  1. Hope we haven’t scared him off !
  2. If the pressure cap was loose that would probably explain the loss, top it back up, refit the cap correctly then keep an eye on the temperature gauge and the coolant level.
  3. Just buy some half decent replacements from a local motor factor and be careful when refitting to the battery terminals .....I have seen a post snap off with a heavy hand.
  4. Apart from code reading the best tools to use with any thermally affected problem is a hairdryer and a can of freezer spray 😀
  5. Please let us know how much WBAC offer for it, apparently the “guaranteed price” is rarely given after the inspection.
  6. Did you perform a Post Mortem on the seized calliper as generally it is the slide pins which seize or were the pistons the problem? Gone are the days when we used to pour oil down inside a brake cable to prevent it rusting up as a preventive measure 😀
  7. Just check your battery terminals, I repaired my own starter motor and a few days later the click returned...turned out I had not fully tightened the battery terminals and no problems since (around 12 years later.) Good news is that you can still buy a repair kit, bad news is the removal and refitting....my back has never fully recovered.
  8. That change of tyre size would result in an increase of around 35mm on your sidewall height, this increased flexibility could affect your handling of the car due to the extra give in the tyre. Suspension set up and geometry on road cars are generally designed as a compromise between road holding characteristics and comfort and this includes the size of the tyres. Personally I would stick to the recommended size.
  9. So the people responsible for the thefts have been caught red handed, the CPS will probably drop the case due to “lack of evidence” or if they do proceed by the time it goes to court the accused will be long gone or if they actually appear in court will get a small fine or similar punishment and continue to do the same. Meanwhile the cats will never be reunited with the owners and would be of no use unless they are very handy with a MIG welder so will probably sold as scrap by the police. End result is the same, car owner out of pocket.
  10. You’re right to be weary, the quality and reliability vary a lot from poor fitting into the bulb holders to flickering and my experience resulted in a blown integration relay for the interior lights as one short circuited! (At least the car didn’t go up in flames). Put it this way I doubt they are made in a UK factory to British Standards specification by skilled workers.
  11. Hi Richard welcome to the LOC and congrats on buying an ISF. Pretty sure I saw a set for sale recently on in the “For Sale” section but you’ve posted in the right place to find a set 😀
  12. Hi Adrian and welcome to the LOC. Good thing about the 250c is a proper metal roof so all year comfort. I drove the ISF at launch time (had to be accompanied by a professional driver too), mine is around 280 BHP the ISF over 400, just be even more careful of curbs and Range Rovers though 😀
  13. A change of tact with “ fine drive” not mentioned on this one. Has a fairly fresh MOT ( not full as stated) but a noisy wheel bearing.....mmmmm. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304095048869?hash=item46cd7a34a5:g:~ysAAOSwbx1hI6aw
  14. You missed a bit off the end of your post Greg.............at a premium price 😀 Strangely ( maybe unsurprisingly) the fuel price comparison sites don’t seem to include super unleaded prices (E5) but pretty sure it was £1.49 a litre the other day at Esso so there’s the “premium” content. Looking at the picture below with average prices and mileage it’s costing around £275.00 a year more for the E5 SUP, roughly the same amount as doubling my road tax/ VED. No mention of lawn mowers, I wonder if my 30 year old Honda will need SUP 😀
  15. The UK governments official site ( with the usual disclaimers including it is your responsibility to use the correct fuel).
  16. A big screwdriver normally works or take the wires off the bonnet switch and connect them together.
  17. First question is do you know the location of the tracker? Once found it should just be a case of disconnecting the 12 volt supply to it or if it has a multi connector pull the plug out, as far as I know they are not interfaced with other car systems so pulling the plug shouldn’t have any affect on anything else.
  18. Hopefully later today Roy, the data is on disc ( CD-ROM ?) but the only device I have with a DVD drive is an old windows 10 laptop which I have now fully charged. If the diagrams are on I may just send you the disc to copy then return it to me.
  19. Hi Carl, Sorry can’t help with much advice as never heard of those springs before, have you found any reviews on them? Given the hassle of having to remove the struts then the springs have you considered adjustable coil overs instead? Also don’t forget to notify your insurance company about the modification if you go ahead.
  20. Hi Ross and welcome to the club. Good choice of replacement, they have some lovely colours too...which have you gone for? We normally ask new members to post up a picture of their car but a shipping container maybe not this time 😀
  21. Bit of research, the MPX-B fuse supplies the Body ECU, all the door ECUs, Airbag sensor system and tilt and telescopic steering ECU. Radio No 1 supplies the electric aerial control relay and all of the audio system components. Have you tried pulling out the 15A TEL fuse which partly supplies the now obsolete in car phone system?
  22. Hugh I have the official electrical manual for the 2000 model which is the same as 1999, you can borrow it from me if you wish. Happy to post it to you at your expense then return it when you have done with it or you can collect and return.
  23. No I hadn’t seen that one until now, a little confusing when they say certified mileage, it’s still in KMs according to the dash but MOT states miles. Also registered as a Lexus LS430 not a Toyota Celsior I wonder how they managed that. Looks very clean, never seen that tray in the boot before but at over 4 times the price I paid for mine no thanks.
  24. When you say you have “got the car back finally” where has it been until now?
