  1. The AC compressor increases the load on the drive belt and increases strain on the idler and tensioner pulleys. Obviously check the condition of the belt and try removing the belt and spinning the idler and tensioner by hand listening for any roughness. I had a very similar noise occur with my old LS400 which squeaked when cold at start up, that was the idler pulley bearing. Could also be the compressor bearings, again spin it with the belt off or the electromagnetic clutch. Get yourself an automotive stethoscope the long probe allows you to pin point the source of the noise more accurately without the risk of losing a finger!
  2. How to remove your mirror glass on a Lexus vehicle. 1) Check for spiders. 2) If found take car to dealer.
  3. I’ve found a way to save more than the WF allowance, tapped into the street lamp post. I need to ring the council though because it went off at midnight.
  4. They may be grey and a bit stiff like us but I bet they’ve got the heating on, didn’t have to make the choice either because they don’t need to eat.
  5. Does this mean we get 3 Commons debates instead of one. Thinking of telling my utilities supplier I’m reducing my monthly Direct Debit by £16.666 a month ( coincidental scary amount) and if they need to discuss it further please send all correspondence to 11 Downing Street FTAO Rachael Reeves.
  6. Reason I mentioned it was, the crankcase breather valve is known to fail which could increase pressure and cause excessive oil blow by. Direct fuel injection doesn’t help when it comes to carbon build up
  7. If you start the engine then remove the oil filler cap is there any blow back from there?
  8. I’ve never heard of a sudden catastrophic failure of air suspension unlike a broken spring on a conventional set up so chances are you won’t end up stranded by the roadside but it is something that requires investigation and diagnosis. Usual failure points are air leaks on the piping/unions and the strut itself due to internal seal failure.
  9. Just to let you know Kevin I joined in 2006 and I’m still here, alive and hopeful remaining so for some time yet. 😀 Mike hello and welcome to the LOC.
  10. This one. https://tinyurl.com/bdffrzbt If you have a Karcher you will also need this adaptor to connect the lance pipe to the washer https://tinyurl.com/57sxe6nb You will get very wet especially if you pull the washer out beyond the sill which results in a jet washed face 😀 It’s not the wheel arch liners just the trim around the arch lip, mine are held on with 4 screws. I could remove the screws on mine with a standard Philip’s screwdriver but if access is tight use a “chubby” Philips screwdriver or turn the tyre full lock each way to give more room.
  11. IIRC it used to be Norwich Union with their tag line “Quote me Happy” Now Aviva who’s tag line along with all the others should be “Quote me Wappy” Always makes me smile when insurance companies offer “no loss of NCB if you are hit by an uninsured driver” They fail to mention of course that the premium will probably quadruple and even with your protected NCB you will still be paying at least double!
  12. Just been looking at EV prices and according to the figures the average price in the UK is £48K so already £8K over the tax bracket. Of course just like several other taxes this limit will remain fixed pushing more cars into the upper bracket.
  13. Yes I noticed the significant delivery time difference and thought that’s why you ordered the more expensive one. Just hope Amayama can now complete the order (I’ve had stuff cancelled by them before!) or it could be a Christmas sale! Having said that Christmas Day could be a roof down cloudless blue sunny skies with a temperature of minus 12. 😀
  14. I used to take mine to the local auto car wash once a year after winter just to get the “full Monty” package which included an under body wash. This year I purchased an underbody attachment for my pressure washer so do the job myself. Yesterday as part of the hand wash and wax I removed the wheel arch trims, washed all the crud off them and the arch lips, applied a smear of grease to the arch lips and refitted them.
  15. A bit late now but I would happily have looked up further information for you on request (see pictures) to confirm the correct type. Generally when the last digit or 2 is changed it is a modified part ( maybe the 20 had seam splitting problems and the 30 overcame this.
  16. Is this the part you need?
  17. To confirm take the car for a drive, say 8-10 KMs then pull over somewhere safe and carefully feel the wheel temperature. If it is getting hotter on one side suspect seized caliper pins.
  18. The “Car Care Nut” has just released this YouTube video regarding servicing.
  19. Yes, cold air is provided by the AC system and warm/hot air by the vehicle’s engine cooling system so even with no AC working you will still get warm air when selected. You could also run a few DIY checks, see if the engine revs drop slightly when you switch on the AC and check if the fan(s) cut in and out with the AC switched on. An auto AC specialist with the correct diagnostic equipment would be your best bet, someone like Diagnose Dan!
  20. Any useful footage from your dash cam?
  21. Just a thought, apparently the control flap for airflow can be damaged if it is not set in a particular position when replacing the filter so given the fault codes it may have something to do with the fault?
  22. It’s probably all the other gubbins like lane assist which is also integrated into the mirror, can’t even get a price on Amayama as it is showing “Out of Stock” Just hope you have the registration of the 3rd party and it shows their road position on dash cam to make a claim.
  23. If they are original 21mm, I use a 1/2” drive deep single hex socket, torque is normally 76ib/ft
  24. By any chance was the cabin filter replaced at the same time as the aircon re-gas?
