Hotel and Parking at Manchester Airport
steve2006 replied to keywest's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
We always stay at the Premier Inn (North or South they are opposite each other). Present cost with my discount is £131.00 for overnight stay and 3 weeks parking over Christmas and New Year. -
It does seem over priced but if it’s as good as it appears, has a FLSH and the years warranty is worth more than the paper it’s written on it could cost you more than £2k in repairs on another one. What’s the extra £190.00 charge, seems excessive for filling in a V5c and a stamp.

2017 gs300h rear disc replacement with auto hand brake
steve2006 replied to IMC1's topic in Brakes & Suspension
Hi Ian and welcome to the LOC. Lexus would use Techstream the official Toyota diagnostic software to release the electronic handbrake. If you can release the handbrake then disconnect the 12 volt battery then keep pressing the brake pedal until it goes hard to fully discharge the accumulator and also for additional safety take the key fob out of range of the car the disc and pad change is conventional. Remove the disc calliper and support bracket and tie up out of the way to avoid stretching the hose. To allow the parking brake shoes to pull away from the drum there is normally a rubber bung in the section where the wheel studs come through. Remove the bung then turn the drum until you can see the knurled adjuster (see picture, A is the knurled section)through the hole (torch helps). Flick the adjuster with a screwdriver to slacken off the shoes ( I can’t remember which way to turn it but if you go the wrong way the drum will lock so then go the opposite way). Remove the drum to hub fixing screws and the disc/drum should then slide off. Thoroughly clean the hub to disc mating surface and fit the new disc. Turn the adjuster the opposite way to push the shoes towards the drum until the drum locks then back off a little until it turns freely. Reassemble the callipers. I would suggest opening the calliper bleed nipple when pushing the pistons back to avoid back flowing the brake fluid through the seals then lose them back up. The hydraulic brake system used an accumulator not a conventional servo so avoid getting any air into the brake lines or this is a techstream only job for brake bleeding. Reconnect the battery, start the car and press the brakes to bring the new pads out to the disc. This link provides more info including torque settings including a mention that the ISF has a similar set up with YouTube videos available. -

This is for the later model but they look the same on the exploded diagrams. -
Another possible cause is either a broken height sensor link arm or an electrically defective height sensor unit. There are 4, one on each suspension unit. You should normally get a suspension fault warning from the OBD so a code read may reveal the possible cause. The picture below shows the complete unit with the link arm on the left, if you do find one broken you can purchase just the arm from various 3rd parties as Lexus only sell the complete unit for several hundred pounds. There have also been reported successful cases where a defective sensor has been repaired by removing the cover and cleaning the tracks inside with electrical contact cleaner.

Ever since purchasing my 1994 JDM Celsior a sticker on the top left of the windscreen has left me flummoxed as to what it is. I finally discovered today that it is in fact a “Shaken” sticker which is basically the Japanese version of the UK MOT but includes 3rd party insurance. The sticker actually tells the driver when the last test was done, the month which is around the outer section and the year in the centre. This also confused me as the number on my 1994 is 16 and the 2003 model has 29 which makes no sense at all. The year however is based on how long the reigning Japanese Emperor has been “on the throne” so the figures translate to 1997 and 2010.

Just read that the RX450h models are being snapped up for school runs and prices are rising daily. LS460 not so much as they are proving more difficult to park on the yellow zig zag lines outside the school! 😀

Buying a road tanker full of fuel a month ago and securely parking it up until now and selling it would probably be the best investment ever when you consider the paltry interest rates on savings. When fuel prices peaked a few years ago I predicted that BP would be the first to hit £1.50 per litre but they dropped again. Not this time and these prices are here to stay.

Lexus UK pricing is terrible, 5 Ltr Type IV transmission fluid for example UK £65.00 USA (equivalent amount in quarts) $30.00. I remember having to replace the front UCA on my 1994 model, Lexus UK £521.00......same from Japparts £160.00 shipped. Some of us have even purchased parts from US dealers while over there and Amayama sell genuine Lexus parts from Japan or the UAE still cheaper than UK prices even with shipping and VAT added on.

Same here but a lot easier with just the covers and air filter box to remove for access. -
Hi Catalin and welcome to the LOC, I have a friend from Hungary with the very same name but beginning with K not C. If you can confirm your model number from the list below in blue I can confirm the pump part number for you.

Hi Raj and welcome to the LOC. It seems that the centre console on the RX400h has a history of being troublesome with some even being replaced under warranty. There is information on how to remove it on the LOC and hopefully you can then see the cause.

From what I remember the bulb holder (looking from the rear of the light cluster) is above the hi beam bulb, if you look through the hi beam section (inner part) you can see the bulb just sticking into the housing above the reflector. -
The calliper slide pins were around £10.00 each from Lexus and that was some years ago.

They are of course 24ct gold plated from Lexus 😀

Hi Sam and welcome to the LOC. Sorry can’t help with a local body shop for you but pretty sure other members will come up with recommendations. Rusty sills on the IS200 can get quite serious even spreading to the arch areas, seem to remember another member posted up the same repair with updates, there are a lot of layers to remove and replace to do the job well.

Bulb replacement

OK it is do-able without having to remove the bumper but very tight, removing the plastics, part of the fuse box and moving it out of the way allows just enough room to access the side light bulb holder. Twist and pull the holder to release then pull it out. It is fairly long. This video shows the basics for removing the bits. Picture showing location of bulb holder in headlight unit. -

Front right is fairly easy with just plastics including air box to remove but front left not so much as the fuse box is in the way. I am going to take a look at mine today and see if I can provide any further help. I would have done this sooner had it not been for getting a bad cold which led to sinusitis ( diagnosed by Dr. Google and not the NHS!) I wondered if it would be an idea to go to Halfords and pay for the fitting service if it’s a fixed price and they fail to realise what the job may entail, you could also video it. -
I hope this advice was of some use to you Gordon, any updates you would like to post?
