  1. Perhaps this matching welding helmet would reduce the colour strain on the eyes 😀
  2. Regarding low water pressure can you not attach the hosepipe to a cold water tap in the sink or bath, adaptors cost a couple of pounds. I find snow foam is good for the initial wash, apply it, sponge it around then rinse it off. Also get a genuine chamois leather not the fake stuff, rinsing in warm water before squeezing out and using helps pliability. Here’s one of mine having spent 12 years in Japan another 15 years in the UK and garaged.
  3. Just looking at the interior puts me off, presenting a car for sale after a quick wash then still dripping wet when taking the photographs and an interior looking like a local recycling centre parking area with filthy seats and trim yuk! I doubt the owner has spent around £4000.00 on new air suspension either and it still drops after being stood according to the last MOT advisories. Check out the MOT history.......corrosion on both rear sides to sill, damaged windscreen! A 4 year gap between 2017-2021 MOT probably due to corrosion, if the welding is as good as the air suspension replacement I’d be very worried. Forget this one and keep looking is my advice, mine is for sale in the cars for sale section 😀
  4. Hello Dragos and welcome to the LOC. Lexus dealers normally provide the yearly hybrid battery health check and a free basic car check covering most mechanical and safety related items. If you have access to the correct diagnostic device this can be used to check the battery condition also. This yearly hybrid check costs around £60.00 and provides a year’s warranty on the battery however you say the car only has a partial service history which may affect the 10 year battery warranty if the hybrid check alone has not been carried out yearly. This is something that really should have been checked before purchase, was it a private or car dealer sale?
  5. Lexus for you, the car had to make sure it was 110% happy with the replacement part 😀
  6. That’s some good news, OK you are going to have to wait but just look at the price for a new replacement! I did some research a long while ago regarding inverter failure, it would appear a lot of the problems are caused by the lead free solder. Thankfully I still have a stock of military grade solder!
  7. I may have one but it’s going to be a shed search so bear with me.
  8. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Try looking under Toyota Altezza, this is the Japanese version of the IS200, you should find plenty of body kits from Japan but under £500.00 will be a struggle.
  9. Does anyone have a set of roof bars for my LS430, I have an idea 😀
  10. It will be in the small print, the section you have to tick to confirm you have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
  11. Lexus only sell the complete sensor with link.....expensive! Either make one from a piece of M6 threaded rod and a couple of swivel joints. https://www.evansweb.info/2009/11/23/ls400-ride-height-sensor-repair/ or https://tinyurl.com/pjmw8kev
  12. Apparently my new supplier provides me with 100% green energy, there’s algae and moss forming in the fuse box.
  13. Ha but you missed the quilted toilet rolls on aisle 9, to protect consumers from the increases in wholesale cost the price has been capped by Ofbog. 😀
  14. Just read that gas and electric supplies will not run over winter out and there is no need to panic. Curiosity got the better of me so I decided to find out for myself, the supermarket shelves are empty.......no gas or electricity in stock just empty shelves with staff having no idea when further deliveries will arrive.
  15. Spot on Malc, if you are losing coolant and there are no obvious signs of where from there is a good probability that the combined radiator/ transmission cooler has failed internally allowing engine coolant to mix with the transmission fluid with expensive if not terminal results to the transmission. Personally if the radiator has never been replaced I would not bother with testing the system just buy a replacement of the correct type and have it fitted ASAP.
  16. Is this any help John? https://media.toyota.co.uk/new-toyota-glass-technology-cuts-uv-by-99/
  17. The level markings are based on cold coolant levels so if it is below min/low with a cold engine then yes I would top it up between the 2 level indications.
  18. Assuming the engine is fully warmed up and confirmed by temperature gauge, low coolant level which should flag a warning light or poor coolant circulation (when was the water pump last replaced). Check the heater valve mounted on the engine bay firewall is open by feeling both rubber pipes connected to it, they should both be a similar temperature indicating the valve is open and coolant is flowing.
  19. It’s generally the nylon drive that fails so although the motor runs the aerial doesn’t move, replacements parts are available and a DIY project. There are several tutorials for fitting.
  20. There were 3 recently auctioned by BCA and I seem to remember one now being at a Lexus dealer “at a premium price”
  21. The suspension height sensors are notorious for water ingress and erratic signal outputs resulting in height variations. There have been reports of the units being stripped down and cleaned as replacements as expected are not cheap.
  22. Hi and welcome to the LOC, sorry you haven’t disclosed your first name and I doubt it’s “Lexus”? As John mentions maintenance and servicing trump mileage, the vehicle could have higher mileage due to a lot of motorway travel or occasional European touring but provided the servicing has been carried out as and when required these cars are well built and remain reliable. This is particularly important on hybrid models in order to maintain the hybrid battery warranty. If you do find an example that interests you feel free to post up the details so members can provide feedback and input before you commit to viewing or purchase. If a prospective purchase is far away members local to it have in the past volunteered to go and view the car and report back.
  23. Chances are water has entered the drums during the car wash, the parking brake was applied, the water dried out and the drum gained a layer of rust which bound the brake shoes to it, once you broke the bond the car then moved. You only have to wash your car to see rust appearing on the discs within hours.
