8l%2BTJ%2F2wbClVHEa%2BJvqkDjwvGKHskNmpabCeacJFNswdsN7AbfLJuRL9Tky3IfbnaqUq3i34x7UZ7qRUsHK1fG%2FvrecdwzwnPNQwe4pTuRu8%2FPlPNwV1SS%2Bun9MS1Lmb4x2iHIsXsIMZB7juNZ%2FQ%2B4C8D4Msjtv9EmM3%2F0wqwzfX2GGETD6yepxfAP3jo0d5ExWSG8AJxYPckUNDKqKBGgAEgi8YRiSjDVTfWaKRODJl9V9AR0asqjd7XJP3Jg4ugKpACDH%2BSB2UxjwHIrSaFlKuZuiFfj95IB0Py7iQhmp5MsTgNCQyKNlk2O%2F5evUpmt%2F6Mc%2FJ8syRAzNRy4Hjd7D0i8nev4%2BGrHFjEo2xGGESo26pya51K9%2BhkJLgEXryxixmCWhp%2Fi%2BBHVUbq3cuMvE5IzPWDjeQ4BviVtOJetpU%2FykWubcWzaorZPDhxC1Rpxf9WwpZiQQ4zieUBZBWrosA0X57014QPTHTpU4pQf%2FL3O5G1rXLpN861qPjP7GpRl2GUuq4|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2047675
  10. Lexus make me smile with a £2K quote for diagnostics, there is no way they would strip a transmission down to component level to diagnose to individual component level like shift solenoids or brake bands. Plug the code reader in and then as they have done quote for a complete transmission. I would keep looking for a good used transmission and get a decent local garage to fit it.
  11. The eBay transmission has sold did you buy it Daniel? So did you pay Lexus £750.00 to sort the gearbox a month ago and it has now failed completely? What mileage has it done, sounds like an ex Birmingham taxi.
  12. Does this tyre sun lotion have a UVA/UVB factor or a speed rating? 😀 OK the serious bit now, just be aware that some Lexus wheels are left and right handed.
  13. No problem glad to help, the model specification should be on a plate usually mounted on one of the door B pillars or on your V5c log book. Bit of a trip to my body shop in Derbyshire Got a feeling this is the part but would need to confirm.
  14. That certainly looks repairable by the method I suggested, I’m struggling finding the exact model on the Toyota database and if you could confirm the model type is GYL26R-ARXGBW it would help me confirm the clips part numbers should they be required in addition. My local guy would probably charge me around £250.00 for the job to give you an idea of cost so certainly not worth an insurance claim. I found this video showing the process involved in repair. https://www.smartautorepairs.co.uk/mobile-plastic-car-bumper-repair/bumper-repair-process/
  15. When your next door neighbour puts his Tesla on charge. 😀
  16. Hi Ron and welcome to the LOC. Sorry to hear of your problem, if you could post up a picture of the damage I can take a look at the parts diagram for you to see if it is available as a separate item although they are generally unpainted. Another option is to find a local repair shop which specialises in plastic bumper repairs as they can be plastic welded then filled as required then repainted provided nothing is missing. I found this one with good reviews but I have no interest in the company it’s purely an example in your area. https://bumperrepairs.uk.com
  17. I was holding my breath until I saw that reply ! New transmission price is not even listed on Toyodiy.
  18. I occasionally have a glance of LS400s for sale on eBay and today did just that. What a selection of nails, 3 with little or no MOT, all with varying defects one with a fail list as long as your arm, body damage, paint damage, radio disconnected the lists are endless. Only one which sounds reasonable but no details or pictures from a trader! Just a bit of welding required for a mere £2900.00, it’s usually the heat shield that rots around the mounting hole but this one requires a bit more than a large washer!
  19. Living in Derbyshire with the Toyota factory nearby I know many people who work there ( or at RR) and in the past have asked if they can get parts cheap....the answer always being no. Got me thinking and I remembered this Johnny Cash song, I wonder if this has ever happened?
  20. A Nissan Leaf and it’s driver were recently arrested by the police, the driver was let off with a caution but the car was charged. 😀
